Roy Keane Departs Sunderland Submitted by Niraj Prabhu on Thu, 2008-12-04 11:23. Sunderland Premiership Manager News
According to latest reports, Roy Keane has left Sunderland, who are yet to confirm or deny the speculation on Wearside.
The former Manchester United captain, who had been the manager of the Black Cats, since 2006, had helped the club reach the Premiership by coming out on top in the Championship at the end of 2006-07 season.
It seems that the former Republic of Ireland international midfielder was upset with the manner in which Sunderland had dropped down into the relegation zone of late and made his feelings of insecurity over his future known.
And with the Stadium of Light outfit currently struggling and placed 18th in the table, reports on Thursday morning claim that the 37-year-old and Sunderland have parted company.
According to The Independent, the Sunderland players are understood to have been informed of Keane’s departure at a morning meeting.
