It's becoming a possibility that with more and more players getting COVID 19 that the season may come to a premature end before all games can be played. What happens then?
There are a number of possibilities including: 1. The relegation and promotion places will be as they were when the season was stopped with 3rd place getting the play off position. 2. That the season is declared void and the next season has all the same teams in the same divisions 3. Some other scenario
Things are about to heat up!

This is exactly the reason they will want to finish the season behind closed doors, unless teams have players affected and Leicester might have three already.

Freeze the season, resume in July then from next year, start the season in January and end it in October.

Arsenal v Brighton off (The Premier League will hold "an emergency club meeting" on Friday to discuss future fixtures.) Theres no way we are going to get to the season finished without games behind closed doors , then no income coming in. lots of suggestions about a break and restart the season in July to finish it if things have settled down a bit by then. Start next season from September?

Although I am an eternal optimist I have no hope that things will be better by the start of April. If all footballers are put into isolation until April 3rd clubs may be in a position with players to play games behind closed doors but then will be complaining their players have not trained and are not fit. Plus what about groundsmen and other staff. I will be interested to see how clubs respond now - do they carry on with training behind closed doors or tell players to self isolate or something else. The PL have a bigger problem with the number of overseas players who may want to go home - and if they do will they be allowed back into the country. Naturally we have to wait and see but I can see no real prospect of this season being completed. Even if we can get through the regular matches there are still the play-offs to think about unless they are abolished and the third placed teams are automatically promoted. Can you imagine the Championship play-off final being played at Wembley with no fans present! Even worse is the likely financial effect on some small clubs from a protracted lack of income that could put them out of business, and even for other clubs what happens to sponsorship deals?. Maybe the EFL should have taken our and other FFP fines and put them into a standby rescue fund instead of giving the money to charity and it could be used now to help out a few clubs now. The only good news is I know what my match prediction is for tomorrow - match postponed. I think being an eternal optimist goes with the territory when you support the R’s😉

Most Experts in the field think April and May are going to be the worse two months so agree 75. I doubt the rest of the season will be played until June, we will have to play midweek every week to get it finished. Euros has no chance of going ahead this year or the Olympics. Not much sport to watch Football, Cricket , F1 , Tennis etc cancelled and everything else but it’s serious stuff so that’s the least we can worry about with something as bad as this.. We need to look after our family members and keep them all safe from this vile disease.

I did hear someone suggest that the the two teams at the top of the current Championship form charts over the last six games should get the Automatic promotion spots. thefishy.co.uk/formtable.php?table=2

Some players' contracts end on 30 June, so the season will probably have to be completed by then. Maybe season will re-start in mid-May with games behind closed doors if necessary? Next season needs to start in August as Euros will be starting in June 2021. Nations League finals will have to be re-scheduled.

Shortly before I retired in 2008, there was the first real Pandemic scare - it was bird flu. As CEO of the company, I had to work through Pandemic planning, contingencies, training, communication etc. We used external agencies to help us. The scenarios were endless, everywhere we turned there were withdrawn services, everything ground to a halt - but that was only rehearsing. It was a crazy time and when none of it came to fruition, I was left with the feeling that if it ever did happen again, the world as we know it would be a pretty desperate place. I was so relieved at the time but realised that no plan can prepare you for the likely devastation. But many of the current messages I recognise from that time, including the likelihood that we could suffer waves of infections, sub-variants and a slower recovery than the 'curve' suggests. I also recognise the thinking from back there that the more that contract the virus, the stronger the collective resistance. But the point of all that is that having suspended sporting events, it will be pretty tough to switch back on again. Players are likely to be infected at any time over the next few months, as with back up services and the emergency services. There will never be an ideal time to re-start and even then the risk of another wave will be high. I think that they may work back from the 30th June with a set of fixture dates. The playoffs may be 3rd v 4th - if at all. But past a certain point, the season may well be frustrated. That would be very tough on clubs at either end of the spectrum - no celebrations and financial hardships. From QPR's perspective, a season that has been so often very enjoyable, a big shame that it should be hi-jacked like this. But needs must! I fall into the very high risk category apparently, but I think it is inevitable that it will pass through my family. I just hope that the NHS keeps a bed free for me if I need it! Stay safe everyone!

Read all the posts. Recommend terminating season now and use standings currently to define ups and downs. Trying to start this up again and when and how I see nothing but huge problems.

Stay safe and healthy everyone. I'm hearing that no children under 10 have died from this virus which if true, is great news. As a grandfather at 60 years old and with with grandchildren in our care, this thing is scaring the shite out of me to be honest. Fingers crossed.

I've just had a text from my line manager to tell me to not feel pressured to come into work but I'm fortunate in that it's easy for me to work from home. I also love to read and have a Kindle full of books so am prepared to ride out the zombie apocalypse. It's very worrying though. My parents are both in their 80s, my mum is undergoing Cancer treatment and dad is diabetic with a heart condition and early stage dementia. My wife is due to go up to Lancashire to see her parents at the end of the month but I can't see that happening as her mum is just getting over a very nasty infection. As for me, I'm only 55 but I have an autoimmune disease and diabetes. So to reiterate what Andy said, stay safe folk and look after your and loved ones' needs as a priority

Yeah, stay safe 75, Marc, Andy and everyone look after your families. Go out in the garden watch the fish 75, feed the birds, read your books and plant some flowers and chill out for a few weeks and like everyone else stay safe. My Dad is 84, has Heart condition, Asbestosis and Cancer currently and struggling, a prime target I guess and I see him nearly every day currently but he needs me to help him so I don’t think I have any choice but continue the visits. Missing the sport is one thing but this disease is going to prey on the elderly and sport will have to wait. QPR will soon be back and we will then be depressed again when they start losing I’m sure and moaning, well I will be ... Just been to the shops here, no hand cleaners, no loo rolls,no bleach no gel cleaners of any sorts and not even a bar of soap for heavens sake....

Good luck 75 & Marc. Everyone else while I'm at it.
A lot of the times I catch a cold, I contract Bronchitis or a Chest Infection but I was informed last November that my lungs are in good shape (apart from blood clots on them).
Therefore, I'm not too concerned for myself. Especially as Ive heard on the radio this morning that "old" people are the over 70's & I'm only a spritely 67!

Meanwhile, downunder, the stupid FFA under pressure from the equally stupid FOX Sports is insisting the A League continues as per normal but behind closed doors. This means the Wellington Phoenix will be moving to Aussie on Tuesday. Immediately they qualify for a 14 day self isolation period, then when they return home, another 14 day self isolation period. They will be expected to play their last 5 fixtures within a two week period before the playoffs. Just F***ing ridiculous. But having seen the FFA main man on TV tonight I can understand why the FFA are indeed a shambles.
Sadly prior to this virus and the actions of the NZ & Australian Governments, the Nix were in hot form winning their last 4 in a row and safely in 3rd place and one point behind second with a game in hand.
FIFA need to step in and suspend the season. This has put our club at risk in an area of high risk just to satisfy the greed of a TV company & the FFA.

PS The sobering thought is 650 people dying in 24 hours just in Spain - that's roughly one person every 2 minutes - multiply that round the world and it doe s not bear thinking about
That is terrifying and so so sad
