Not sure one win in about 11 games warrants it, even if we have improved we still only have 0.7-0.8 pts per game. At this level not good enough and not a home win. Tony and Les will be happy, thats all that matters.
QPR don't need another football Messiah to help them out of their mess - they need Chris Ramsey 13:46, 6 May 2015 OPINION BY DARRENLEWIS Ramsey is set to be confirmed as the new Loftus Road chief at the end of the season - even if they are relegated - but fans should be positive about the future
Ramsey has brought fresh ideas to QPR Earlier this season, in a press conference briefing at QPR, Chris Ramsey was asked what he would be doing if he wasn’t sampling the pressures of Premier League management.
Would he be a train driver or putting up scaffolding? He looked at his questioner and gave a wry smile.
“I’ve got two degrees,” he said. “So probably no.”
He wasn’t rude. He wasn’t offended (I think). And if he was, he did superbly well not to show it.
In fact, the Rangers boss has so far been impressive in keeping his head when other managers around him have been losing theirs.
ReutersQPR manager Chris Ramsey gives instructionsThe boss: Ramsey gives instructions at Liverpool on Saturday Ramsey is no John Carver, floundering out of his depth at Newcastle. The man soon to be confirmed as QPR boss has just as much respect inside the dressing room as he has in the game.
Rangers may be going down under his watch but they are departing the Premier League with more fight over the last three months than they showed over the previous six.
Most of the senior players at the club will be leaving when their contracts are up at the end of the season.
Their performances, however, in the 4-1 win at West Brom, the 3-3 draw at Aston Villa and even the last-gasp 1-0 defeat at home to Chelsea, illustrate the way in which they have responded to Harry Redknapp’s successor.
The brutal truth is that even their best has not been good enough. But they have also been unlucky in some games - they should have had two penalties at Spurs - and shot themselves in the foot in others.
They had a perfectly good goal denied them against West Ham but also missed a penalty in that game.
They would probably have picked up at least a point at Hull had Joey Barton not been sent off for striking Tom Huddlestone.
In the dressing room after the match Barton’s team-mates made their feelings perfectly clear to him. Since then, to be fair, Barton has been excellent.
In many respects, though, going down to Ground Zero is probably just what QPR need. They haven’t been good enough, neither on the pitch nor off it.
That £50million penalty for breaching FFP rules awaits them but the feeling inside Loftus Road is that - with their wealthy custodians - they can suck it all up if it means they can come back stronger.
What they need to do is clear the decks of the players that have been content to sit on the bench (or not even make it) while still shamelessly picking up their unjustifiably fat wage packets.
What they need to ensure is that the agents that took the club for a ride under previous regimes stretching back to their first return to the top flight are given short shrift.
Whey they don’t need is another supposed footballing Messiah to get them out of the mess they are in.
What they need is a Chris Ramsey.
It is easy to look at the results under the former Tottenham coach - just two wins out of 12 - and assume he hasn’t earned his shot.
Chris Ramsey at QPR 2 Wins
2 Draws
8 Defeats
Rangers, however, know that it is about more than that. Ramsey had been fed a hospital pass. He has been working with players that were not his.
Confidence was low when he took over after Redknapp had stepped down, six and a half hours after the January transfer window had closed.
QPR had something of the comedy club about them at the time. A tag they have been keen to shed.
Ramsey and Head of Football Operations Les Ferdinand will help them to do that.
The pair worked with Tim Sherwood at Spurs to ensure the likes of Harry Kane and Nabil Bentaleb bypassed the complacent first-teamers who felt they were doing the north Londoners a favour by being there.
Ferdinand will help turn QPR around Ramsey and Sherwood are already scouring the top flight and the lower leagues for talented youngsters and capable, hungry players who are not motivated my money.
No player coming into QPR this summer will get anything like the kind of salary that some of the wasters over the last five years have enjoyed.
There will be no ‘will-he, won’t-he’ dramas over any of the big names either. Charlie Austin will go regardless.
Robert Green, who has been outstanding this season, will almost certainly get an offer to stay in the Premier League. The club will not stand in his way with Alex McCarthy behind him.
Clint Hill is likely to join the coaching staff. Joey Barton, Rio Ferdinand, Shaun Wright-Phillips, Richard Dunne and Bobby Zamora are all set to leave.
Barton is set to head the list of departures There will be a clear direction. A plan. A reason to be optimistic about the future. The Hoops know that they probably won’t get straight back into the big time in 12 months.
They know that it may take even longer than that.
They also know, however, that they are about to put a talented manager in charge. Which is why QPR fans should not be despondent about the news first revealed by MirrorFootball this morning.
Ramsey’s credentials are such that he should have been in management before now.
He has the required badges coming out of his ears. He graduated from University with 10 diplomas. He has coached in Malta and America. He has been the FA’s Regional Director of Coaching. He scouted for former England boss Kevin Keegan.
QPR have responded to Redknapp's successor positively He has been Head of Player Development at Tottenham. He has worked with Martin Jol, Harry Redknapp and Andre Villas Boas as well as Sherwood.
He worked with Ashley Cole and Peter Crouch when he guided England’s Under-20’s. He collaborated with Les Reed - now continuing the conveyor belt of talent at Southampton - at Under-16 level.
The On Board course that enabled Ramsey and Ferdinand to become boardroom directors was the latest in a long, long line of qualifications that Ramsey has worked hard to achieve to put himself in the best position to seize a chance when it presented itself.
Now he has one. Bournemouth have shown that with a collective will, a sensible transfer policy and the right man in charge anything is possible.
QPR fans should be optimistic about the future. The dead wood is going. The club is ready to bring in and support some exciting young talent - starting with the manager.

