Will we get a new manager big lift? Going to be difficult with first game at Preston but let’s hope so, boy do we need a win from somewhere. Mission one is to get another 5-6 wins to avoid relegation , seems far away at the minute but just look how tight the table is. Hall gave us plenty of talk about if we can’t be up for Burnley we can’t be up for anyone, showed us nothing. Glad it was just one game. Remember the year Birch and Gallen stepped in and we had a big lift that year in a 2-2 with WBA almost won the game, we needed some of that spirit yesterday. Hoping the money got from Beale goes on a couple of players so we can let a couple go. No good keep on trying players like Thomas just not good enough at this level even as back up let alone starting.

Our new man has a lot to do. The spirit of the team and support seems to be broken. Very sad given the hope that we had under Beale. Expectations with Critchley are not high and we start to look down not up. If he can get the starting eleven firing / motivated then maybe, but Hall showed how hard that will be yesterday. Burnley are a good, confident team with great depth - compare and contrast the substitutions! But our effort levels in the first half were very low. It needs a new leader and a harsh look at individuals The decision to start Thomas was a curious one – and it almost started well. The half time subs though said it all. Willock looked disinterested and his main concern seemed to be to avoid injury. Field by contrast really got stuck in. It speaks volumes when you take your best player off, the one who could change the game, but it was probably the correct decision. If Willock is thinking that he wants out, then January would provide some headway for the new manager – but I fear we will be very disappointed with the valuation the market sets. Maybe he will head north of the border. I think we have quite a few players who are looking at the January exit door. Whether or not they will find new homes is another matter. I would not be surprised to see Laird head elsewhere (he was patchy yesterday). Thomas, Shodipo, Bonne, Hamalainen not currently playing regular football. Maybe Roberts will return to Leeds. Maybe Balogun will return to Rangers. I thought Dykes worked hard but was so isolated – especially in the first half. I thought Paal looked interested. Dunne and Seny’s error concluded any hope we had of raising spirits. Don’t think Dozzell is going to make it, and Steph is a regular sicknote. Perhaps Regan Poole from Lincoln (right back) may be more likely this morning after our deal for their assistant coach. I watched the Preston game on Saturday and they were very good, totally outplayed Blackburn. I was amazed to see how well Ched Evans played. Hard to see a new manager bounce at a place we always come home empty handed. So a bit gloomy given that we have a new manager and it is all to play for. He has got his backroom team that he wanted, even though we had to pay compensation, and that team worked well at Blackpool. Critchley struggled to follow Beale at Villa, he is a big act to follow, forever communicating. Perhaps the task is not so onerous in that regard at QPR, because he is not following the hero, but the villain. At Blackpool he played the loan market well and uncovered some players with potential. We need a leader on the park, especially when Steph is out injured. We need to get the players to care and to play for each other. Beale was very good at that. A draw at Preston would be a decent result – I really hope that Critchley is the chosen one and that we have got this one right I wish him all the very best – and he would have been my choice, even though he is mates with Beale.

Best bet - pray for snow and ice and get Preston postponed to give the new man time to get involved and maybe some of the players back. Why was Hall saying he had a full squad and then no sign of at least 4 supposedly key players - not even on the bench.
Nothing worse than building up fans hopes and t hen letting them down. It is going to be a long hard season from here in. Not sure where the next goal never mind point is coming from.
Just cannot get it out of mind that Beale Wolves and Rangers jointly have ripped the heart out of our club and the fans. I know it is time to forget and move on but just so angry about it all. How can we be top for 2 games then go on this run. It makes Warburton's bad run look good.

I wish him all the very best of luck, he is going to need it methinks. But as others have stated, I favoured him the most to take over.
