Nottingham Evening Post
Hotchkiss delighted to be back at Field MillFriday, October 16, 2009, 07:00Comment on this story OLLIE Hotchkiss is delighted to be back at Mansfield Town – and is determined to impress during a three-month loan from Leeds United. The 20-year-old central midfielder first played for the Stags at the tail end of last season, winning over the Field Mill faithful with his range of passing and wholehearted approach...... Hotchkiss goes straight into the squad for tomorrow's trip to Eastbourne and has been made available by Leeds for all Mansfield's FA Cup and FA Trophy matches. Another new face at Field Mill, on trial, is former Queens Park Rangers midfielder Richard Langley. The 29-year-old started his career at Loftus Road and made almost 150 appearances for the London club. He left them to join Cardiff City in a £200,000 deal in August 2003 but rejoined QPR after two years with the Bluebirds. The former Jamaican international has also played for Luton Town and was on trial at League One MK Dons last week. "Richard has a very good pedigree but is coming back from a cruciate knee ligament injury and so is out of contract," said Holdsworth. "By bringing in him here on trial it gives me a little bit of competition." It's time we upped the ante and try to push on and it's important the players recognise that. We have done well so far, but we could still do a little bit better."... www.thisisnottingham.co.uk/homesport/Hotchkiss-delighted-Field/article-1424867-detail/article.html

Nottingham Evening Post Holdsworth promises Stags trialist a quick decisionTuesday, October 20, 2009, DAVID Holdsworth today promised trialist Richard Langley he will make a quick decision on the midfielder's Field Mill future. The former QPR and Cardiff City man began training with Mansfield Town last week after asking for an opportunity. The one-time Jamaica international is on the comeback trail after damaging cruciate knee ligaments in the 2007-2008 pre-season while at Luton. He will play along with fellow trailist Kevin Thornton as a Mansfield side contests a friendly with Loughborough University today. "I won't keep Richard hanging around. I will make a decision as soon as I have had a good look at him," said Holdsworth. "It is very difficult to judge anyone on just one game and I never like to do that. "I have seen managers make big mistakes in that way because anyone can have a 'worldie'."But saying that, Richard is a good character and has a good foundation because he is not carrying any timber. "I have got a good complement in the midfield area and we have looked very solid in there in recent matches. "But I am always looking to bring in quality and help maintain the high standards we have set so far." The game at Loughborough will also see new loan signing Ollie Hotchkiss given a run-out, while those first-team squad members who did not start against Eastbourne at the weekend are set to play at least 60 minutes. .... www.thisisnottingham.co.uk/homesport/Holdsworth-promises-Stags-trialist-quick-decision/article-1432816-detail/article.html

No deal!Nottingham Evening Post - Stags miss out on LangleyWednesday, November 04, 2009, MANSFIELD Town boss David Holdsworth today admitted his frustration at failing to land former QPR midfielder Richard Langley. The 29-year-old has been training with the Stags in recent weeks in a bid to earn a contract as he makes his comeback from a cruciate knee ligament injury. Langley has impressed Holdsworth to the point where the Stags manager was keen to tie the player to a Field Mill contract. But any deal has been scuppered in the financial detail. Langley would have to relocate to play for Mansfield and the club has been unable to come up with a package to make it worthwhile. "Unfortunately we won't be pursuing Richard any further, which is a shame because he has impressed me with his talent and quality," said Holdsworth. "His location to us is the biggest problem and we are not in a position to bring him up here, which would be costly. "These are the things that sometimes happen when you are a football manager. "I maybe have one or two other options, but I'm content with the make-up of the squad...." www.thisisnottingham.co.uk/football/Stags-miss-Langley/article-1479784-detail/article.html

Shame that but given it would seem he did enough to warrant a contract there must be an equivalent team in the south that would have him shirley!!!
