Loan Rangers: Clean sheet for De Wijs
Paul Morrissey @pjmorrissey77
FIVE R’s players were in action during their loan spells at the weekend.
Jordy De Wijs helped his Fortuna Dusseldorf side keep a clean sheet as he played the full game in their goalless draw at Regensburg in Budesliga 2.
That result leaves them 13th in the table.
Conor Masterson got more valuable match minutes as Gillingham recorded what could prove to be a vital 2-0 win at Lincoln City as they battle to avoid relegation from League One.
Second-half goals from Vadaine Oliver and Ben Thompson gave the Gills all three points at LNER Stadium, a victory which moves them within three points of safety.
Charlie Kelman was an unused substitute in that fixture for Gillingham.
Macauley Bonne featured for Ipswich Town in their 1-1 draw at Morecambe. The 26-year-old came off after 69 minutes at the Mazuma Stadium. Aaron Wildig gave the hosts the lead but the Tractor Boys ensured a share of the spoils with a late leveller from Wes Burns.
That point leaves Ipswich ninth in League One and five points outside the playoffs.
Olamide Shodipo didn’t feature in Sheffield Wednesday’s 2-0 win against Charlton at Hillsborough. George Byers and Callum Paterson were on target for the Owls, who are now sixth in League One.
Amrit Bansal-McNulty was not involved in Crawley Town’s 2-1 win over Forest Green. The 21-year-old is yet to feature since rejoining the Red Devils on loan for the remainder of the season at the end of January. Crawley are currently 13th in League Two.
Stephen Duke McKenna played the full game for Torquay in their 1-1 draw at Wealdstone. Jayden Mundle-Smith gave the hosts the lead before Ben Wynter equalised for the Gulls with nine minutes remaining.
Torquay are 11th in the National League.
Trent Mahorn played the full 90 minutes for Eastbourne but couldn’t prevent them losing 2-0 at Ebbsfleet in their National League South fixture.
Craig Tanner and Dominic Poleon netted for the hosts, a result which leaves Eastbourne ninth in the table.
So what’s next for our Loan Rangers?
Fortuna Dusseldorf (De Wijs) host Ingolstadt in Bundesliga 2 on Sunday.
In League One, Sheffield Wednesday (Shodipo) host Burton on Tuesday night before visiting Lincoln on Saturday. Gillingham (Masterson and Kelman) are at home to Bolton this weekend while Ipswich (Bonne) visit Fleetwood.
Crawley Town (Bansal-McNulty) host Oldham in League Two on Tuesday evening before another home game on Saturday against Sc**thorpe.
Torquay (Duke McKenna) entertain Bromley in the National League while Eastbourne Borough (Mahorn) host St Albans City in the National League South.