That article basically sums up everything I feel about this situation.
I'm looking forward to the summer so much now, knowing that the wasters and overpaid under performers will be gone. Ramsey won't sign old has beens he used to manage decades earlier.
Whatever you may think about his tactics, and I don't think he's a slouch in that department, he's honest, humble and hard working. QPR has been crying out for a leader with those qualities for years now.
So, yeah, I'm pretty pumped about next season and looking forward to seeing what our team will look like come August 8th.

Wouldn't be disappointed to see Ramsey given the job full-time. I think he's done enough to show he has the knowledge and the people-skills to do well.
Given the number of players likely to be leaving and the kind of budget we're likely to be working with, I'd expect us to be in the Championship for 3-5 years - maybe even longer, we have no 'divine right' to get promoted. We could even fall lower - but then that's what the football fan's life is like - look at Leeds, Sheffield United, Wolves - all arguably 'bigger' clubs than us, plying their trade outside the Prem.

Has he? No home win and just two wins overall and everyone is excited ? Plus he has joined Redknapp in unable to get a win against a top half team.
In fact after Saturday we will know if we have beaten any single team higher than 13 th spot? So far taken 1 point from 39 against the top 7 . Can we make it 1 from 42 and go the whole hog.
Either too in awe against the top teams or just not good enough. Considering all the other bottom teams take points off the top ones, know what I go for.
I hope he starts off well next year or attitudes will change fast.

You don't appoint him because "he's a nice. Guy"
Maybe he's the right guy....But far from sure in a Ferdinand-RAmaey rebuild QPR team - with the ever-twittering/spinning and fan following Tony Fernandes
MAybe we don't want to spend much. Ext year and TF will give us rely on youth bs...
I think well be able to judge better in the summer how many players leave and how much we spend on players w

Has he? No home win and just two wins overall and everyone is excited ? Not saying I'm excited, just that I wouldn't be disappointed. I think he's done OK - working with Harry's squad, injuries to key players. Results haven't been great, but performances have been. With just a little more luck and a few dodgy refereeing decisions corrected, we could easily be 6-7 points better off. If Clement or Warburton were appointed in the summer, I'd be just as supportive, but I believe Ramsey deserves his chance.

Every time we are in the top flight I here that word LUCK . We cant be unlucky every season.
Performances have improved agreed. Results at 0.8 - 0.7 points a game havnt improved though and thats what matters if you want to stay in a Division. In a season that gets you 30 points . Considering you are supposed to get a lift Factor when you get a New Manager is it really any better.
Would prefer both of those names you mention if the choice mine but we know the way Tony will go, Les's way.

What players will we actually be left with from the current squad , because I can't see us attracting anyone decent with Ramsey as manager ! ?

Given our financial position which is likely to worsen with any FFP fine, we are not in a position to offer any contracts to those out of contract in the summer, unless they take significant wage drop. A club our size should not be paying more than £30k/week to anyone. So from the current squad, I would only keep McCarthy and Yun, and sell/release all the others. Then blend in some of our younger players - Furlong, Ehmer, Donaldson, Manning, Cox, Doughty, Petrasso. I expect we will make full use of the 7 loan signing rule but with Ramsey in charge at least these will be youthful, promising youngsters from the premier league, rather than Harry's old boys school!

