Wallace and Kelly are looking more and more likely to be coming and Dieng looks likely to be signed up again and loaned out which is good news IMO. From WLS www.westlondonsport.com/qpr/qpr-set-to-sell-keeper-as-warburton-edges-towards-signingsQPR ready to offload keeper IngramBy David McIntyre 11/06/2019 QPR are ready to offload goalkeeper Matt Ingram. The club are looking to tie up the signing of Livingston keeper Liam Kelly, who previously played under new R’s boss Mark Warburton at Glasgow Rangers. Kelly, 23, has indicated that he wants to make the move to west London, although other Championship clubs are interested. QPR want him to compete for a place with Joe Lumley and will listen to offers for Ingram, who has failed to impress. Signed from Wycombe in 2016, Ingram had to wait for a run in the side before being installed as number one following last year’s sale of Alex Smithies to Cardiff City. He performed poorly and was replaced by Lumley, who made 46 appearances last season. The out-of-contract Seny Dieng has been offered a new deal by QPR, who plan to loan him out again next season – the Swiss keeper, 24, spent the second half of last term on loan at Dundee. But there appears to be no way back for Ingram, 25, and several clubs have been made aware of his availability. Warburton hopes to complete the signings of Kelly and Glasgow Rangers left-back Lee Wallace in the coming days.
Wallace, who turns 32 in August, also played under Warburton at Ibrox and is available on a free transfer.

From The 72 the72.co.uk/134426/sheffield-wednesday-qpr-and-barnsley-target-to-be-released-from-current-club/Sheffield Wednesday, QPR and Barnsley target to be released from current clubby JAMES RAY on JUN 12, 2019 It was announced on Tuesday morning that Sunderland defender Adam Matthews – a reported target for Championship trio Sheffield Wednesday, QPR and Barnsley – will be leaving the League One side upon the expiration of his contract at the end of this month. We reported here on The72 that Sunderland full-back Adam Matthews was on the radar of Sheffield Wednesday, Queens Park Rangers and newly promoted Barnsley this summer. Now, it has been confirmed that the Welshman will be available on a free transfer this summer, after being released from Sunderland at the end of his contract. The Championship trio will be looking to make their move for Matthews before interest grows further. It has been said that the full-back is keen to play in the Championship again after a season in League One with the Black Cats. Matthews has played 28 games in all competitions under Jack Ross this season, scoring one goal and providing five assists along the way. He comes with plenty of Championship experience, having played in the second tier for Sunderland, Cardiff City and Bristol City, amassing a total of 95 appearances along the way. The Wales international has made the majority of his career appearances for Scottish Premiership side Celtic. Matthews came through the academy at Celtic Park and went on to play 150 times for the club, scoring five and notching up 22 assists along the way. Matthews has also represented Wales at senior level 14 times since making his debut in 2011.

This is a player I would like to see at our club, if Sunderland gained promotion I have no doubt he would have stayed with them.

If the reports / rumours are correct it looks like the club is taking a similar approach to last season, but sensibly doing it before the season starts.
We cannot survive on our young current squad so getting in a few experienced Championship level journey men to play along side, and hopefully help develop, a few of the younger players coming through is the best we can hope for under current circumstances. Another season where the target will be survival - and I do not expect that to change for a few seasons yet.
Getting in the 4 loans last year turned the tide after 4 games - lets hope this time we get the bodies on board before the season starts and we can avoid a repeat of last seasons opening patch. The fixture list will have a hand to play in that as well.

