Not a start. DJ should start, he looked sharp and hungry when he came on.

I think we can all agree that, whoever it is, he is a great and wonderful human being. Edit: and as for Helguson, I think he settled us today. Nothing new - we all know that his talent lies in his positioning, winning difficult balls, holding it up and looking to bring others in. Not sure he is necessarily worth a start just yet, as although Bothroyd isn't scoring, he is still contributing a similar role plus more (well, until about the 60th minute where he looked very strange and distracted and couldn't do anything right for a bit :S)

Send him back to Iceland. why? our best striker last season, and he has not had the chance this season, came on today and done far more in 15 minutes than jay done in 70 odd.

He's a good option to have. I thought he did well when he came on.

Send him back to Iceland. why? our best striker last season, and he has not had the chance this season, came on today and done far more in 15 minutes than jay done in 70 odd. He may have been our best striker last season but the only other options we had were Rob Hulse, Pat and Leon Clarke.

still our best so far do you think he is worth a go? Dj first ,but hh deserves a chance shirley? IMO probably not. Jay may not be scoring but he is still playing quite well. DJ should definitely be started. This may sound stupid but I would actually rather see Hewitt being given the chance to prove himself.

Both looked like he had taken a knock, didnt seem to be moving freely. Heidar probably isn't yet match fit as he has been out injured but a better replacement for the lone striker role than DJ.

I disagree, DJ was doing better than Jay in that role when he came on today. He was winning the ball in the air an created two chances from his knock ons.

DJ is at his best when he is facing goal or running at goal, if he plays the lone striker role his goal threat would be diminished, therefore i would rather see Both or HH playing in that position.

Well he did have freshlegs and was on for first time in Prem, this time around. but he doesnt fit into the picture imo. If the talent was being used to be most effective and if players were giving and going and moving the defence back like the r winger we sold off (name will arrive in 20 mins). would be scoring goals.

bothroyd doesn't seem to enjoy the role and whilst he holds the ball up well he just doesn't make the runs into the box to attack the ball helg does this just proves our need for a striker who suits this system but helg just can't hit a barn door

Perhaps we should try a 4-4-2 for once and see how it goes. Our midfiled has been bossing teams yet have little to show for it. Newcastle, today, Bolton. We've been all over them and have 2 points for the effort.

Yes Andy agree Bothroyd and Helguson together upfront.

Or Campbell and Helguson. Helguson is great at winning everything in the air and Capbell or Bothroyd on the deck facing goal could make it interesting. So who do we give up a spot ? Derry? Faurlin? Barton? Faurlin did some good stuff today but gave the ball away far too much. Derry was solid and Barton should really be played in a more central position.

all very good posts on this, gotta a feeling this debate will rumble on! at home i think we can lose a defensive midfielder and use another striker up front against teams outside the top six!

The amount of times Heidi headed the ball out of play yesterday might be better to consider him for centre half. That bloke's stomach is far too small to be me, by the way, skinny git!!! ;D

HH is a very clever player, he is a great asset to have at the mo, that is until the January transfer window.
