I would be amazed if he is still with us next season.
I think that it is a shame that one of our heroes probably feels so uncomfortable just being in the stadium with supporters. He has said that he has considered resigning many times in the past.
Well, the pressure has never been greater on him after a disastrous season whereby we are still not safe.
I fear Ainsworth may go the same way - it is what happens at QPR when we bring back 'legends' to appease the fans when we are in trouble.
If he is still on social media, he must be taking pelters from faceless keyboard warriors.
Against all that, I am sure that he loves the club and always did his best.
If he moves on, then he may well adopt an ambassadorial role somewhere - and the Hong Kong gig maybe the start of him reinventing himself.
But if we do appoint a new DofF in the Summer, it will be very interesting to see who / what we go for.
We have absent landlords who are very wealthy. We have a strong-minded CEO (who may also jump). Many on here say careful who you wish for and I tend to agree.
I would like to see an appointment of someone who has the proven ability with another club. Perhaps Liam Sweeting (Mk Dons).
Ramsay is always a target as well, but I do not think that we have to kick out all the coaches just because Les departs. I don't know how any of us know who the good and bad coaches are at the club.
Apart from Lee Hawkins when he posts on here - at least his lad got a professional contract for next season.
But a new DofF perhaps may want to review the scouting operation. No idea how the current set up functions, how expensive it is or what successes we have had. We are always told signings are a collaboration of the manager / Doff / and the scouting set-up.
But I think Ferdinand and Hoos worked well and closely. Not many clubs have our set-up with owners just writing cheques, so it has to be someone who can work with Hoos and a fair degree od autonomy..
