Still don't understand what he means Even if he WANTS TO WALK!! He's still got to sell the club to someone which includes the CRAP PLAYERS we have on huge salaries which he agreed to!!...........So unless Mittal wants to dip in his pockets NO ONE will want to buy us!!! Sorry TF you've made you bed so now you need to lay in it!! Anyway when we go down half these greedy players will want out as they clearly think they are so good that the championship will be beneath them!!

I'd say there are a lot worse (and no more "competent") than Tony Fernandes- And I say this as someone who's pointed to his "flaws" and publicly criticized him
#STability!

Updated Fernandes Tweet
(Shame he never actually RESPONDS specifically to real criticism but if you fancy a good chance at a retweet, send him a fawning Tweet!)
Thanks for lots of support. Off to play squash with @amit_Bhatia99. Bashing some balls. May put some faces to it. Hahahahaha. Amit aint got a chance though he looks fit

In his defense I would say that he's saying that he is prepared to take the responsibility if we fail. Unfortunately supporters 'knocking him' at every opportunity will not help the cause or show any support for him and for what he has done ! Yes he has made some mistakes-who doesn't, managers have made mistakes and are mostly responsible for the players we have etc. But it takes one awful result in the Cup and everyone forgets that we have made some improvements recently and that yesterdays performance just proved how poor our squad is-even though most thought it was pretty strong at the start of the season !! I don't believe knocking Tony is going to help us at all!

Perhaps IJ and co can interview him and ask him some of the questions which needs answers. He needs to clarify what he means about going if cant fix it, he needs to explain when he will repay the debt his descisions are creating. And what contingency plans he is putting in place to ensure the club is able to run if and more likely when he decides he has had enough.
I am sure i am not the only supporter who wants answers to these and other questions, and i am also sure the IJ team also know this and should be asking Tone for answers.
Personally i want him to succeed, i want him to learn from his errors, but these threats about leaving etc, well make me realise there is no medium to long term strategy, and some of the talk was just PR bull$shit.

hi all, this is my first post on the message board,so let me introduce myself.i'm now sadly 50 and grew up on the wormholt estate and have been a QPR supporter for as long as i can remember.I as well as all you have suffered some terrible football and disappointments over the years but was very proud when returning to the premiership under warnock even though the leeds game was another crap performance. anyway now to the reason for my first post even though i have read this forum for a few years now.i have read with interest the criticism of Tony Fernandes and agree that he has made mistakes in the transfer market by buying players near the end of their careers who have no passion for the club or even pride in their own performance and we all know are only interested in the money.my question would be. who is advising him on these players? but in defence of tony fernandes, what has his crime been?to support his managers with finances that old QPR fans and managers could only dream of. and bring players to QPR(ok most have not worked out)that we would only have seen in the oppositions teams.and promise us the chance of a new training ground and eventully a new stadium which is sorely needed from someone who is a season ticket holder in ellerslie road.i agree that as fans we are intitled to our views but some of that stuff ive read on this forum and twitter are well over the top.we have come a long way over the last few years and i don't see any point in killing the golden goose as there are not loads of millionaires/billlionares queing up to take over QPR and i don't feel we can rely on the mittals and amit bhatia as he has been to very few games this season and has also been very quiet on twitter concerning QPR which makes me think his interest is waining.so although we must keep up pressure on the club to be the best club we can be, the personal abuse of tony fernanes i believe is not helpful and eventully as always it will be us the fans who will suffer most if he walks away. thanks for the opportunity for me to have my say!!!

From the BBC
QPR chairman Tony Fernandes willing to leave QPR
QPR chairman Tony Fernandes says he will leave the club if he cannot "fix" their problems.
The R's are bottom of the Premier League and lost 4-2 at home to League One MK Dons in the FA Cup on Saturday.
Fernandes said on Twitter:Â "Many fans attacking me. Doing our best. As I said we won't stop trying.
"As I have said many times I take all responsibility and will face the music. Always spirit up. If can't fix it I will be first to go."
The Malaysian businessman took over QPR in August 2011 on their return to the Premier League.
In January 2012 he sacked Neil Warnock, the manager who led them to promotion, with the club sitting one place outside the relegation zone.
His replacement, Mark Hughes, kept them up on the final day of the season.
The former Wales boss was then sacked in November after the club failed to win any of their opening 12 Premier League games, with a large proportion of his 11 summer signings criticised.
Hughes was replaced by Harry Redknapp, with the former Tottenham boss implying he would not spend much money on transfers in January if they were adrift at the bottom of the table.
However Fernandes then allowed him to break the club record to sign striker Loic Remy from Marseille for £8m, with his wages believed to be £80,000 a week.
Remy missed the Dons defeat with a tight hamstring.

