EXCLUSIVE: Reds Swoop For CampMon 20 Oct 2008 Nottingham Forest have today signed goalkeeper Lee Camp on loan from Championship rivals Queens Park Rangers. Camp, who was on the bench for Rangers in their 2-1 win over Forest on Saturday, is committed to The Reds until January and will provide competition for Paul Smith. The 24 year old launched his career with Derby, making more than 80 appearances for The Rams. He also won England Under 21 recognition during his time at Pride Park. He joined Rangers in the summer of 2007 after a successful loan spell at Loftus Road and was an ever-present in the league for the West London club last term. He found himself relegated down the pecking order at Rangers following the arrival of Radek Cerny and has made just one appearance so far this term. Camp will train with his new team-mates for the first time today and will go straight into the Forest squad for tomorrow's night home game with Ipswich. He's the second player to check in at The City Ground on loan in the space of four days. Midfielder Carl Fletcher arrived on a six-week loan from Crystal Palace on Friday and made his debut against Rangers.

Wonder what the reasons really are? Lack of first team action? attitude problem (i.e. not willing to graft for his place)? alleged shenanigans with female members of staff (backroom staff have been booted for that before )? Anyway, all the best to him - he really was great for us

A good move loaning him out, it isn't good for team spirit having an unhappy player in the squad. It will be very interesting to see how he gets on and who we get as a replacement.
Cerny will probably get injured now and we'll end up taking him back!

And a distinct possibility. I hope not and I hope it works out for Lee too. The Hungarian at Sunderland sounds promising.

I make an open offer to Gianni or Flavio: If they'd like to come help moderate, they're very welcome Meanwhile Nottingham Forest explain why they wanted Camp: "Nottingham Forest boss Colin Calderwood has revealed why he made Lee Camp his second loan signing in the space of four days. The 24 year old goalkeeper has checked-in at The City Ground from Queens Park Rangers until January and goes straight into the Forest squad for tomorrow's home game against Ipswich.... And Calderwood told us: "We've been running very light in the goalkeeping department. We let Dale Roberts got to Rushden & Diamonds; Paddy Gamble is at Mansfield and Shane Redmond is at Eastwood, so we've had no back-up to Paul Smith at all. "Towards the end of November the chance to take players on loan closes, so we needed to cover that period. "We've made a move a little bit before that but I think that's wise. We've brought in a player with good Championship experience and he brings competition to the No.1 spot. "Now we've got two experienced goalkeepers, which leads to me having to make a decision. "I'm delighted we've been able to capture someone with a good reputation who had a particularly good time of things last season. "He's a firm favourite with the fans down at QPR and I think his arrival bodes well for our future. It certainly makes us stronger." - Nottinham F official site.

And Dave McIntyre BBC606 says a January fee has been agreed for Camp (and we have a recall option)
And from the Nottinham Evening Post -LEE Camp has been brought to Nottingham Forest to kick-start a fierce fight for the goalkeeper's position, Colin Calderwood said today. - The 24-year-old is expected to be handed his first start when Ipswich visit the City Ground tomorrow night, after joining on loan from QPR. - But manager Calderwood still expects Paul Smith to put up a tough battle for his first team place, over the coming months. - "We have brought Lee in who has good Championship experience and brings competition to the number-one spot," he said. - "Now we have suddenly got two experienced goalkeepers which immediately leads to us having to make a decision. I am not going to give out my team selection in public. But we will have a look at Lee in training and I am delighted we have been able to capture him, a player with his reputation." - Calderwood said he was inspired to move into the transfer market after allowing all three of their young back-up stoppers to go out on loan to gain valuable experience. - "We have been running very skinny in the goalkeeper department recently," said Calderwood. "Dale Roberts has gone out to Rushden and Diamonds, Paddy Gamble is at Mansfield, Shane Redmond is at Eastwood Town - so we have had no back up at all. "The chance to take people on loan ends towards the end of November so we had to act before then. We have done it a little earlier, but that is wise I think
