QPR 2 Plymouth 1 Ben Waine to score for Plymouth. If he does play, have a close look at him because I felt QPR should've/could've signed him when he was at the Wellington Phoenix scoring a lot of goals. He's from Upper Hutt, my home town.

QPR 0-3 Plymouth
Sods law. Chance to win 4 in a row and move out of the bottom 3 - just the sort of situation where everything goes wrong, we do no turn up until half time, ref gives dubious penalty or rules out our good goal and Plymouth pick us off on the counter.
Hope I am totally wrong and will be happy to be proven wrong but my gut just tells me this is just one of those matches.
So a draw could be a good result if we can pick up 4 points from the next 2 games but 3 tonight the best way to start.

No match thread so thought I would post my thoughts here.
For me 0-0 isn't a bad result, it was a game everyone expected us to win but that was based on looking at the table and their current "form". However, Plymouth have been playing well in a lot of their games and have been unlucky not to win more. They are a well drilled team that play together and defend as a team. They knew what to expect from Chair and every time he tried doing his cut inside they had a player covering it so he couldn't get a shot away. We also have too many players that are simply not good enough, Kelman just looked lost and quite a few people around me were saying that he isn't looking for the ball but getting himself in a position where he cant be given it. This is not a criticism of Marti in any way but we left subbing Kelman far too late, within 60 seconds of Smyth coming on were started creating all sorted of issues. Smyth on at half time and game was won.
We were painfully slow at times too, we spent so much time passing the ball across the middle looking for an opening but Plymouth showed us a master class in defending. Dixon Bonner didn't have a good game in my view, how many times did he fail try putting a ball over the top with the outside of his boot when he had cannon or Smyth shouting at him from behind just to play it on the wing so they can cross.
Overall I will take 0-0, I am not disappointed and I am sure we have seen the last of Kelman, I just hope there is something in the pot for Jan.

See my comments above re forecast result - at least we got the point so a long way to go. Agee re Kelman but I think Marti has been pretty smart in using the small squad that he has to keep some fresh legs on the pitch, when we have 3 games a week and the Xmas rush coming. Unfortunately with our small squad, especially strikers that means we have played some who are not up to the job while the odd suspension and injury have not helped. Obvious we need to get a new face or 2 in January. I thought Dykes should have buried a couple last night but his strike ratio his poor and Armstrong for all his effort does not score. Not to worry onwards and upwards. Just think with GA in charge we would be relegated by now. Happy Christmas and New Year to all.

We were pretty awful until the sending off. Chair, Field and Kakay all guilty of giving the ball away in dangerous situations. After being booked on 90 seconds, I thought Field had no chance of avoiding a red card. It meant that he could not dig in after that and I correctly predicted that Paal and Field would not come out for the second half with their two replacements pretty obvious. The sending off was reckless and with a Prem ref in attendance, it is hard to argue with it. But at the time, I was quite surprised. It was a huge game changer. we looked on the way to a defeat before hand - and I still thought a break away was on the cards despite our 75% possession. But it was noticeable that after half time, Plymouth sat far deeper, clear instructions to keep shape, and not go forward for the next 20 minutes. Then he brought Miller on, for the break aways. He set it up like a training exercise, and they were good at it, and we are not too good at exploiting those situations. But, you need a bit of luck in those situations, a deflection, a slip, a keeper error - but we have had more than our slice of luck lately, and the sending off was our share for the day. Had we scored, the game would have been very different, Plymouth would come after us with nothing to lose, and we could rely on break aways. Hard to judge any of the players, it was like trying to mark a training session. We were shot shy although had 25 efforts. Chair was prepared to cut in and shoot, but they were wiser to that one. Dixon-Bonner tried to lift the ball on to Dykes head, who won the majority of his duels but then finished weakly. Marti is astutely evaluating his squad players ahead of January. He is also rotating and resting ahead of a busy schedule. Bit surprised to see Kelman out wide, supposed to be the best finisher in the squad (but that does not say much) he had one goal attempt. Smyth came on too late but was more effective than Kelman. Richards had a cameo, he needs game time (why does he not play for the development squad?) but did ok, looking pretty unfit. But with 13 players out of contract next Summer, decisions need to be made in the next couple of weeks about who goes and who gets an extension. Planning for the window is key, we remain in the bottom 3 and a couple of departures could certainly dent progress.

was it a first for both teams having 6 substitutions in game ? No idea, but Larkeche did not want to go off. Partly I guess because it means he cannot play on Saturday under the 7 day concussion rule.
