Quite a few will depart this Summer (Adomah, Gubbins, Dozzell, Dukes-Mckenna, Drewe, Kaka...any number of goalkeepers etc.).
But will any want out if bigger clubs come calling? The Eze money could change everything. Normally, we cannot afford to turn down an offer, and every player is for sale, but maybe not this Summer?
Our most valuable player, I guess is Chair. But it must be pretty unlikely that we will lose him this window. With the court case hanging over him, potentially losing him to the Africans Cup in January, and then his fasting through Ramadan /form drop off, he cares quite a risk to any suiter just now. I think any bid would be way below his worth to us.
Clarke-Salter must be the most likely departure, but not sure how much he will fetch, or of course if he has a release clause. His agent is working hard, Palace need a centre half, and I think he will end up there. He has a great season and will take some replacing. Fox is ok as cover, but not the permanent role.
I think if Willock is going to re-sign, we will know in the next week. He and Chair have shown recently what they can do together, and whilst our Championship status has been in doubt, you can see why he would hold off signing. But if the new CEO is of a mind to match any offer, it could be interesting. If we need a replacement, I would try for Mansfield’s Davis Keilor-Dunn – we need more goals from midfield.
Begovic seems to be interesting Celtic if stories are to be believed. With 4 keepers out of contract, but I guess at least one will be re-signed, but we shall see. Don’t think that we will get much by way of development fees for the youngsters.
Field has signed a new contract, but we could receive offers that could be hard to resist.
Paal may generate some interest.
There is always noise about Dykes, so we shall see what sort of Summer he has with Scotland.
Armstrong will always generate interest. If he extends his contract, I think he will be loaned out next season.
Jimmy Dunne was full on after Leeds, I don’t think he will be going anywhere.
But the biggest risk has to be losing Marti Cifuentes. I think he has loved his time at QPR, and he is not the snake that Beale clearly turned out to be, but he is sure to be ambitious… but stay with us Marti and see what can be achieved, and maybe even with a decent budget if Eze is sold! It could be a one-off Summer and season ahead.