Welcome wrenboy61 I agree with you- and have alluded to - I don't think if Fernandes that we're going to someone better; and probably a lot worse. I think overwhelming majority of fans would want Fernandes to stay even if we go down. I would. I absolutely agree with you that Fernandes (or others) shouldnt be abused on twitter or on messageboards. I don't think criticism is abuse. And I don't think people here are abusing Fernandes. I know Fernandes has tweeted about abuse. I didnt see the tweets so I can't say if they really were abuse or just criticising him. I also agree that he put up money to back Hughes and now Redknapp. However, I do think it's fair for the Chairman to run QPR Responsibly and not almost capriciously, run up the debts in a bold gamble (Gambling with our future)... That I think is where he should truly be held responsible. I also think the pie-in-the-sky relatively massive (45K) stadium is not going to benefit QPR which i just not that big of a club. hi all, this is my first post on the message board,so let me introduce myself.i'm now sadly 50 and grew up on the wormholt estate and have been a QPR supporter for as long as i can remember.I as well as all you have suffered some terrible football and disappointments over the years but was very proud when returning to the premiership under warnock even though the leeds game was another crap performance. anyway now to the reason for my first post even though i have read this forum for a few years now.i have read with interest the criticism of Tony Fernandes and agree that he has made mistakes in the transfer market by buying players near the end of their careers who have no passion for the club or even pride in their own performance and we all know are only interested in the money.my question would be. who is advising him on these players? but in defence of tony fernandes, what has his crime been?to support his managers with finances that old QPR fans and managers could only dream of. and bring players to QPR(ok most have not worked out)that we would only have seen in the oppositions teams.and promise us the chance of a new training ground and eventully a new stadium which is sorely needed from someone who is a season ticket holder in ellerslie road. i agree that as fans we are intitled to our views but some of that stuff ive read on this forum and twitter are well over the top.we have come a long way over the last few years and i don't see any point in killing the golden goose as there are not loads of millionaires/billlionares queing up to take over QPR and i don't feel we can rely on the mittals and amit bhatia as he has been to very few games this season and has also been very quiet on twitter concerning QPR which makes me think his interest is waining. so although we must keep up pressure on the club to be the best club we can be, the personal abuse of tony fernanes i believe is not helpful and eventully as always it will be us the fans who will suffer most if he walks away. thanks for the opportunity for me to have my say!!!

If he takes responsibility for it, does that mean he'll take a hit on the massive debts he's built up over the past 18 months?

Welcome wrenboy, I wholeheartedly concur. Some of the abuse is mindboggling. I don't mean on here, I mean the twatter crap he is getting from sl called Rangers fans. I assume the name relates to Christopher Wren?

Tony has a gift of lying without actually making it sound like a lie.
Oh no, he'll never go, like he'll never ever sack Warnock and Huhes. Oh wait.

Tis fascinating how some of the QPR Official people are so eager to tweet when we win...But stay silent (or kvetch and threaten to move on) when we lose.

Hasnt Tony always said if things didnt work out, he'd step down and let someone else take over as Chairman but stay a stokeholder in the club? Since when did this turn into leave the club entirely?
As for sacking managers, I dont ever recall him saying he wouldnt sack Warnock? And yes, he stood by Hughes for as long as he could until Hughes had pretty much sacked himself. But arent we glad he did that now?

Lazy journalism.
Takes a tweet and tries to make a story out of it. No interview with TF to actually elaborate on the comments he made or press him on getting his views on his position. Just a few tweets surrounded by useless information that we already know in order to fill his characters quota for the piece.
Treat journalism like this with the disdain they deserve.

Agree...
We don't know exactly what Fernandes meant - or what he might have read that might have upset him.
But IF he was reading tweets which politely pointed to or criticized - and he views THAT as abuse, well that's unfortunate.
Because no one - not even the Sainted Bill Power; or G-d, Terry Venables -was exempt from criticism

The club and supporters should not blame Tony, he is doing his best and we have to be behind him
|
|
|
Post by Macmoish on Jan 27, 2013 16:59:00 GMT
But what does "being behind him" actually mean?
Should he Tony Fernandes be exempt from all criticism?
Should he only be "Hey Tony, can I have a retweet"?
Should we be so afraid that he'll pick up his bag of toys and leave that we self-censor?
Or should we imagine that because he's a (seemingly) friendly millionaire he and we share exactly the same goals. We probably don't

Isn't Tony leaving what most of us were worried about? I guess atleast now he is admitting he will be gone if they go down, but somehow trying to sound dignified about it.

i dont hate or want tf out, my opinion and always was from day one, is that he will leave us in shit, and that has been steadily growing. i base this on various things, the west ham stuff, the transfers, the sackings, the tweeting etc, now most of us see this as tf doing his hardest for the good of the club, which is most likely correct, and its all these failures in every department since he took over gets me worried.
this is where i stand on it, i hope these are mistakes that he can learn by, as mac says. but these mistakes are being repeated, the club is so far apart from the supporters its unreal, worse than it was under briatore. and that is a fact.
i've wanted bhatia in from the start, before tf bought us out. not because of mittals billions, but for the prudent way these people would run our club, they are what we need, and i would be happy to see them takeover from tf if he does walk.
but for now i wish tf learns and succeeds.
