Don Shanks' birthday is actually 27th October, Wiki is incorrect.

Shanksy was in the year above me at junior school and even I, with my seriously limited football talent, could say as an 8 to 13 yr old he was pretty low down the pick for 15 asides in the red ash down Sth Africa Rd. But as we all suddenly found wine women and drugs [it was the sixties] he went off training with Fulham. The rest is history. Particularly remember him with Miss World who was as nice a girl as anyone could ever ask to meet and him being 100% more interested in the next dog race. All that aside a really nice young lad and man. Happy birthday old fella |