From London Football News saying Matt Smith may be on the way out. That would be sad IMO. Has done well for us. londonfootballnews.co.uk/qpr/two-in-and-two-heading-out-at-qpr-as-warburton-revamps-squad/Two in and two heading out at QPR as Warburton revamps squadBY LONDON FOOTBALL NEWS 12/06/2019 Two players could be on their way out of QPR as new boss Mark Warburton revamps the squad for next season. West London Sport reports that Warburton is looking to tie up deals for Liam Kelly and Lee Wallace and that Matt Ingram will be sold to make room for keeper Kelly. Ingram has failed to impress for the R’s and the expected arrival of Livingston stopper Kelly means it looks like the end of the road in west London for the former Wycombe man. West London Sport say QPR want Kelly, 23, to compete with Joe Lumley and plan to again loan out Seny Dieng. Out-of-contract keeper Dieng, who has been offered a new deal, spent the second half of last season on loan at Scottish club Dundee. And London Football News understands that Matt Smith could be another player on his way out of Loftus Road. Target man Smith has a year remaining on his contract but Warburton generally prefers more mobile strikers and the former Fulham player looks set to move on. Kelly, meanwhile, played under Warburton at Glasgow Rangers, as did left-back Wallace, who is leaving Ibrox on a free transfer. Both look like decent signings by the new manager, who took over last month.

Kelly arrival imminent? www.footballinsider247.com/sources-qpr-to-seal-another-new-signing-today-after-triggering-release-clause/Sources: QPR to seal another new signing today after triggering release clause Sources: QPR to seal another new signing today after triggering release clauseDate: 14th June 2019 at 9:43am Written by: Football Insider By Pete O’Rourke Queens Park Rangers are poised to sign Livingston goalkeeper Liam Kelly in the next 24 hours, Football Insider understands. Kelly is set to make the move to Loftus Road for a minimal fee of £50,000 after the English Championship club activated a release clause in his contract at the Scottish top flight outfit. A QPR source has told Football Insider that Kelly is in London putting the final touches to his move as he prepares to sign a three-year contract. The Glasgow Rangers academy product will be one of two new signings to be completed by the west London club today, along with Lee Wallace, who is joining from Ibrox on a free transfer. Kelly, 23, impressed last season for Livingston and a number of English clubs showed an interest in the shot-stopper, but QPR have moved quickly to agree a deal for Kelly. New QPR boss Mark Warburton is a big admirer of Kelly having worked with him during his time in charge of Rangers and he sees the Scotland international as a valuable addition to his plans at Loftus Road. Kelly, who has been capped by Scotland at Under-21s level, is set to battle it out with Joe Lumley for the No.1 spot next season.

Dieng on the way out? www.qpr.co.uk/news/club-news/liam-kelly-joins-qpr/Liam Kelly joins QPRPaul Morrissey @pjmorrissey77 QPR have completed the signing of Liam Kelly from Livingston for an undisclosed fee. The goalkeeper has signed a four-year deal. Kelly, 23, came through the ranks at Glasgow Rangers before joining Livi 12 months ago following a successful loan spell in 2016/17. It was something I couldn’t say no to.LIAM KELLY The goalkeeper will begin pre-season training at the end of June After making more than 40 appearances in all competitions for the SPL outfit this season, the Scotland squad keeper is now looking forward to a new challenge with the R’s. “I felt now was the right time for me to try something new and QPR gave me that opportunity,” he said. “Knowing the manager and how his teams play, it was something I couldn’t say no to. How the gaffer conducts himself is brilliant and that was a really attractive part of the move.” Kelly also says the reputation of the R’s had an impact on his decision, adding: “QPR is a well-known club all over the world and that attraction was massive. “Hopefully I can have a positive impact and help the club do well.” Kelly is Mark Warburton’s first signing as QPR boss, and the gaffer is pleased to join up with the young keeper once again. “Liam is outstanding with his feet, he has great distribution and he is a very good shot stopper,” Warburton said. “Joe Lumley did exceptionally well for QPR last season so Liam’s job is to come here and compete. That’s what you want, you want competition all over the park. “You have 24 or 25 competitive animals who are all keen to do well. You have to have that respectful competition for places. “Liam will want that No.1 shirt, and Joe’s job will be to keep it and show what he can do.” The transfer is subject to international clearance.

