Harr I think the point of what we need to do is rebuilding this team and not just putting together journeymen players to hot shot us to the Preimer League. Build a young team and when they are ready to get up, we will see if Ramsey is the right man for the job. But I don't think it will be for a few seasons. If we get in relegation trouble, then we will probably need to make a change, but until then just give Ramsey a chance to build his own team. This team cannot continue to outspend itself, foolishly chasing a premier league status. We need to scout young players from lower leagues and build the correct way. Also, with FFP in order we are forced to do this to some extent. In reality I think after Hughes and Redknapp, both capable managers, we found the manager isn't the problem, it's the system or lack there of, of this organization. Personally CornD I will judge Ramsey on results. Its a results business. So far he has two wins against relegation rivals and two draws, one against a team that were on the beach Maybe he can pick up two more wins this season. No reason why he shouldnt even though we are relegated. There's only one reason CR is currently a Manager, Les wanted him to be. He put the idea into TF s head and made sure it happened. Hopefully it will work out ok but I dont see why we should give him two to three seasons of mid table mediocrity in the championship though just for the sake of it. A year in the Championship would give us an idea of where we are heading and what he is like as a Manager. Anything less than then top 8 -10, I would probably class as failure next year depending on squad. Although before I make this assumption I will wait until I see who is sold and who is bought in the summer. If we keep a good squad and add to it, may think top Six is achievable.

I am betting there will be a handful of youth players, resign a couple veterans and we probably won't be able to bring in much with FFP hanging over our heads. Our best players will be sold, if we are lucky we keep Phillips. The only good news is with a lot of the big contracts being up this year we will actually be able to stay under the FFP penalty line. Also we might want to hope that Brentford gets promoted and we can get some rent money off them. At the end of the day, I do agree that the goal for next season will depend on the squad we have. Obviously if there is no transfer embargo, then it will probably be a much better one.

The average life of a championship manager this season, 9 months!!!. Good luck to whoever gets it. I think realistically its between two people Ramsey or Warburton Clement wouldnt consider us, cant blame him. Neither would MCClaren, who might have just signed a new deal , cant remember. I'm thinking we are going to struggle mid table next year whoever it is. I quite expect our standard next year to be like Cardiff and Fulhams and unlike Norwich's. Deep down, not seen enough from Ramsey, negatives out weigh the positives. If it came to the two I would go Warburton and keep Ramsey as a coach but then he would probably go and join Sherwood If we are in the top 8-10 at Christmas I will be happy at this minute.

If it is to be Ramsey think we will know pretty soon but my money and hopes would be on Warburton. Done a fantastic job with Brentford and is also a very good coach. Have watched and used his coaching drills for a few years now at youth level and boys always seemed to enjoy them and his enthusiasm is brilliant.
Also feel we need someone new who is not tainted by what has gone on this season and not just getting the job because he's pally pally with Les Ferdinand. Although Ramsey comes across as a nice bloke and I'm sure he is, for me I haven't been overly impressed with what he has done so far. Are we truly any better than we we're under Redknapp??? I don't think so and all this talk of the players are behind him and playing for him didn't look like it yesterday or at Palace. The Liverpool game should have also been a massacre but thankfully they are terrible finishers and we got lucky. We couldn't even beat a poor West Ham team at home!!!!

It was a much improved half and credit where its due he turned it round Rory yes. Most teams might have buried us after that first half . Still a home wins a home win. Does he get my vote to be our next Manager, no sorry.

Firstly don't understand or feel the Les Ferdinand bashing is right. Do fans from other clubs bash their own legends, Its embarrassing. It is hardly his fault we are crud. Blame the east end barrow boy not Sir Les.
On Ramsey, hard to judge him really with this team. Let him try to build something for next season and judge him then. He does need to be more positive though. Attacking football is the way to go in the championship if the team wants to challenge for at least the play-offs.
On the list from the 11th of May. Not Malky Mackay, to much baggage the club needs more low profile at the moment, not the circus that follows Mackay. No one has mentioned Brian McDermott. He is scouting for Arsenal at the moment and would for me be a good choice. Someone who is level headed and knows the football league.

I think McClaren still has two years on his contract but that wouldnt make a difference. In fairness I think they outplayed us at wembley last year and deserved to beat us. Although this year I would agree they did bottle it the last few months. Terrible results taking them out the top six on the last game of the season.
I guess Tony will stick with Ramsey . Maybe he will see if CR will beat Leicester . I dont rate Zola either. Warburton and Adkins are the standout contenders for me as Clement wouldnt come.
My guess is Tony has already made up his mind.

One other thing, I fully understand our team was a bit if a mess.
However WBA , Palace , Villa and Sunderland all changed Managers like we did .
Two earlier than us and two later . Once Sunderland pick up one point from their two games ( if they even need to )you will have four teams around that all got a new Manager in and all stayed up.
But as usual QPR FC the only team that does make a change all be it too late and goes down.