Considering the fact we haven't seen what Ramsey can do with his own squad I'll hold my judgement on his probable appointment until at least midway through next season.
I do however feel he has made some fairly poor decisions this season.

That article is actually quite good. Once those departing have departed and cleared the deck, it would be interesting to see whom Ramsey kept in the squad and which youth might get a promotion. But no good in promoting them if they are going to bench warm.
That article urged me to look again at the situation. Ramsey knows where the problems are and in the off season he will have the chance to show some form. I would be tempted to keep him. But I would lose Bond, Like Jordan & Hoddle, he has offered nothing. Bring in Ainsworth or Derry as an assistant, bring some pride and values back into the club and some positive fighting spirit.

...I can't see us attracting anyone decent with Ramsey as manager ! ? Well, we won't be attracting complacent, lazy, parasitic mercenaries who want to come to Loftus Road for a final bloated pay cheque. But we will attract talented, ambitious young players with something to prove - Ramsey has clearly shown that he's prepared to give them playing time in the first team.

If the club chooses to keep Joe Barton and build a side around him we are doomed to same old stray passing hoof ball game. As for employing clint hill as a coach or even helping out in defensive coaching at the club - we'll end up with the same defensive problems as past seasons. Dunne better candidate. If ffp kicks in you can bet that 7/8 players picked playing on the pitch/ sitting bench in last 6 games will likely to be chosen for new contracts next year.

I don't know why people are so upset about this. He has gotten much more out of Harry's team than Harry ever did. Harry's coaches couldn't even get the team to full fitness, where as Ramsey did in a month or so. Yes, the results have been lacking, but it was a poorly built team that can't defend to save it's life. Considering there will probably be quite a bit of youth on this team, I don't see why Ramsey wouldn't be the right guy. The honest truth is this team will probably be fighting just for survival in the Championship and considering Ramsey doesn't look completely out of his depth in the Premier League, I am sure he will be fine in the Championship. While he failed to keep us in the top flight, unlike Redknapp he never lost the locker room.

Probably because he has only won two games out of about 11 Considering you are supposed to get a New Manager bounce effect when you change, it hasnt been exactly mind blowing. Add to that some strange team selections like a game we had to win WEST HAM . Some weird substitutions, a continuation to keep playing Clint Hill. And the small fact we havnt won a home game . He is a breath of fresh air in interviews, he has improved M Phillips who looks a new player, there is a team improvement. End of the day Wins count but he hasnt got many. I'm not particularly over impressed yet.

Didnt take long to come out with the "BARE BONES " comments. When he first took on the role a few weeks ago CR said he would just get on with it blah blah blah.
When asked why QPR are where they are, First thing he mentions Injuries lol. Like no other team gets any all year.

I agree with Rory. Judge him next season when he has a clean slate and chance to pick his own players.
This team came into the Prem with fatal flaws defensively, none of Ramsey's making. It's virtually impossible to survive in the Premier League if your achilles heel is your defence and that's going to always cause you to lose games no matter who you have on charge.
For all of Pulls's supposed magic wand us and Leicester put 7 past his Albion team on their own ground. Considering they have a better defence than us its questionable how much difference he would have made over our sad sack "defence" over the course of half a season.
Ramsey won't be picking players he managed 10 years ago who are clearly past it and looking for a retirement home. He won't be signing players because they have a name or a storied history and he won't sign players with known poor work ethics and commitment.
That alone makes him a vast improvement on the last incumbent.

Still letting in sloppy goals. Our Goalkeeper, Midfield , Forward 's have all done well this season but unless you get that defence as a tighter unit, you wont win many games and CR hasnt. Pulis record speaks for itself, i'm not saying he's god, he gets beat occasionally yes, doesn't everyone. His teams generally dont concede masses of goals, he gets the defence sured up when he joins a Club. His teams get results against top teams, unlike Redknapp or Ramsey, no wins from 13 of the top 7 . Ramsey averaging 07.-0.8 points per game. When Pulis went to Palace and WBA he achieved double that and more. Whatever you say he kept up Palace , kept up WBA in my opinion we hired him in November he kept up QPR. Sadly Tony was blinded by bullsh1t. We need to bounce straight back up the first year of trying if possible, after that becomes harder and harder. As we know and so do Wigan , Reading and the others. If we appoint Ramsey and dont get off running in the Championship, how many games do you give him the whole season?