....also from the Offie more on Kelly www.qpr.co.uk/news/club-news/in-profile-keeper-kelly-moves-from-livingston/In profile: 'Keeper Kelly moves from LivingstonMatt Webb @mattwebb987 A GOALKEEPER who has a reputation of being comfortable with the ball at his feet, Liam Kelly has been signed by Mark Warburton as he aims to instil a brand of free-flowing football at The Kiyan Prince Foundation Stadium. Kelly is also no stranger to the recently-appointed R’s boss, after working together at Glasgow Rangers previously. The 23-year-old moves to QPR from SPL outfit Livingston, who he joined permanently last summer following a successful 40-game loan spell from the ‘Gers in 2016/17. Livingston were ultimately promoted to the Scottish top-flight at the end of the 2017/18 campaign. Previously, he had been at Ibrox for 14 years, and also had a loan period at East Fife during the second half of the 2015/16 season. The ‘keeper’s admirers have continued to grow since then, no doubt helped by a tally of 14 clean sheets in 36 SPL outings last term. Livingston finished ninth from 12 teams. On the international scene, Liam earned his first call-up to Scotland’s senior squad in March, following previous recognition at Under-21 level.

From the Offie. The official announcement at Lee Wallace joining www.qpr.co.uk/news/club-news/lee-wallace-completes-qpr-move/Lee Wallace completes QPR movePaul Morrissey @pjmorrissey77 LEE Wallace has joined QPR on a two-year deal following the expiry of his contract with Glasgow Rangers. The 31-year-old defender, who spent the last eight years at Ibrox, is looking forward to a new start in west London under his former ‘Gers boss, Mark Warburton. “I am delighted to be here and really looking forward to the challenge ahead,” Wallace said. “This is an exciting time to play for a top football club. I know I am coming to a great club to work with a top man and a top manager.LEE WALLACE “The main thing that stands out about the manager here is the man he is, the quality of person. The impact he has made on me, both on and off the pitch, has been terrific and that made the decision to come here a lot easier. “I know I am coming to a great club to work with a top man and a top manager.” The move south represents Wallace’s first outside of Scotland, and he explained: “I just felt everything was right. “I have had 15 seasons in Scotland and now is time for a fresh challenge and a very exciting challenge at that.” As Wallace prepares for the English Championship, he says the physicality of the division is one he is relishing, adding: “That’s an area of excitement for me, I am really looking forward to it.” Warburton admits he is delighted to bring the left-back to the club. “I am very pleased,” he said. “Lee is a top-class professional and a lot of clubs were after him so I’m delighted to get him on board.” Warburton installed Wallace as his captain during his spell at Rangers, and added: “He is a natural leader and did a fantastic job for me while I was up there. “He governed the dressing room and set the standards in the right way. He loves his football and is very much into the coaching and tactical side of the game. “He has a point to prove. The last 18 months at Glasgow Rangers were difficult for him. I have no doubt he will come down here absolutely determined to prove many people wrong.” The registration is subject to international clearance.

....also from the Offie www.qpr.co.uk/news/club-news/in-profile-left-back-lee-arrives-in-w12/In profile: Left-back Lee arrives in W12Matt Webb @mattwebb987 NAMED Glasgow Rangers captain during Mark Warburton’s spell in charge at Ibrox, this is Lee Wallace’s first playing spell outside of his native Scotland. A Scottish international with 10 senior caps to his name, the 31-year-old arrives at The Kiyan Prince Foundation Stadium following more than 250 appearances for the ‘Gers over an eight-year period. Wallace is well-liked by Glasgow Rangers fans, not least because he played a key role in guiding the club back to the SPL – from the Scottish fourth tier – after the ‘Gers were penalised for hitting real financial difficulties. The left-back moved to Ibrox from Hearts in July 2011 for a reported fee of £1.5million – initially putting pen to paper on a five-year deal. Edinburgh-born Wallace joined Hearts’ academy from nearby Salvesen Boys Club, and earned a professional contract in July 2004. He made his debut in early 2005 and was an important squad man when the Jambos were runners-up in the SPL in 2005/06. Wallace also helped Scotland to the final of the European Under-19 Championships in 2006, before gaining experience in the Champions League and UEFA Cup. His driving runs from full-back were a regular feature at Hearts and, in 2009 – after helping the club back into Europe – he was voted players' player of the year at Tynecastle. The 6'1 defender retained that award in 2010 and was made vice-captain after over 150 competitive appearances for Hearts. Dependable and strong, Lee made his first full international appearance against Japan in October 2009, having previously represented Scotland at Under-19, 20 and 21 levels.

