Unless we are shipping someone out I can't see any more defenders coming in. Why not, we lost three We lost at least four providing Rangel is not signing a new contract. However, we had far too many players & need to reduce the number. Furlong, Kakay, Leistenr, Hall, Barbet, Wallace, Hamalainen, Phillips plus Manning would look to be about the right number to me.

Brought in two and Rangel in negotiations but lost Lynch, Bidwell and Baptiste even though he didn’t play much. I’m certainly hoping Rangel signs another leader and great for our kids.
As we know a few injuries and we might be in trouble like last year. I fully understand we need to keep a slender squad but personally defence needs improving more than anything. We need a few clean sheets, we let in 71 goals last year only worsened by three teams and they all went down.

I get what you are saying but I think replacing Lynch with Barbet is already a step up in quality. Hall is now back when we were missing him most of last season and with Rangel hopefully signing I personally think we are already better than last year. I would expect a starting back 4 of Rangel Leinster Barbet Wallace, that gives us Hall and Furlong as subs and (assuming they don't all go out on loan) Kakay, Hamalainen and Phillips to call upon if needed, all of which need to be stepping up. I am not saying that I don't want any more to come in as I think another experienced defender wouldn't do us any harm, but right now we need strikers and money is tight hence why I said I don't expect any more defenders to come in. Hats off to QPR for the signings made so far.

We do need Strikers, we don’t basically have any apart from Eze if Smith goes, I would rather he stayed but may not fit into Warburtons plans. Two Forwards are a must.

At least the other players would know all about him. I can dream, as I do about Charlie returning one day.

I like Wells but he did go off the boil in a huge way and sportrac estimate his salary at £25K pw/£1.3m py. If we get him one of two things have happened either we've got an outstanding deal out of Burnley for his loan or we've risked our FFP again, I doubt the former and dont want the latter. The reality is that we need a striker bargain and there are few of them and even if Smith isn't plan A I'd keep him as plan B. I wonder if we'll get some European striker no ones heard of, Pukki at Norwich is supposedly on £7-8Kpw

Wells put in a good shift but never got near his former self which is a real shame as I thought it was a great signing at the time. There has got to be a good Premiership player looking for 1st team experience / time that we can get on the cheap.

www.hitc.com/en-gb/2019/06/19/report-sheffield-wednesday-and-qpr-battling-for-chuks-aneke/According to TEAMtalk, Sheffield Wednesday and Queens Park Rangers are in the race to sign Milton Keynes Dons attacker Chuks Aneke on a free transfer. Aneke, 25, came up through the Arsenal ranks, but after a series of loan spells and even a stint in Belgium with Zulte Waregem, he's really found a home with MK Dons, starring their League Two promotion campaign last season. Aneke hit 17 league goals and 19 in all competitions last season, adding three assists too, and MK Dons have allegedly offered him a new deal given that he becomes a free agent in a matter of weeks. The attacker is now thought to have interest from a host of Championship clubs, with Barnsley, Hull City, Queens Park Rangers, Sheffield Wednesday and Wigan Athletic all keen, whilst Portsmouth of League One are interested too. A move to another League One club seems unlikely given that MK Dons will be in the third tier again next season, but jumping up to the Championship will be hugely tempting. Aneke has never played in the Championship, and having emerged as a big, physical centre forward in recent years, he may feel it's time to test himself in the second tier. MK Don's Chuks Aneke tees up his shot and scores the second goal for MK Don's during the Sky Bet League 2 match between MK Dons and Yeovil Town at Stadium MK, Milton Keynes on Saturday... Wednesday have released Gary Hooper, and Steve Bruce may be looking to add Aneke as a cheap option to challenge Steven Fletcher, Lucas Joao and Atdhe Nuhiu in the Owls attack. A move to QPR would certainly make sense. They're unlikely to be big spenders, but they need striking options having lost loanees Nahki Wells and Tomer Hemed, whilst it would also be a return to London for Aneke – meaning a move to Loftus Road may be ideal for all. He has been compared to former Arsenal teammate Abou Diaby.[38][39] Arsène Wenger also compared his style of play as similar to that of Manchester City's Yaya Touré,[11] a player that Wenger had intended to sign in 2005 but failed when the player could not secure a work permit.[40]

Warburton last week tied up the signings of goalkeeper Liam Kelly and left-back Lee Wallace, who both played under him at Glasgow Rangers, and on Tuesday completed the signing of out-of-contract Brentford defender Yoann Barbet. But a major part of the new manager’s brief is to use his contacts to bring talented young players to Loftus Road on loan. ADVERTISING Other Championship clubs, including Brentford when Warburton was sporting director and later manager at Griffin Park, have had success in bringing in quality youngsters from top-flight clubs. QPR have been less effective in that respect and want Warburton to change that. “It works – players are assets and it (making loan signings) works for both clubs,” Warburton said. “You can have a player that comes from a Premier League club that plays 30-40 games for you and goes back a better asset. QPR boss Chris Ramsey See also: Ramsey to continue triple role “It sounds harsh but the players are assets – they’re a balance-sheet item. “The player can go back to their Premier club (and stay there) as a better asset, in which case job’s done, everyone’s happy and you get another one the following season. “Or, you get the player who comes to you (permanently) and the Premier League club has a sell-on and financially it works for all parties.” Competition for loan signings is fierce, but one of the reasons Warburton was appointed was because it was felt his track record would help the club persuade top sides to send their players to QPR on loan. “As long as we can get that trust, respect and relationships there, clubs can see that their young talent is coming here, learning and going back as better players, then we’re in a good position,” Warburton explained. “You can have X number of clubs who are all after the same players. We have to show that QPR is a good place to come.”

