I wonder if Austin, Green and Philips will get it? Would be a convenient excuse if they weren't playing prior to a transfer. Like the new "slight knock in training". Edit: Talking of situations like that, does anyone remember Ben Watson's performance in the lead up to his transfer (I think to Wigan) I have never seen a player shirk tackles so blatantly in all my life, didn't even try to hide it.

From the Hudderfield Daily Examiner. Looks like the panic is over. .....for now anyway! www.examiner.co.uk/sport/football/news/qpr-chief-chris-ramsey-plays-9947600?QPR chief Chris Ramsey plays down effects of sickness bug in camp08:00, 29 AUGUST 2015 BY DOUG THOMSON The Loftus Road chief is hoping to have plenty of options Queens Park Rangers boss Chris Ramsey is hoping a sickness bug which has affected members of his squad will not cause him too many problems when picking a team to face Huddersfield Town. Midfielder Karl Henry is on red alert as he awaits the birth of his first child. And striker Jamie Mackie (groin) and defender Yun Suk-Young (knee) are ruled out. But the Loftus Road boss is hoping to have an otherwise full squad to choose from. “We haven’t got many injuries to be honest,“ said Ramsey, who can call on ex-Town duo Alex Smithies and Oscar Gobern. “I’m not sure if Karl will be involved. “Apart from that, we’ve got a little bit of illness around the place so we’re keeping our fingers crossed that everyone’s okay. “It’s just the kind of illness that people have at this time of the year when the weather changes, it’s nothing too much.” Ramsey, whose side suffered a midweek Capital One Cup loss at home to Carlisle United, added: “The medical team have done a really good job in getting people on the field so I’m really pleased with what’s going on. “The mood has been good. “When things don’t go well you don’t let that ruin the rest of the week and the season. “There are going to be games where we’re not going to do so well this season and that applies to all teams. “It’s about the resilience we have to show. “Hopefully we’ll go and be able to have a good international break by getting a good result.”

From the kilburntimes www.kilburntimes.co.uk/sport/football/queens-park-rangers/chris_ramsey_insists_he_is_right_man_for_qpr_job_1_4213711Chris Ramsey insists he is right man for QPR job12:15 29 August 2015 Sean Gallagher, QPR correspondent Chris Ramsey has reiterated he is the right man to take QPR forward as they look to rebuild following relegation from the Premier League. Rangers have made a solid start to the season lying sixth in the Championship after back-to-back league wins. But the west London side’s miserable cup run continued on Tuesday night at Loftus Road as they lost 2-1 to Carlisle United in the Capital One Cup, the seventh time in 10 seasons they have been knocked out of the League Cup by lower-league opposition. That led to some fans criticising Ramsey on social media, questioning his team selection for the game and whether he is the right man for the job. Ramsey, though, finds it hard to fathom such criticism considering how early on it is into his managerial reign at the club. He said: “If after this short spell some people are thinking that already I’d be very disappointed - but that’s life. I think we’ve started the season quite well, but maybe that’s just me. “I’ve been involved in football 37 years and I’ve seen people come and go, so nothing surprises me really. “Jose Mourinho was going on an open top bus eight weeks ago and up until last week he wasn’t the right man. “The only time I’ll be concerned about that is when the owners tap me on the shoulder and ask me to leave. “I understand football is a fickle business and the arena I’m in. If some people don’t think I’m the right man there’s nothing I can really do about that, I suppose their always going to think like that.”

From the Offie. A clean sheet about bloody time too! ‘WE’RE DELIGHTED WITH CLEAN SHEET’ ADMITS QPR DEFENDER GRANT HALLPUBLISHED 12:00 31st August 2015 by @qprfc Grant Hall pleased with shut-out in QPR’s 1-0 win at Huddersfield Town … QPR beat Huddersfield Town 1-0 on Saturday It was Rangers' first clean sheet in the league this season Grant Hall says team defended 'fantastically well' QPR achieved their first clean sheet of the league campaign in Saturday’s 1-0 win at Huddersfield Town, and defender Grant Hall was pleased to play his part in the triumph. After conceding eight goals in their opening four Championship fixtures, Head Coach Chris Ramsey had pinpointed the need for the team to be meaner. And that’s precisely what he got at the John Smith’s Stadium, as Hall and Nedum Onuoha dealt with the attacking threat of Ishmael Miller and Nahki Wells. “We’re delighted with the clean sheet,” Hall told www.qpr.co.uk. “In the league up until now we’ve been conceding two goals a game, so we’re very happy to get that. “I thought as a team we defended fantastically, and when we have got the sort of players we’ve got at the other end of the pitch we always feel we are going to score at some point.” TEAM EFFORT: QPR squad celebrate after final whistle at Huddersfield Town on Saturday It was Tjaronn Chery’s 84th minute goal which sealed the points, while Hall, Onuoha, Paul Konchesky and James Perch were busy at the other end of the pitch keeping the Terriers at bay. Miller and Wells certainly kept the R’s backline busy, and Hall explained: “They’re two completely different players – Miller is big and strong, and wants to battle you all the time, and Wells is the complete opposite. He’s always looking to get in behind, and makes clever runs, so it was hard but I thought we dealt with them well. “Me and Nedum are starting to build a partnership now, and hopefully that can continue. We got a clean sheet on Saturday, and hopefully we can get many more between now and the end of the season.” Chery’s goal in the closing stages helped the R’s make it three league wins on the bounce. Hall felt Rangers could have performed better, but it was the result that mattered. DUTCH DELIGHT: Chery celebrates his late goal with Matt Phillips “It was a great time to score, he said. “It was a hard game for us so it was a relief to get the goal and take all the points. “We weren’t at out fluent best, we know that, but if we can not play great and still win, it’s the sign of a good team. “Hopefully now we can kick on and stay high up the league.” Huddersfield had six minutes to find an equaliser, but found opportunities limited as the R’s successfully closed the game out. “I didn’t feel they caused us too many problems after the goal,” Hall added. “They put their centre-back up front, which we thought they would, but we didn’t really give them a chance, which shows how well we defended as a team.” The result leaves Huddersfield at the wrong end of the table, but the fact they are the only side to take points off high-flying Brighton is testament to the challenges of the Championship. “There is not an easy game in this league – not one,” Hall said. “You have to be at it all the time, and when you’re not at it as a team, you have to defend well and keep it tight. I thought we did that well at the weekend.” The R’s head into the international break in fourth spot after taking ten points from the opening five fixtures of the campaign. Not that Hall is too interested at this stage. “It’s way too early to be looking at the table,” he said. “There’s another 41 games to go! We’ll be taking each one as it comes and see where we are at the end of the season.” Read more at www.qpr.co.uk/news/article/grant-hall-qpr-huddersfield-town-2656736.aspx#BQaJJgvrE3U2KoD5.99