I suspect Kelly will be our first choice keeper, too. I doubt Warbs bought him to sit on the bench, he obviously fits in with the style of play he wants from our keeper.

Lumleys kicking hasn't been great and he often puts it out of play when taking goal kicks. It will be interesting to see what happens here. What I have read about Dieng, he is rated very hghly and we are keen on giving him a new contract, could it be that Lumley and Ingram both leave and we see Kelly, Dieng as 1 & 2?

Can't see Lumley going but the word is that if Dieng decides to re-sign he will be loaned out again. Saw a bit of him as Foxtel in Aus shows the Scottish Prem and I was impressed by Dieng. If we can hold onto him and loan him out that would be good IMO.

On the Liam Kelly signing.
I don't think that Dieng will be signing a new contract. Surely, he would have done so by now if he was going to? Matt Ingram is not good enough, so in my mind, that left us just with Joe Lumley as a first team 'keeper.
I like Joe. I like how he talks to his defence, but I do have doubts that he is any better than Alan Spratley was (many years ago). We then signed a good young 'keeper to replace Spratley & I feel this is what we are now repeating.
Not that I'm sugesting that Kelly will be close to the ability of Parkes! I wouldn't know as I've never seen him play, but I dfo have a positive feeling towards this signing!

I wouldn't know as I've never seen him play, but I dfo have a positive feeling towards this signing! Yep - quite right IMHO. Goalkeeping position is a tough one alright. Smithies was very poor in his first cup game. I concluded that it was highly unlikely that he would make the grade as a first teamer. After a lengthy wait, he became a hero. Countless penalty saves, saved the team in numerous games etc. But late on Clive was to highlight a near post weakness. We thought we were robbed when Cardiff took him for far too low a fee, for him to sit on the bench for a year and look pretty average when he did play for Cardiff. He will probably be elevated to first choice next season as Cardiff sell and re-build. But no worry - we had Ingram, a superb keeper who has been so unlucky to sit on the bench behind the superb Smithies. But we ruined his confidence very quickly to a point that he will never recover at QPR. We loaned him out to Wycombe and he was a hero again! He is probably desperate to leave QPR but reluctant to lose the wage. Dieng our Swiss not so young youngsters got put out on loan to Stevenage and Dundee United. Got some of his wages paid for, gave him some experience, last year of his contract, just to wind it down and release him It was not long before my Stevenage supporting friend was emailing me to tell me what a great keeper we had loaned them - 'Really?' I said. You can image how he subsequently felt about Chair! Then similar Dieng reviews come in from Scotland - so we better try to keep him with a new contract - and then loan him out once again. Unlikely! Meanwhile, Lumley (fresh from several successful loans) becomes our new hero. I think I should state here, that I have never had an issue with his kicking. Having found out that we cannot play out from the back, he was able to kick long with far great accuracy than Ingram. His fine early form was never going to last the season anyway, but as the team went into rapid decline there were quite a few occasions where we muttered 'Think Lumley could have done better there'. Being a big guy, sometimes he seems quite slow to get down and even when he has got a hand to a penalty, he does not seem able to keep the ball out. But I would and still am happy to see him start the new season in goal. But with Dieng and Ingram surely departing, he badly needed competition. Was Ingram ever going to be considered a threat to him? So eventually we come to Kelly. A no brainer for me. At £50k and with us needing another keeper, why not? 4 year contract is a huge act of faith, but is clearly part of our buy to sell strategy - it will be either him or Lumley that generates much needed transfer funds - just a question of when. But at 23, Kelly is still young and could have up to 15 years ahead of him. I have watched the videos and I am none the wiser really. Watching a video of his best saves tells me very little about how he organizes his defence, commands the box or even how many crucial errors he is likely to make. He has received good International recognition , but not in a very competitive market. He expects to be number one and although he will start as number two keeper, will get an early chance in the cup game and as soon as Joe has an off day. So, for me, it has to be very good business and I think we are in a very much better place having spent just £50k on two players. Goalkeeping position is a tough one alright.