That alone makes him a vast improvement on the last incumbent. I think your last point is the most important. Fact is, we will probably be facing a FFP fine and transfer embargo. If that happens we won't be able to please a big name manager by bringing in "his players". Even if it doesn't happen, this team needs to not get into FFP trouble again. So I think the best bet is just to stick with Ramsey. He knows the youth squad and will be know who to call up to the squad and can give us a chance to do alright in the championship. The last time we went down everyone was looking forward to starting some of the youth players and once again Redknapp brought in his boys. While it worked to get this team promoted, it was not good for the long term of this team. Infact a lot of us believed that this team wasn't ready for promotion and it would ultimately hurt the team in the long run. So let's give Ramsey a chance to build his own team, one that is built for the long term and see how he does in the Championship. Obviously, he has things to learn in terms of management, but in my opinion he has been improving throughout this season. If we are in the relegation zone in December next season, then it might be best to move on. But really my goals for next season are just surviving the Championship and building a young team. We will need to spend a few years in the Championship before we are ready to come up, as a complete rebuild of the team is needed.

If we appoint Ramsey and dont get off running in the Championship, how many games do you give him the whole season? We'll never know with Pulis. But Hughes has as good a resumé as Pulis and has actually improved Stoke from what Pulis achieved there, spending less money too. Had Hughes never come here and failed no doubt many QPR fans would be drooling at what someone like Hughes could do for QPR instead of Ramsey. I wouldn't have turned Pulis down in January if he was available but his record at Stoke of signing fairly mediocre players for huge transfer fees would have worried me, especially knowing our history. WBA had to make a lot of concessions to get Pulis, concessions that Palace evidently weren't prepared to make over the long haul. I wonder how much more of our almost non existent soul we'd have had to have sold to have gotten Pulis in? As for the Premier League, maybe we need some time down in the Championship to actually get the foundations right before coming back up to the top tier again. Our last 2 seasons in the Prem have been total and utter disasters and I don't see the point of rushing straight back if all we're coming back to do is set more Premier League records for ineptitude and winless/pointless streaks. If we don't get off and running in the Championship how about, I don't know, maybe sticking with the manager and giving him time to build a team and get results. We moan about wanting stability but how can you ever achieve that if you keep changing managers every year?

Yes Pulis did get a few dodgy players at Stoke, most Managers do . Look at Mutch and Zarate for us an example at our Club. Im talking about him as a Manager brought in to keep a team up. He was asked to do it twice and did it with comfort both times.
We needed someone experienced like that if we wanted to stay up IMO .
If they want to give C Ramsey time then I would have to accept that decision. We do need to find a Younger Manager we can stick with but is it Ramsey? That becomes difficult though as every time we reach the Prem we end up struggling and the Manager goes.
Would rather give Clement three year deal or even the Brentford boss If Ramsey gets two wins from 14 games say . Why should we let him have a two year deal , just because the players and Les say so ?
What credentials has he got at getting a team promoted from the Championship or any other lower League.

Harr I think the point of what we need to do is rebuilding this team and not just putting together journeymen players to hot shot us to the Preimer League. Build a young team and when they are ready to get up, we will see if Ramsey is the right man for the job. But I don't think it will be for a few seasons. If we get in relegation trouble, then we will probably need to make a change, but until then just give Ramsey a chance to build his own team. This team cannot continue to outspend itself, foolishly chasing a premier league status. We need to scout young players from lower leagues and build the correct way. Also, with FFP in order we are forced to do this to some extent. In reality I think after Hughes and Redknapp, both capable managers, we found the manager isn't the problem, it's the system or lack there of, of this organization.

I think owners beyond spinning and issuing ever-positive (and sometimes contradictory) statements...should be very clear in their OWN minds about what they're realistically aiming for/expecting (not just HOPING) for next season and beyond.
- How much money they're prepared to spend on players transfers and wages next season and beyond - Given we get parachute money & money from sale of players (Austin and Phillips etc)
If they expect instant promotion on a low budget, don't expect it.
If they're not planning to spend much (relatively speaking), then having a COACH in charge makes more sense.
But if they're expecting Ramsey and Les Ferdinand to be brilliant spotters of lower division talent - On what basis is that expectation?
And also what role will Fernandes have
