The new Manager seems to be closing up the defence but we lack goal threat, even more when Chair doesn’t start. It’s simple we need a win, last one was 11-12 games ago. Positive clean sheet , positive gained a point on 21st but team lacks goals. 2 Week break , get Chair , Fox and Cannon back and try to get something at Norwich, typically they get a win today, had to be didn’t it.
I guess it’s 2 points more than if Ainsworth was in charge

Much better to watch. Where are the goals coming from to get us out of this mess🤷♂️. It’s not like we’re not taking our chances we are not creating any either. Dykes for me is like ainsworths beliefs. If you try hard enough and empty the tank you will get results. It doesn’t sit right with me. Unlike most I think dykes is no where near good enough. He often goes through baron spells not scoring for an age. Then pops up and gets a couple and the cycle starts again. 132 games 30 goals. He knows he’s in the starting 11 every week. Hope marti sees this and try’s to change things up. Maybe if not so certain his starting every game when fit. He might start doing what number 9’s are paid to do.

Think we missed Chair today, key for us staying up. He could get us 8-10 goals , couple each from others, if we keep it tight at the back we might nick a few games 1-0
We probably need around 11 more wins and 4-5 draws to stay up, and needless to say we need a win sharpish We know where the three bottom teams will probably come from , the five the bookies had there at the start, Sheff Weds, Rotherham, Hudds , Plymouth and us. We just need these other four to keep losing , I just watch these results every week plus Cov but think they will get better. We must pick up points off Rotherham H, Sheff Weds H/A Plymouth H/A and Hudds H in our future games. There is 18 points to play for just against these.
Our biggest mistake for years was let Ainsworth continue beyond the Blackburn game, ludicrous from the board and as mentioned before if we fall short by two or three points we know exactly whose fault it is we drop down.

We do need goals from somewhere.
But at least the football is watchable.
I get the feeling that if he stays, even if we do go down, we'd be able to get a decent striker from Scandinavian league once we can spend a bit of cash again.
It will take time, but thanks to our board sitting on their hands instead of getting rid of the useless one after the Blackburn game, when it was clear he was way out of his depth and sinking fast, time is not on our side.

3 wins on the spin would get us back to 1 point a game and draw in the 5-6 teams above. That is what is needed now.
However our goals difference is woeful and worth a point to all the rivals. We need wins but also some high scoring wins.
Minimum 10 wins from 30 plus 5-6 draws could be enough which basically means we need to avoid defeat in at least half our remaining games. Assuming no points deduction to us or any other team down there. I think it is 3 from 4 already but both us and Reading dropped from the sky from about this time last season so maybe some other teams will get pulled into it. Plymouth will be ok since they are decent at home and can score goals.
To survive it is imperative we sort out the home form and need a few big scalps to get the confidence up.

Our biggest mistake for years was let Ainsworth continue beyond the Blackburn game, ludicrous from the board and as mentioned before if we fall short by two or three points we know exactly whose fault it is we drop down. Apparently, we made our third approach for Marti Cifuentes after the Blackburn game. We were told that they would not allow an approach until the second International break. Panic set in and we went back early and agreed to pay £300k compensation as Hammarby's season had not quite finished. The sponsorship of the training ground and stands presumably financing this spend. So you may well be right, that the delay may cost us, but presumably the alternative was Warnock firefighting on an expensive survival bonus. There is still time, as Warnock proved with Huddersfield last season. But time will tell if the board are to blame for delaying after Blackbum, or to be applauded for waiting for the right man for the longer-term future. I do not personally blame them for waiting, raising the money, and then paying early to get what we are now watching. I blame the board for the dreadful FFP mess they have allowed us to get back into. If we go down, I blame them for an awful appointment with Ainsworth, giving him no money having already spent what little we had on Richards who he did not like, and completely messing up the finances of my club, having saved it before.

Thoughts from afar
Mistakes made: Ages ago wasting money on Austin Johansson and costly loans in a Hopeless gamble to go up - cause of our now FFP problem
Appointing Ainsworth
Keeping Ainsworth after the end of last season
Not signing a goal scorer - maybe money but Ainsworth wanting to use Armstrong as a battering ram
Not sacking Ainsworth after 6 games having seen what he had done to our football
Not sacking Ainsworth after Blackburn - even waiting for our new man but could have put Hall and Ramsey in for a couple of games
Good news we have a very good attacking footballing coach and defensive assistant. Bad news we need to score and need a decent scorer in January or a free agent before.
Good news we are one player short of a decent mid table side and still have time. Defence should be ok now but midfield need to get among the goals. Others are leaking goals as well so goal difference could turn our way 3 wins out of 6 and the picture will be brighter. All a question of whether we have time to catch up. I say we do but if not Amit is the man to blame for getting a ‘fans favourite’ in Ainsworth and sticking by him blindly when everyone else could see the problem.

I was at the game.
There was a marked improvement in the teams style and performance. Mostly the fixture was a cagey affair but we did get hold of the ball, were better organised than of late and showed intent. Sadly we have nothing up front in the opposition penalty area(as usual) and there is nothing the new manager(or indeed ANY manager) can do about the quality of our strikers. You can't get blood out of a stone!
Looking at a positive big picture. Willock had a good game and Chair is due back following suspension. Also Sheff Wed. Rotherham and Huddersfield all lost
