Bored & can't be arsed to do any more at work today so I've dredged up the courage to enter message boards as I expected to read absolute bollocks about last night!
Firstly, I wasn't there & so have no knowledge of how we played or what result we deserved. This applies to most of you that have posted on this thread!
Secondly, With the team that was selected I expected to win & I'm disappointed that we lost. However, I'm no more upset than I was following cup exits during the past decade or more. Wewre we going to win the League Cup? NO! Would we have made much money from a cup run unless we reached the last four? NO! The team changes & result are no different to what we experienced under Redknapp, Hughes, Warnock & probably others.
Thirdly, Harr, you refused to include the Yeovil game (or any cup game for that matter) in any statistics so last night has no bearing on the CR record! Realistically, what difference is last night's result going to make for us? The worst thing about the defeat is that we have lost another game we should have won. The best thing about the result is that I don't need to find excuses to avoid more midweek matches!
Fouthly, Paul, what consequences would CR face if we lose at Huddersfield? I certainly expect that we will be loose! Would this be worse that the away performances we suffered under the past three managers? Was last night worse than cup results under the past three managers? I might also ask if you have recovered from your dizziness? Your comments on Saturday were a 180 degree U Turn from previous & now you have gone full circle again!
Those that I feel sorry for, are the faithful that attended last night. Other regulars, like me, that decided to stay at home can have no more than regret!

For my sins I was at Loftus Road last night. I’ve not seen us win a cup match since we beat Leicester 5 - 2 in January 1987 and reckoned this was as good an opportunity as we’d have even suspecting that the fringe players would get their chance. Exchanging my usual perch at the very back of the Loft for the front row of The South Africa Road stand offered a very different perspective of the match, unfortunately not a different result.
I’ve no problem with Ramsey using the match to further assess our backup players, but I do have a problem with how some of them played:
Jay Emmanuel-Thomas – took an eternity to pick up any speed, wanted to control every high pass on his chest even when a flick on would have benefited the team, and for a big bloke was knocked off the ball far too easily.
Junior Hoilett – still racked by indecision resulting in him being quickly surrounded and missed our best chance of the night when played in by Polter.
Oscar Gobern – I can’t think of one noticeable effect he had on the match.
I was nothing like as dissatisfied with the others, most of whom are generally still in the early stages of their career and desperately need more experience:
Alex Smithies – not overly worked, made one good save but was caught out under a high cross and Hill had to clear from under the bar.
Darnell Furlong – didn’t show much
Cole Kpekawa – quick and strong
Michael Doughty – I think he reads the game quite well, always competes and keen to organise those around him.
Reece Grego-Cox – let down by his poor first touch, played out of position?
Sebastian Polter – still very raw, maybe too raw for his age, but did set up a couple of decent chances for on running midfield players and a turn and run fashioned a decent shooting position for himself.
Grant Hall – I’ve been happily impressed with what I’ve seen of Hall, commanding in the air, composed on the ground and very aware of what is going on around him, I’m sure he will only get better.
Clint Hill – nothing new to be said about Clint.
Brandon Comley – keen to be involved once his nerves had subsided, mainly fetching and carrying.
Massimo Luongo – class act, breathed some life into our attack
Tjaronn Chery – tried too hard to turn the game around singlehandedly.
For me the match was summed up by a free kick we were awarded around the half way line; in two kicks we had it back to Smithies. The midfield three found no space and failed to carry the ball forwards. When Polter laid it back to them they dithered, stumbled and lost it.
I think that it is important to remember that we are currently 12 injuries away from playing this as our team in The Championship. Yes a couple of important first choice players may be sold, but we will not be seeing this eleven as a team again.
I still think it was worth going, where else would I have seen a player called Troy Archibald-Henville!

Sad thing is it's not even a shock , all teams that draw us in any cup, must fancy turning us over with little resistance , you would've thought though that the fringe players would have something to prove , but didn't sound evident , how many opportunities does Hoillett need , he has become the new SWP I'm afraid .

I had this conversation with Kilburn weeks ago Terry saying I wouldnt ever include any cup games in a Managers win percentage, thats just me personally. Lots of stats sites do include cup games and any of you can if you want. It has no bearing on Ramseys win percentage as a Manager when I wish to do stats yes correct. What relevance has it to how we performed though and what relevance to the result ? I think it would have kept the winning mentality, a little bit of feel good factor, little more confidence in Ramsey, all that were lost when they shouldnt have .