Yup, I think that's pretty much spot on.
Agree on Lumley's kicking - it's not incredible but he was clearly told to knock it out wide to Wzsolek and Furlong as they were people capable of winning the ball and holding it and to parrot Clive, if you're target is only ever by the touchline, the ball is going to end up going out of play sometimes. If we had a central midfield target who could win headers and recycle the ball, I don't think we'd have noticed any issue with his kicking.
I think at £50k Kelly is an asset worth picking up regardless. Provides competition for Lumley (though I do suspect that Warburton immediately has a preference for Kelly, but it's Lumley's position to lose) and as a lot of us have said before, Ingram needs a fresh start somewhere else.
Considering the standard of Dieng's loans to date, I wouldn't necessarily think he'd assume he'd be gunning for a first team berth here just yet but maybe that's harsh at his age and considering the other players who have had a chance. No contract renewal yet, so he is probably assessing whether he wants another loan to prove himself or wants to move on. Either way, he is getting paid to play first team football in some form - can't see him sitting as third choice when Brzozowski has stepped up.

If memory serves me correctly, Dieng was offered a contract extension before the option of signing Kelly was on the radar. If that's the case then having another keeper ahead of him in the pecking order may affect his decision making. He was solid at Dundee Utd so the other Scottish Prem managers will know him and afterall, Livingston are looking for another Scottish Prem level keeper! Having said that if Ingram leaves, Kelly gets the First Team spot and Lumley gets the hump and leaves it would be good to have Dieng as the back up keeper.

I think the keeper situation will all sort itself out over the next couple of weeks and at present we are comparatively overloaded in that position.
With the new full back signed up it is more interesting to know what the plans are for central defence and even more importantly up front. If Smith goes, as is now rumoured, we are going to be short of strength or be playing people out of position - not my ideal choice. Nothing on the rumour mill about either forwards or central defenders yet as far as I know. True it is early days but we all know how time flies and clubs get squeezed later in the window.

From the Offie. Clint Hill thinks our ex Rangers signings are good business and he should know having played with Lee and Liam was in the juniors at Rangers. www.qpr.co.uk/news/club-news/clint-hill-praises-brilliant-early-business/Clint Hill praises “brilliant early business”Paul Morrissey @pjmorrissey77 CLINT Hill has labelled the arrivals of Liam Kelly and Lee Wallace as “brilliant early business” by the club as Mark Warburton builds his squad for the 2019/20 Championship campaign. Hill, who made more than 180 appearances for QPR between 2010 and 2016, worked with Kelly and Wallace during his 12 months at Glasgow Rangers in 2016/17. Goalkeeper Kelly signed a four-year deal from Livingston on Friday, while defender Wallace joined on a two-year contract the same day. Lee is a great leader and influence in the dressing room. CLINT HILL “When you look at the arrivals of Lee and Liam, it represents brilliant early business by the club,” Hill told www.qpr.co.uk. Wallace spent eight years at Ibrox as a left back, and Hill explained: “It’s a good move for both parties. “Lee is a great leader and influence in the dressing room and I saw that first hand. He has been through the good and bad times at Rangers and that shows the type of character he is. “I know what the pressure is like to perform at that club and he knows it far more than me. He can handle that which says a lot about his capabilities because he knows what it takes to play football under pressure which is a big asset to have.” Hill was a hugely popular player amongst the QPR fanbase and he believes those same supporters will like what they see from Wallace, adding: “I think they are really going to take to Lee because he will always give the shirt 100%, he will bomb forward when he can and be the first to track back. “I know QPR fans love their maverick number 10s, but they also like players that play with their heart, and Lee is certainly one of those. “He will give you everything he has.” While Hill didn’t play with Kelly at Rangers – the youngster was on loan at Livi – he does believe he has the credentials to do well for Warburton. “Lee is a hell of a character, a funny guy and a very good goalkeeper,” Hill said. “Over the last 12 months he has proven himself to be one of the best keepers in Scotland so it’s a great signing.” It was now-QPR boss Warburton who took Hill to Ibrox following his departure from west London, and Hill is looking forward to seeing how his old boss gets on at his former club. “He is a good, solid appointment,” said Hill. “He got Brentford playing good football and won promotion with Rangers so I really hope he can help QPR to kick on now. “What I can tell the QPR fans is that he will get the team playing a lot of football, he likes to be attacking and play through the thirds so I am really looking forward to seeing how things go next season. “I think his arrival is a good fit all round.” As for his own career, Hill is enjoying life as a coach at Fleetwood Town where he is part of ex-QPR team-mate Joey Barton’s backroom team. In their first season at the club, they finished 11th in League One. “I’m getting greyer and getting fatter!” Hill joked, “but I am really enjoying it. “Coaching was always a natural progression for me. We made a good solid start this season and our aim now is to push on. “If we can get the recruitment right, hopefully we will do well but we know everyone in the division will be feeling the same.”

