PLAYER OF THE MONTH WINNERS ANNOUNCED
The Coca-Cola Players of the Month for August have been announced.
The decision to present the awards was made by the Coca-Cola Player of the Month awards panel which includes former World Cup referee Jack Taylor, on behalf of The Football League, Steve Bates, Chairman of the Football Writers' Association, Malcolm Clarke, Chairman of the Football Supporters' Federation and Steve Watts, Marketing Assets Manager, Coca-Cola Great Britain.

AMEOBI NAMED PLAYER OF THE MONTH
Newcastle United striker Shola Ameobi was celebrating today after being named Coca-Cola Championship Player of the Month for August.
Ameobi has been at the heart of Newcastle United's excellent start to the season, hitting four goals in as many league games in August. The frontman opened his account for the campaign with an impressive hat-trick in his side's comprehensive home win over Reading. He also netted the only goal to seal all three points for the Magpies in their game against Sheffield Wednesday as Chris Hughton's side continue to set the early pace in the Coca-Cola Championship.
Also short-listed for the August award were Nicky Maynard of Bristol City, Michael Chopra of Cardiff City and Derby County's Miles Addison.
Lloyd Sam of Charlton Athletic won the award in League 1 and Ismail Yakubu of Barnet was given the League 2 accolade.

SAM NAMED PLAYER OF THE MONTH
Charlton Athletic midfielder Lloyd Sam was celebrating today after being named Coca-Cola League 1 Player of the Month for August.
Sam's excellent performances helped the Addicks to maximum points from their five league fixtures in August. Not only did the winger come up with some valuable assists, he was also amongst the goals, with two strikes in a convincing win over Tranmere Rovers to help his side end the month in top spot in Coca-Cola League 1.
Also short-listed for the August award were Simeon Jackson of Gillingham, Jordan Rhodes of Huddersfield Town and Leeds United's Jermaine Beckford.
Shola Ameobi of Newcastle United won the award in the Championship and Ismail Yakubu of Barnet was given the League 2 accolade.

YAKUBU NAMED PLAYER OF THE MONTH
Barnet defender Ismail Yakubu was celebrating today after being named Coca-Cola League 2 Player of the Month for August.
Yakubu's excellent performances throughout the month have helped the Bees to an impressive start to the new campaign. His solid displays in the heart of a defence that conceded just three goals in five league games proved vital for Ian Hendon's side as they continue to keep pace with the early leaders in Coca-Cola League 2.
Also short-listed for the August award were Shwan Jalal of Bournemouth, Danny Green of Dagenham & Redbridge and Rotherham United's Adam Le Fondre.