All summer you and others (pro Ramsey) have been telling me and others (anti Ramsey) to wait and see what happens when TF and CR get their own players, and especially wait to see how the kids do. As I posted on another thread, take Hill and Toilett out of last nights team, and it is very much Ramsey's and Ferdinand's. Hall, Smithies, Polter, Jet, Goeben, Cherry and Luongo are all his signings and the others, were the kids they thought were good enough. He even said that team last night could actually play a Championship fixture! After two great wins, and getting people to warm to him, Ramsey then plays Jedi mind tricks by picking a team that would struggle to beat your local dog and duck pub team. If we loose to Huddersfield on Saturday, after surrendering a home banker last night, he deserves what he gets for his error of judgement last night. I find it very informative that once again you are trying to personalise a discussion into a points scoring exercise, and to polarise different opinions into black and white "camps".
To put the record straight: All Summer - I was off the board from February until late July so I think All Summer is incorrect you and others (pro Ramsey) - . Apart from the attempted personalisation I am not pro or anti Ramsey. I am pro QPR and believe in being patient and giving people a chance. My mood and opinions do not swing wildly from day to day because of any one specific performance or result. have been telling me and others - I have not been telling you anything. I post my opinion and if that differs from your own so be it. Posting an opinion may involve quoting another post in full or part, or addressing an individual point within another post. If you take that personally that is your problem. especially wait to see how the kids do - I do not recall saying any such thing about "kids". On the contrary I have posted about needing a balance of experience and younger developing talent.
On the actual topic If we loose to Huddersfield on Saturday, after surrendering a home banker last night, he deserves what he gets for his error of judgement last night. I am not sure where the logic appears in this statement. If Ramsey is to suffer "consequences" for an error of judgement last night those consequences should occur now and are not dependent on the result on Saturday. If that were to be the case the natural progression of the discussion is that any "consequences" of last night will not actually happen if we win on Saturday. If we lose on Saturday any "consequences" will stem from the cumulative effect of results not last nights.
The assumption from Paul M and he has a valid point . Ramsey rested 10 players as he wanted a fresh team to beat Huddersfield and not risk picking up injury. The team he selected failed badly. If therefore Huddersfield turn us over, not only do we lost the three points but also chucked away a Liverpool tie on the back of it but putting out the weakest team we probably could have. Personally, will be happy with a point at Huddersfield.

When PaulMason says "consequences" I think he means that Ramsey will get very harsh criticism if we get nothing out of the Huddersfield game and not anything nefarious like to be cursed with a plague of boils on his arse. Like Harr just said, I think this is true. Ramsey has gambled and we'll see if that gamble pays off on Saturday. But even if we lose, it is still too early to start lancing boils.
One other little point - my brother is a Yeovil season ticket holder and he was at that game (I would have too if I had not been on holiday). He said QPR never got out of first gear and won at a canter because yeovil were so poor. Sturrock released almost the entire Yeovil squad at the end of last season and these players only just started together. Yeovil finally got their first win at the weekend after losing their first 4 games and even then they went 2 nil down at home.
Basically, that Yeovil win flattered the team we put out.

That made me chuckle blatant I think maybe that was the case with Yeovil but you still cant hide the fact we only made about 5-6 changes that game. Perch Onouha Green Phillips Hall and Gladwin all started v Yeovil . Last night we made 10 which was to many for any team let alone our weak second string.

Good post. How bout hoiletts chest and volley, great bit of skill that deserved a goal:) Agreed that was a good bit of skill. He received the ball in their box on his chest with his back to goal but at a steepish angle. His control knocked the ball up, he leaned backwards and as he fell kicked the ball over his head towards the goal. It may well have beaten the Wolves goalkeeper last week, but was an easy save for Gillespie. I don't think he had anyone to lay the ball back to, so it was worth a go. I thought the Carlisle supporters were excellent; they deserve their trip to Anfield. I wonder how many were down from Cumbria, the few I spoke to live further south than me.

Nice post Roller. In your opinion is it fair to say Furlong and G Cox are not Championship level on this showing and should be loaned out ? Is it a fair assuption that JET and Poulter have a fair amount of work to do before they might be regular Championship goalscorers ? I'd lie to see them both get some match experience here playing with their team mates in our system, but how often are we going to be comfortable enough this season to bring them on? Both would probably benefit from a loan spell but is our squad deep enough to allow this? On balance I'd keep Furlong here and loan out Reece if either Austin stays or we get a suitable replacement for him, but I'm open to persuasion on this. I shouldn't write off someone so readily, but I'd be amazed if JET becomes a regular. Maybe if he got a run in the team he'd up his game, but on what I've seen of him this season I'd play Petrasso ahead of him. I like Polter. He puts himself about, bruises defenders and brings our attacking midfielders into play. He won't score goals at Austin's rate, but those around him should get plenty of chances.