Reading during the week that Ramsey tried to get Vargas to go on from the bench against Palace but he refused. Can you imagine that happening with someone like McCarthy, Warnock, Hughes etc. Think that Vargas would have had to get the bus home after waking up from being laid out! Sorry Chris, lovely man but but football manager, never. Stick to the development squads or concentrate on being a well respected coach.

You've quite rightly criticised Rangers this season for not taking their chances and so don't deserve to stay up. In the same vein, Derby may have outplayed us in the Play Off final but they failed to take their chances, especially when they had numerical superiority for the last half an hour of the game. I fail to see how they deserved to win the game. Our defence was excellent in that game yet we never get credit for it. Even the infamous commentary that we've all listened to a 100 times said "from the brink of elimination", it was 0-0 FFS! One other thing, I fully understand our team was a bit if a mess. Im fully aware how our defence played that day, we did fantastically well but the game could have gone either way. Yes possibly more rounded squads if you want to use that phrase but the end of the day, 5 Managers changed and we were the only one that got relegated.( unless Hull beat Man U) We have failed to beat a team higher than about 13-14 th place all season with both Managers failed to take barely any points from teams at all in the top half of the table, yet every other bottom team around the bottom has done, including burnley and leicester with less rounded squads.

Not sure about that Fabs, Burnleys was a pretty small tight unit, they didnt invest much but seemed to have an inner spirit and after 37 games still above us . They still managed points off the top teams . Where was our points from the top 13 teams . From the top seven teams (14 games )out of 42 points we took one point From the top 13 teams (26 games ) out of 78 points we drew with Stoke, drew with West Ham, drew with Swansea, drew with Man City, drew with palace . Is that 5 points from 78 points , the top 13 teams . Those 5 points being at HOME. We lost all 13 Away games away at the top 13 We lost 8 at Home against the top 13. Some fans maybe might call us bottlers ?

That, to my mind, is what makes their squad more rounded. The fact that they're above us, albeit on goal[ diff only, is irrelevant. We're both playing in the Championship next season. End of the day, we just didn't have the quality needed to stay up and that certainly wasn't down to Ramsey.

We did have some good quality , Austin , Green , Fer , Sandro, Phillips , Vargas, Isla , Caulker , Dunne. Some serious Internationals there. We cant keep saying we dont have quality. Fernandes , Redknapp , Ramsey , Ferdinand, Bond, Hoddle, Jordan all part to blame. Nobody is exempt of blame, maybe a few players too. In my book we still underchieved, maybe not by a massive amount but that squad WAS capable of getting 40 points if managed correctly. Its all to easy to say we werent good enough which is true but specifically why werent we.

Phillips has only started to come good since Ramsey took over. It sounds like, from what we're now hearing, Vargas & Isla have been problematic at best. I'd say that Caulker is rather lacking in quality. So, all in all, The only real quality Ramsey's had constantly available to him was Green, Phillips & Austin. One striker, one midfielder & a goalkeeper does not equal enough quality for a manager to keep an already struggling team in the premier league.

Yes Fabs you are correct Ramsey has been without those three for most games. Vargas and Isla , problematic ? Well they may have been recently. They didnt seem so problematic at the start of our season ? Ramsey possibly would have done slightly better with Fer and Dunne but he still hasnt sured up our defence which was the big reason we are down. We still have made stupid fundemental errors and we still have conceded and not concentrated for the whole 90 mins thro Harry and Ramsey. I get the feeling Fernandes will give him the job, not convinced he is the leader to take us forward but we have restricted our own options now anyway as most dont want to work under Les. Lets hope he can be a develop into a good Manager, time will tell. It would be interesting to know what Fernandes expects us to achieve in the Championship next year.

Vargas & Isla - Rumour is that they wanted out before Ramsey came along As for our defence, he hasn't had Ferdinand available, Dunne missing for a lot of games. Onouha has been disappointing all season as has Caulker. Would be good if you could point out where the quality lies that Ramsey would have needed to have shored up the defence. The defence has been piss poor all season because the right players weren't brought in, very little Ramsey could have done to correct that.

Well the Quality was supposed to be Caulker at 7 Million thats why Fernandes and Harry bought him. With Ferdinand to partner him, wasnt it supposed to be a CB partnership made in heaven. None of these things are Ramseys fault, however some Managers have a habit of going in to manage dreadful teams and suring up a bad defence straight away . Pulis can do it pretty much straight away, makes it hard for teams to score against, sadly Ramsey and the team he is managing havnt quite achieved this. Sloppy mistakes, lack of concentration etc and we continued throwing points away. I dont blame Ramsey for all this, just saying IMO another Manager could have possibly kept us up from putting him into the position like Ramsey was first week February for 14-15 games or however many it was. Not going to say it would have been, just a possibility an actual Manager could have.
