Another managerial appointment that I cannot fathom. I guess everyone deserves a second chance, but with his past?

From Wikipedia
"On 25 June 2012, Deeney was sentenced to ten months' imprisonment after pleading guilty to a charge of affray, having attacked a group of students outside a nightclub. The Guardian reported that a "30-second video clip, which was played to the court several times, clearly showed both Troy Deeney and Brennan [Deeney's friend] kicking out at the "defenceless" students, one of whom received repeated blows to the head as he lay injured". He was released after serving almost three months of the sentence. Deeney has cited his grief surrounding his father's death from Cancer in May 2012 as a reason for the behaviour leading to his arrest."

Wasnt aware. Good striker but Jeeze. I'll have to read more about what happened. But if as; then if he was announced for QPR Manager I'd be unhappy - no matter how good he might be I think a Manager has to be "More clean" than a player

It was a vicious attack by all accounts. But he was welcomed back into the Watford team, became a real Marmite character with the fans though. He became captain, was very outspoken, and was said to have undermined several managers. Some fans cannot stand him, others make him a Watford legend. He always denied that he was after the Watford manager job for himself....however... He is remembered by QPR supporters for his comments when playing us that it was our 'Cup Final'. But he has then become a TV pundit on various stations including on BBC Match of the Day. He then became the Forest Green Rovers coach as they lingered in 23rd position. The manager gets sacked and Hey Presto, Deeney is the new manager. I am not sure what others see in him. As a player he was at best an 'old fashioned centre forward' all aggression. As a pundit, he adds very little. As a coach he has achieved nothing, and yet clearly others see something in him. I shall watch and adjust my view over time, but some get more second chances than others.
