The move to the White City had become a financial disaster for the club and so in an effort to raise extra funds a match against top Austrian side,First Vienna. Staged on the afternoon of Monday, 30th Jan, 1933, at the White City Stadium on a pitch that had suffered from heavy frosts.
Rangers were well beaten by First Vienna 3-0.
