BBC Storrie charged with tax evasion Peter Storrie said he would vow to clear his name Portsmouth Football Club chief executive Peter Storrie has been charged with tax evasion. He is accused of concealing a signing-on fee for Amdy Faye by paying it into the midfielder's bank account. Mr Storrie is due to appear at City of Westminster Magistrates' Court on 16 November, a spokesman for HM Revenue and Customs Prosecution Office said. It was alleged that Faye was paid a £250,000 signing-on fee on which tax and national insurance was not paid. The charge relates to the transfer of the midfielder from Auxerre to Portsmouth for £1.5m in August 2003. It alleges Mr Storrie carried out the offence between 1 July 2003 and 12 August 2005. Mr Storrie vowed to clear his name two weeks ago when he was informed of the decision to prosecute him. newsvote.bbc.co.uk/2/hi/uk_news/england/hampshire/8342992.stm

Portsmouth Official Site - Peter Storrie: A Statement Peter Storrie: A Statement Her Majesty’s Revenue & Customs (HMRC) announced earlier that they have decided to prosecute Mr Peter Storrie with a common law offence of cheating the revenue. We regard this action being taken by HMRC as seriously flawed. No evidence has been presented in this extensive 32-month inquiry, supporting any allegation of offending on the part of Mr Storrie. We wish to state as a matter of record that Mr Storrie will be shown to have acted in the proper and wholly professional discharge of his duties as Portsmouth Football Club’s chief executive. Urgent steps will be taken to highlight the lack of evidence presented by HMRC in an effort to conclude as quickly as possible this unwarranted prosecution. Mr Storrie is known by his peers to be a man of impeccable repute. Upon the successful conclusion of these proceedings, that reputation will remain untarnished, as Mr Storrie will not allow himself to be used as a ‘sacrificial lamb’ to justify these unfounded allegations. www.portsmouthfc.co.uk/News/news/Peter-Storrie-A-Statement.aspx