The talented Ireland Under 21 international has decided that education must come first before he embarks on his career as a full-time professional footballer. With university playing a big factor in his decision, Farrugia has instead agreed to join south Dublin side Shamrock Rovers for the time being which will allow him to stay local and finish his studies. Middlesbrough, Preston and Leeds had all shown interest in signing him. The University College Dublin midfielder is expected to sign an 18-month deal at Rovers which will see him through to when he graduates next summer. Farrugia reportedly sees next summer as an ideal time to make his move following his graduation but there appears to be no clause in his deal with Rovers to allow him a quick exit after 12 months. Bohemians also tried to sign Farrugia with the understanding that they would not stand in his way should the right offer come in for him once he had finished his studies. Another factor in his move to the Hoops was the allure of playing Europa League football next season. Rovers, who are currently second in the League of Ireland Premier Division, will play Norwegian side SK Brann in the first round but Farrugia may struggle to feature in the encounter as he is currently out with a hamstring injury. The academically-gifted 20-year-old has already turned down a move to QPR last year while Middlesbrough showed a keen interest in bringing him to England. Preston and Leeds were also reportedly scouting the youngster. Farrugia trained with the Manchester City Under 23s side while on trial with the Premier League champions.

Mark Warburton wants to take former Brentford striker Scott Hogan to QPR on loan from Aston Villa. Ex-Brentford boss Warburton signed Republic of Ireland international Hogan, 27, for the Bees, who sold him to Aston Villa in January 2017 for £12m. He has been unable to make an impact at the Midlands club and spent the second half of last season on loan at Sheffield United, who were promoted to the Premier League along with Villa. He started just five league matches for the Blades, scoring twice, and is set for another move this summer as he is not in Villa’s first-team plans. Having been signed from Rochdale, Hogan suffered cruciate knee ligament damage on his league debut for Brentford in August 2014 and again, in April the following year, soon after returning to training. It meant Hogan did not play again until March 2016 but his long-awaited return was an emphatic one – he ended that season by scoring seven goals in Brentford’s final four matches of the campaign. He scored 14 times during the first half of the following season and was snapped up by Villa after interest from several clubs. Hogan has struggled for fitness and form since that big-money move but recently-appointed QPR manager Warburton believes he can get the best out of him and wants to bring him back to west London. Hogan’s wages could be a stumbling block for Rangers but most of the other Championship clubs likely to be keen on him are similarly affected by Financial Fair Play rules. So, with Villa keen to offload Hogan and the player believing he needs to move in order to play first-team football, Warburton is hoping a deal can be done. Warburton also wants to bring in youngsters on loan from Premier League clubs and plans to offload Matt Smith, who is wanted by Millwall, and keeper Matt Ingram. www.westlondonsport.com/qpr/football-wls-scott-hogan-aston-villa-200619#.XQvXtpAYYG0.twitter

QPR have rejected an offer from Sheffield United for Luke Freeman. The promoted Blades were looking to buy Freeman, 27, for around £4m and have been told he would cost significantly more. United and Middlesbrough had offers for Freeman rejected last summer and he has since extended his contract at Loftus Road. Recently-appointed QPR boss Mark Warburton is keen for him to stay and does not regard Freeman’s departure as inevitable. Meanwhile, Warburton is hoping to secure the loan signings of at least two youngsters on loan from Premier League clubs in the next week or so. www.westlondonsport.com/qpr/qpr-reject-offer-from-sheffield-united-for-freeman#.XRCcHhi1wq4.twitter

Matt Ingram is on course to join Hull City from QPR. Rangers are looking to sell the goalkeeper, who has fallen down the pecking order at Loftus Road following the recent signing of Liam Kelly. And a deal is being discussed for Ingram, 25, to join the Tigers. Signed from Wycombe in 2016, Ingram had to wait for a run in the QPR side before being installed as number one following last year’s sale of Alex Smithies to Cardiff City. He performed poorly and was replaced by Joe Lumley, who made 46 appearances last season and will compete for a place with Kelly. Meanwhile, QPR have rejected an offer from Sheffield United for Luke Freeman. And R’s boss Mark Warburton is looking to seal the loan signings of at least two Premier League youngsters. www.westlondonsport.com/qpr/qpr-football-wls-matt-ingram-hull-city-240619?fbclid=IwAR1hanCwtdURIFOy4rjep4hkUpbn8ytSoeRIUSJHcqgliCbCcCjvN1bCWW4#.XRCgXpR3rlA.facebook

QPR have turned down an initial offer from Millwall for Matt Smith but talks between the two clubs are ongoing. Millwall boss Neil Harris has long been keen on the former Fulham striker, who has a year remaining on his contract at Loftus Road. Harris wanted to sign Smith, 30, in January and is looking to complete a deal to snap him up this summer. There is every expectation that Smith will leave Rangers along with keeper Matt Ingram, who could join Hull City. Meanwhile, QPR have rejected an offer from Sheffield United for Luke Freeman.
