GILLINGHAM RES 2-2 QPR RES
Gillingham and QPR shared the points in an entertaining encounter at the krbs Priestfield Stadium.
Mark Stimson named an experimental line up with youth team players Luke Rooney, Connor Essam and Olly Bartrum starting alongside trialists Micah Hyde, Joe Howe and Lachlan Cahill while Dennis Oli made his long awaited return from injury in attack.
The visitors started brightly with lively front pair Emmanal Ledesma and Samuel Di Carmine combining to force Alan Julian into a spectacular double save after just two minutes.
It was the on loan Fiorentina forward Di Carmine who broke the deadlock in the ninth minute placing his shot into the far corner after being played in by Argentine partner Ledesma.
Rangers were unlucky not to add to their tally after 23 minutes when Danny Maguire fired a volley inches wide from the edge of the area.
Soon after a neat one two with Romone Rose gave Maguire a sight of goal but he mistimed his effort shooting wide at the near post from close range.
On the half hour the visitors added a second after a mix up between Leigh Mills and Alan Julian allowed Ledesma to lob into the empty net from the
right side of the area
Shortly after the Gills were unfortunate not to find the net when Andy Pugh headed Luke Rooney's left wing cross goalwards only to see it rebound off the upright
At half time QPR took off their dangerous latin strikeforce but replacement Antonio German looked equally threatening firing wide of Julians far post in the 49th minute.
Five minutes later fellow substitute Chris Flood went even closer hitting the post with a rising drive from the right side of goal.
Shortly before the hour mark Gillingham hit the post for the second time with Australian trialist Lachlan Cahill weaving his way through Rangers defence before hitting the woodwork with a low drive.
In the 64th minute Cahill made amends with a stunning 25 yard free kick from the right side of the area which gave keeper Putnins no chance.
Gillingham levelled the scores in the 70th minute when captain Stuart Lewis intercepted a stray pass in the QPR half and set up Luke Rooney who calmly slotted into the far corner.
In the 83rd minute Danny Maguire had the chance to put Rangers back in front but Alan Julian reacted superbly to block his snap shot.
Late on Charlie Stimson fed fellow substitute Tom Murphy in the penalty area but the young striker's toe poke was easily gathered by Putnins

Kent News - Oli returns in Gills reserve draw
Gillingham reseves 2 QPR reserves 2
Dennis Oli made his comeback from injury alongside Micah Hyde in an entertaining reserve game at Priestfield.
The forward, who has been out since September with a foot injury, lasted 76 minutes before being substituted and could return to first team action over the Christmas period.
Hyde trained with Gills for the first time on Tuesday and had a solid if unspectacular game in central midfield. The former Watford and Burnley player will get further chances to impress before manager Mark Stimson makes a decision about offering him a contract during the January transfer window.
In addition to Hyde, Gillingham included two other triallists for the game. Midfielder Lachlan Cahill represented Australia in the under-17 World Championships in 2003 and had a trial at Millwall last month, while full-back Joe Howe played at Welling United earlier this season.
The visitors fielded a strong line-up and almost went ahead inside three minutes, but Alan Julian made two excellent saves. But the reprieve was brief and on 10 minutes Argentinian striker Emmanuel Ledesma slipped a ball into Samuel De Carmine, and the man on loan from Fiorentina slotted home.
On the half hour mark it was 2-0, when Ledesma took advantage of a mix-up between Leigh Mills and Julian to lob into an empty net from 20 yards.
It was not all one way traffic, with Andy Pugh heading a Luke Rooney cross against the post three minutes later.
QPR took their influential strike partnership off at the break and Gills took advantage to seize the initiative. On 64 minutes Cahill pulled them back into the game with a superb 25-yard free kick to cap a decent performance. Six minutes later Stuart Lewis set up Rooney, who drew the goalkeeper and found the corner to make it 2-2.
Alan Julian made one good save low to his right late on from Danny Maguire to ensure the points were shared.
Gillingham reserves: (4-4-2) Alan Julian; Joe Howe, Leigh Mills, Connor Essam, Oliver Bartrum; Luke Rooney (Charlie Stimson, 76), Micah Hyde, Stuart Lewis (capt.), Lachlan Cahill; Dennis Oli (Tom Murphy, 76), Andy Pugh
