It all starts at home when people are very young and the disrespect for "others" starts and never leaves.

We know what you said John Terry. Some of us can lip read.

Yes, the FA was/is weak, but Terry had just been found 'not guilty' in court (by a jury of Chelsea fans?). At least they found him guilty, which is totally clear to 99.9% of the population. Will be interesting to see what this programme stirs up. An interesting article here: www.bbc.co.uk/sport/football/55074804

That match changed the life of Anton Ferdinand.
I can't comment of the effect on his family & private life, but it is impossiblr to endure the spotlight & publicity that he did & remain unchanged. I do hope that this documentary has a positive outcome for him.
I did witness his career slipping into a downward spiral. Until this game he had performed very well for Rangers & this was the case against the Pensioners. He rarely reached those heights from then, although memory tells me he played reasonably in our winning games at the end of the season.
It is reported that he is already receiving abuse on personal media with pictures of bananas etc.

John 'we know what you said' Terry says he wouldn't participate in the documentary because he has "moved on". That's exactly what a racist would say. Some things never change.

He's not big enough a man to simply apologise to Ferdinand in particular and black/brown people in general for the hurt caused. He's in the privileged position of being able to move on - which was always clear as he had absolutely nothing to move on from - and couldn't give a flying f*ck about it in any case. Racist and general sh*t through and through, beyond redemption.

Terry and the weak FA and "justice system" ruined the playing career of Anton and the lives of his family - and got away with a weeks fine and never ending adoration from the Chelsea Thug fans. Now he refuses to talk as 'he has moved on" . He may have moved on but his reputation has not and never will in the eyes of millions of people. He should be banned from football grounds for life if the football authorities are serious about stamping out racism. Of course that will. not happen and he will get 5 star treatment where ever he turns up while Anton is left with nothing. And from areas where other player's wives are.

His unwillingness to engage, discuss or show an ounce of accountability for his behaviour tells you everything you need to know about his character (or lack of). Another wrong'un allowed to prosper in football at the expense of others. scum.

Pretty amazing programme. I think every football fan should watch and learn. I did not think it was possible for my opinion of JT to sink any lower, but Anton has managed to do just that. The incident wrecked Ferdinand's career and nearly his whole life. Incredibly brave to make this effort to protect the black youth of today. As ever, the authorities (FA) come out of it very poorly, as did the judicial system Taking the knee is one thing, but the problem seems to be as bad today as back then. Well worth watching - very thought provoking. Really hope that something changes as a consequence. Meanwhile, a BBC football pundit gets suspended for referring to an on-field scrap as 'handbags'. 24 hours where yet again we seem to be getting our football priorities very wrong...covid or no covid.

I understand that the BBC reporter did a bit more than refer to a mild skirmish as handbags ricky. I've not looked it up, but I read a post that stated that he made three references in the same commentary that were far from complimentary to females. I think that he said that soemone who missed a chance should have been wearing a skirt plus a reference to another persons wife. Probably none of his comments were earth shattering, but at best they were as bad as what Gray & Keys were sacked by Sky for*. Is it really that difficult to expect a commentator, especially a professional, to know what is acceptable or not to say? * The lady official that this duo were laughing at, is IMO the best official in this country & possiblyoin the continent. Whenever she raises her flag (or doesn't) I've stopped looking to see if it is correct as it invariably is!

Whenever she raises her flag (or doesn't) I've stopped looking to see if it is correct as it invariably is! Hi Terry - thanks for the heads up. The reporting of the incident that I had caught did not reflect your account. Perhaps that is the problem again, that we only get told what the press want us to hear. Thompson made the comment on BBC Radio Lincolnshire during Lincoln Cityâs 1-0 win at Swindon Town on Tuesday in the Sky Bet League One. Marcus Greatorex said: âItâs just an old term. The BBC should pay more attention to songs on their stations promoting knife crime and drug use.â While Lincoln fan Bernard OâMahoney added: âAs any football fan knows, âhandbagsâ is an incredibly well-known saying. âI canât begin to think whoâd be offended by it. I have now watched the program. My thoughts are these. Firstly thought it was interesting that Anton said he actually said to Terry first about him sleeping with his mates wife and calling him the c word. I did think that was brushed over a little. Anton never actually heard the abuse and never asked for it to go to court. I thought I considered myself in the Neil Warnock camp if you like, In that all White people have probably said something during their lifetime that they're not proud of especially from my generation and previous generation. I suppose as a white person its difficult to understand where the line is Terry Remark/abuse States the word Black currently its Black Lives matter and thats ok ? The N word is widely used amongst the black community and rappers ect ect. Its a terrible word but its hard for a white person to see how its ok to call your mate the N word but not for them to call them it. I suppose its as Anton said its the context and level of aggression its said at that makes it racist. That kind of explains it better. When I was working we had 3 Daves we had Black Dave White Dave and David Essex who was white but happened to deliver in Essex. Is that racist? I don't think he ever took offence but then I don't think it was ever actually said to his face he was just Dave face to face obviously. Jordan Henderson I think sum's up things better than I can he was part of the Suarez Evra abuse wore a shirt in support at the time. It was done incorrectly by all of Liverpool football club at the time. But you learn by your mistakes and its not something he is proud of. Pretty similar is the event of QPR not taking the knee v Coventry. We jumped to the defence of Club rightly so IMHO. Chelsea jumped to Terrys defence including Ashley Cole who stood up in court.
Terry had a pretty poor defence in court and though cleared he was seriously bought into doubt as to his version of events. But he was given the benefit of the doubt if only because you can't disprove his version, it only makes him look a fool and a liar. Finally I agreed with Anton I thought it was quite brave of the FA in holding an investigation after the court case and finding a different result It would of been easier to just close the case after the court verdict.
I also agree It did ruin Antons career I can understand why Terry never took part though again never made himself look to clever by saying he tried to contact Anton at the time but never got hold of him.... Looks like more lies, I hope at the end of it all Anton finds peace of mind and stops questioning himself as to if he contributed to his Mothers passing . I am sure all his family friends and pretty much everyone else is thinking this .