Defender in London ahead of reported QPR move, subject to medical – Three-year deal - Barbet By Tom Coast - 18th June 2019 SHARE Having run down his contract at Brentford, Yoann Barbet is now free to sign with any club, and the 26-year-old isn’t expected to be going too far, according to reports in France. According to Nando Chachalana, who is well respected in the Girondins de Bordeaux sphere, the centre-back is currently in London ahead of putting pen to paper on a three-year deal with Queens Park Rangers. Should everything go to plan with the medical, the 26-year-old will then continue his career in the Championship with QPR, who finished the 2018-19 campaign in 19th, eight places behind Brentford. The player, who was a youth player at Bordeaux, signed for the Bees from Niort back in 2015, and made 118 appearances in four years, scoring seven goals and picking up four assists. Barbet was very open about his decision to leave Brentford, telling football.london he was the one who turned down the chance of renewing his contract, ‘wanting to try something new’. It appears it will be Queens Park Rangers and Mark Warburton who will reap the benefits next season. sportwitness.co.uk/defender-london-ahead-reported-qpr-move-subject-medical-three-year-deal/

"QPR is a massive club" lol
QPR have completed the signing of 26-year-old centre-back Yoann Barbet.
The Frenchman joins on a free transfer following the expiry of his contact with Brentford.
After agreeing a three-year deal with the R’s, Barbet told http://www.qpr.co.uk: “I am really excited for this new challenge.
I am a really passionate player so as soon as I am on the pitch I give everything.
= “QPR is a massive club with a big history so I am really happy.
“I will give everything. I am a really passionate player so as soon as I am on the pitch I give everything.
“I try to lead the team and to help other players, to make them confident. I will do my best to help them in a good way and the team to do as best as possible.”
Barbet also praised his new gaffer, Mark Warburton, admitting: “The manager made the difference for me. When you have a manager who wants you it is always good.”
Warburton, who signed Liam Kelly and Lee Wallace last week, is delighted with the capture of Barbet, adding: “I am really pleased with the quality of the players we have brought in, in terms of their characters on and off the pitch.
“Yoann is someone who knows the division well, having made more than 100 appearances for Brentford.
“He has displayed his attributes in that time and is a natural left-sided defender so I am delighted to have him join us.
“He is a technically outstanding player. He never hides from the football, he has quality distribution and he has presence on the pitch.”
Warburton had left Brentford before Barbet moved to Griffin Park in 2015, but applied the personal touch to ensure the defender chose QPR over a number of alternative options.
“A lot of people wanted him,” Warburton admitted, “so I flew out to see him, and to speak with him and his agent.
“You have to do what you have to do in order to secure the move and it’s great to get it over the line.
“It was good to have a number of conversations with him because you get a sense of what he wants out of his football career and what he is looking for in terms of a challenge.
“I am looking forward to working with him.”

Unless we are shipping someone out I can't see any more defenders coming in.