There were reports they brought nearly 500 down ? www.bbc.co.uk/sport/0/football/34062386Keith Curle: Fans deserved Carlisle United celebrations Manager Keith Curle says the exuberant celebrations after Carlisle's League Cup win at Championship side Queen's Park Rangers were to show their thanks to the loyal travelling supporters. The League Two Cumbrians won 2-1 in one of the shocks of round two. Curle and the club were rewarded for the victory with a trip to Anfield to face Liverpool in round three. "We were just showing our appreciation for the miles travelled and support we get from our away fans," Curle said. The 458 fans who made the 634 mile round trip to West London, have already travelled to Plymouth and Mansfield so far this season. "It was done in the right manner, we need to show the appreciation we have for our away fans - at times all you could hear was Carlisle's Blue and White army. It's brilliant," former Rangers coach Curle told BBC Radio Cumbria.

We should be flexible with Polter specially as he is playing in a different country and league. Petrasso broke his ankle last season but was in Italy with the EDS. Perhaps he is struggling with that. Rory may know. You are probably right about RGC, but we can't afford to leave ourselves short. If he has no chance of any time on the pitch then we should loan him out.

Good post Roller, good to hear from someone who was at the ground.
Anyway, its done now and as they say, you can't put the toothpaste back in the tube. Bitching and moaning about it from hereon in won't change the result and won't lighten the mood around here either.
I've said my piece and so I'm moving on to Huddersfield away now. Get a win there and this will all be (mostly) forgotten, especially as the current top 2 play each other this weekend so we have a chance to gain ground on one if not both of them if we win.

Morning Terry What consequences would CR face if we lose at Huddersfield? No more than the stick people dished out to Harry last season, when he rested seven players in the cup game v Sheffield Utd (Lost 0-3), as we had Burnley (lost 2-1) in the PL, the following week. It was a huge error of judgement picking those players and he was not man enough to blame his team selection, but blamed players instead. (I still find it funny that people could and did say what they want about Harry and got away with it, but say something about Ramsey and you are the anti Christ) I might also ask if you have recovered from your dizziness? As I said, 3rd is an excellent position and until is brain fart on Tuesday, looked like he could be heading in the right direction. Your comments on Saturday were a 180 degree U Turn from previous & now you have gone full circle again!Like others on here, I have my views and on Ramsey. I am adamant he is a clueless puppet of Ferdinands, who needs arm bands and rubber rings, as he is so far out of his depth, you know the rest......... After the wins at Wolves and Rotherham (If you take Austin and Phillips contributions out of both games though....) I thought maybe I am being a tad harsh, maybe he ain't that bad and maybe he is learning. Against my better judgement, I thought what they hell and said he could be on the start of something etc..... Then for whatever reason, he threw a home banker by making 10 changes and picking a team, no other person on this planet would have picked. Then after picking the team, his substitutions were criminal. Some may say he shot himself in the foot, I say he got a sawn of shot gun and blew both his feet off. After the game he blamed players, not the team he picked and the most criminal thing of the entire night, was when he said "the team I put out could quite easily feature in a Championship match"

Thanks Paul.
I have nothing to disagree with you on those comments (not that that matters!).
I did want to win & I expected that side to have done so. I've not read Ramsey's match comments, but I certainly wouldn't like him to blame the players & try to deflect any culpability from management.
I do feel though that a defeat at Huddersfield would have produced exactly the same on boards whether we had beaten Carlisle or not.
I can't make the match on Saturday, which is a great pity as I love a certain pub in that town for a pre match drink!

I don't get the argument that just because they're a League Two team it means we should be guaranteed a win, upsets happen in football every time, history proves that. Hell, Exeter managed to score 3 against a full strength Sunderland who were playing at home...
Yes, that team was strong enough to beat Carlisle but they didn't because they failed to take their chances. League Two teams beating higher division teams in the cup happens every year

I dont care about how all the other teams fared, although to my knowledge only one Prem team lost in this round? My gripe would be we made the job ten times harder by replacing the whole team bar one, then our first sub on was another inexperienced player. Lets hope resting them all makes it worthwhile Saturday . There was only one bonus from that gutless result Tuesday, we didnt get any injuries to our first 11. Now I have officially moved on
