And we joked about that From the Daily Mail's Neil AshtonDaily Mail/Neil Ashton -Portugal legend Paulo Sousa set to become new QPR manager Portugal legend Paulo Sousa will be appointed the new QPR manager after holding talks with Flavio Briatore in London on Tuesday night. Briatore was tempted to appoint himself as Iain Dowie's successor at Loftus Road but has instead turned to the former Inter Milan and Juventus midfielder, who is currently assistant manager to Carlos Queiroz with the Portuguese national team. It means Gareth Ainsworth, who has been coaching the team since Dowie's departure last month, will be moved aside after failing to convince Briatore. Rangers were beaten narrowly at Manchester United in the Carling Cup last week but it was the home defeat to Burnley last Saturday that sealed his fate.
