HUGHES EAGER TO GAIN NEW FANS Posted on: Fri 13 Jul 2012 Mark Hughes is looking forward to taking his squad of players to Asia today and hopes QPR can 'gain new fans' during the trip. The R's Manager arrived at the Club mid-way through last term and performed heroics as he steered QPR to Premier League safety. Now he is aiming to have his players in perfect shape for the new season - and says our upcoming tour forms a major part of his preparations. "After our hectic arrival in January, my staff and I are really looking forward to having this opportunity to work closely with the squad and prepare them for the new campaign," said Hughes. Article continues Advertisement "I am delighted to be taking them to Malaysia and Indonesia for our pre-season tour. This will provide an excellent chance for the group to bond and the new arrivals to really get to know their new team-mates." QPR fly out to Kota Kinabalu and play a Sabah Select XI at the Likas Stadium on Tuesday 17th July, before travelling to Kuala Lumpur the following day. The R's will take on Kelantan FC at Shah Alam Stadium in Kuala Lumpur on Friday 20th July. The final leg of the tour will see Rangers travel to Surabaya, Indonesia, where QPR will play Persebaya Surabaya at the Gelora Bung Tomo Stadium on Monday 23rd July. "With the Club's links with south-east Asia, this tour makes perfect sense both on and off the pitch," Hughes added. "I know how big the Premier League is in that part of the world so it is fantastic that we are able to bring the team out there. "At the end of the tour we will return to England with a fitter squad and I also hope we will have gained new fans during our time in both Malaysia and Indonesia." www.qpr.co.uk/page/NewsDetail/0,,10373~2833969,00.html

No Buzz - but I think we all guessed that! Surely his departure is worth a statement on the website?

Forgot him...Yes. And no Buzsaky...
But Dyer's on the trip. (This way he can get his injury out of the way, early!)

No Buzz - but I think we all guessed that! Surely his departure is worth a statement on the website? Dave Mac said on twitter that he was waiting for a situation to resolve itself at another club (Forest perhaps) before he signed for them. I suspect 1 yr deal still on the table from QPR.

Not surprised about the omission of Barton, Buz, Smith, DJ, Hewitt & Hulse
Surprised that neither Young (expect a move for a Right Back now or does Hughes have faith in Michael Harriman with Dyer as back up) or Balanta are going.
Connolly being given a chance is interesting and great to see the promising youngsters, Harriman, Ehmer & Doughty included.
I would imagine that Connolly and Ephraim have the most to win or lose with regard to the selection of the final "25" along with maybe Bothroyd and/or Helguson.

Do we assume (with the exception of Barton) that anyone who didn't make the tour is surplus to requirement?

Yes i think we can safely say Hulse will stay as he trys to break in the team Buzz has three Champs teams after him , probably Blackpool,Reading and Forest. DJ will go , Young could end up at Reading or Charlton , Hewitt will be gone and Smith well probably NW would like him ?

It's always possible/hopefully that Hewitt would go on a season loan (or several month loan) as a last chance
