That's the one liner from The Sun: "QPR are eyeing Lions chief Kenny Jackett as a replacement for under-fire Iain Dowie"
With all due respect to Kenny Jackett, who was great as Holloway's asssistant, one would think that if Dowie were to go, QPR would aim a little higher.
(If Jackett did return, maybe he could bring in Holloway as his assistant: Houston/Rioch II)

Alternatively, the old-standby...
From today's Mirror, via BBC Gossip "QPR will turn to former England manager Terry Venables, who counts Rangers among his former clubs, if current boss Iain Dowie fails to keep the club in the promotion picture"
Take the money it would cost to payoff Dowie...Throw in probably paying off Dowie's coaches...Add the presumably higher cost of Venables...Throw in a Venables assistant (Fenwick maybe)...That's a lot of money, that might be better spent actually buying players Dowie wants...

Whoever manages the team needs money to buy better quality players, Dowie,Venables,Alex Ferguson, Benitez, will not be able to get this group of players into the prem the overall standard is not good enough.

Welcome Eusebio! And you could be right. Venables is the kind of appointment a team bottom of the premiership might make (Spurs!). Short term. Maybe could still do it. But he has many interests, he's getting a little older. You'd think We need a manager who has that fire and just wants to devote 100% on QPR, not media/or business interests, etc...
Anyway this is the complete Mirror story
Daily Mirror/Alan Nixon - Exclusive: QPR close in on Terry Venables Ambitious QPR will turn to former boss Terry Venables - if Iain Dowie fails to keep them in the promotion race for the Premier League. Venables' name is top of the emergency list at the billionaire-backed London outfit and there could be a dramatic move for the one-time Hoops chief to return and lead them back to the big time. Under-pressure Dowie was carpeted after the last game and 'reminded of what is expected'. Venables, 65, who recently turned down an offer to take over at Newcastle on a part-time basis, could be tempted by QPR where he made a huge impression in the 80s

I was listening to I think it was the times podcast a couple of weeks ago and there was a journo on there who said that Venables still has lots of contacts within the media...and that these stories are planted by his "people" to keep his stock high. Generally it , allegedly, helps the money he gets for being a pundit. I think I'd rather have Ollie back than El Tel

Great writing from today's Mail which follows up on the Venables story "Rangers have scored just once in their last four league games and scored just once."!

Bloody hell. It is much too early for this kind of speculation. We've had a couple of poor results and we already talking about replacing the manager. What, 5 managers in the last 3 seasons not enough turnover. Are we going for the "two-a-season" title?

It wasn't my favourite appointment with Dowie, but give the chap a chance. it's still fairly early in the season and we are still in the thick of it. It is still a fairly new squad that is still getting to know each other. This time last year of the starting 11, we only had Stewpeas and Rowly in the team, and the new signed Legs. Dowie still needs time, getting rid of him now will just put us back even more. We have to remeber this is a 3year project. If you were in a new job and you were performing ok and you got the boot you'd be hacked off.

I was totally againt Dowie becoming our manager
He has a terrible managerial record and taken his last 2 clubs seriously downhill..
The only good season on his record was when Andy Johnson was scoring at will for Palarse
That said, I agree he should be given time, but not enough time to get us into a relegation battle