Excellent win on Saturday, Cherry is a player.
With Green, Sandro, Fer, Phillips, Austin probably leaving today, it will be interesting to see who we get in to replace them, or will we stick with what we have.
If we keep them, we will have a top squad.

From shoot.co.uk www.shoot.co.uk/qprs-fine-start-overshadowed-by-deadline-day/?QPR’s fine start overshadowed by Deadline Day1st September 2015 Chris Ramsey’s men secured a third successive league win at the weekend, thanks to an 84th minute goal from Tjaronn Chery away at Huddersfield. As a game it won’t live long in the memory, but in winning away for a second time, QPR have already won as many away games this year as they did in the Premier League last season. As it stands the Rs are in fourth place on goal difference. It was the breathing space that Chris Ramsey desperately needed. However, a bigger indicator of what will determine QPR’s season will be resolved within the next couple of days. In previous seasons, the transfer window has seen the club feature heavily. Sky Sports must’ve loved us. Whether it’s in the guise of Harry Redknapp leaning out of his car window or Peter Odemwingie driving to Loftus Road to try and force an apparently non-exist move, you could rely on QPR for some ticker tape news entertainment. However, so far things have been a little bit different this time. The R’s have gone about their business fairly quietly making cheaper signings that scream sense. Buying players for future rather than past performances. As the finances and fortunes of the club have changed, QPR are now in the position where they are desperately trying to hold on to their best players. Charlie Austin, Matt Phillips and Rob Green have all been the subject of transfer speculation for much of the summer. Surely it’s only a matter of time before Austin and Phillips are both snapped up, but what the club need to do is learn from their previous mistakes. Last season, Loic Remy was sold on transfer deadline day. This came as no great surprise to most QPR fans, but shocked manager Harry Redknapp who had said that Remy is ‘too decent’ a lad to leave us in the lurch. As a result the club were left with a tricky season ahead and only three forwards, two of whom were fit. It proved costly. If QPR lose Charlie Austin, the club are left with Sebastian Polter, Jamie Mackie, Reece Greco-Cox and Tyler Blackwood leading the line. Polter has featured a couple of times and looks a handful, but right now, not a Championship goal-scoring machine. Greco-Cox and Blackwood are both very raw. Mackie is the only one with any real proven pedigree, experience and league goals. He needs help. With Austin and Phillips both on the score sheet recent weeks, their value to the club and potential suitors is clearly evident, despite what West Ham Chairman David Sullivan said about Charlie Austin’s ligaments. Both players have behaved with utmost professionalism with neither seemingly looking to force a move. I for one hope they both stay, but as they say it’s the hope that kills you. Two players that QPR are looking to ship out with not a great deal of success are Junior Hoilett and Armand Traore, two incredibly frustrating players. Hoilett’s career has regressed since joining the Rs. He’s always looked short on pace, short on confidence and short on fitness. To sum his time up at the club, towards the end of last season, Chris Ramsey was playing Karl Henry on the left wing ahead of him. Armand Traore is a big of an enigma. A left-back that really struggles with the art of defending but has pace to burn and on his day is a terrific crosser of the ball. Ramsey’s clearly seen enough and both are available on free. QPR’s fine start to the league has been very encouraging and should not be overlooked. Some of the clubs new signings, Luongo and Chery have settled in and are quickly becoming fans’ favourites. After a myriad of long term visions and false promises, the early season form and transfer business suggests that Chris Ramsey and Sir Les might know what they are doing. In order to keep this early momentum up though, the R’s need to be ready to act, if and when the club are headline news on transfer deadline day again.
