AP - Mutu ordered to pay Chelsea compensationUpdated: July 31, 2009 LAUSANNE, Switzerland (AP) - Sport's highest court of appeal has ordered Adrian Mutu to pay his former club Chelsea €17.2 million (US$24.2 million) compensation after it fired him for using cocaine. The Court of Arbitration for Sport ruling Friday was a stunning defeat for the Romania striker who appealed a FIFA decision last August to award Chelsea the record sum in damages for a football dispute. Mutu was fired in October 2004 after testing positive for cocaine and was banned from football worldwide for seven months. Chelsea had paid £15 million (now $24.7 million; €17.6 million) to sign Mutu from Parma in 2003. But it got nothing when Mutu joined Juventus as a free agent after serving his ban. The 30-year-old Mutu now plays for Fiorentina. msn.foxsports.com/soccer/story/9875258/Mutu-ordered-to-pay-Chelsea-compensation
