Shame we couldn’t hold on. A win today and win at Preston would have seen us possibly four points off the play offs ... Wigan’s run continues pushing Boro,Stoke and Charlton in big trouble with 10 games left.

One point nearer to safety.
Shame we couldn't hold on for 3 but Birmingham are a decent side.

One point nearer to safety. Shame we couldn't hold on for 3 but Birmingham are a decent side. I didn't see any evidence of them being a decent side today mate, I thought they were no better than thugs parading as footballers. The shoves, pushes tackles were an embarrassment to the their club, as were their fans. I haven't seen the highlights yet but I an pretty sure their first was offside by a yard and their second came form a foul throw. Like most others I would have taken a point before the game but it feels like 2 lost.

Another entertaining game in pretty poor conditions. Seems we won the toss (they had kick-off) and chose to kick with the wind in the first half. Always seems strange when we kick the wrong way. Then 3 of the 4 goals went in at the school end against the wind! The first goal looked off-side as Brum played the same ball over and over down our left defence. Ball cut out so many of the attempts but when one did go through, our defence committed the sin of standing claiming off side. Masterson (a late replacement for Hall) chased Hogan and injured himself trying to catch him. Hogan looked dangerous all afternoon and one wonders how Birmingham are affording him with all their FFP issues - but there again we have Hugill in the same bracket. Two quick replies at the start of the second half - the second a really great finish (and assist from Bright) from Hugill who again made the difficult look easy when he makes the easy look difficult most weeks. Although Birmingham did not threaten very much, it is never a surprise when we concede from a corner. There has to be a training ground issues regarding our set pieces. Masterson slid in to deny Hogan a hattrick and 9 minutes of injury time failed to produce a winner for either team. Given the run Birmingham are on and the form Hogan is in, I guess a point is not a bad result. After a masterclass from Eze on Tuesday, today was a day when very little worked for him. Bright took some stick with zero protection from the officials. The officials........not worthy I am afraid. The lino in front of Ellerslie Road was simply appalling. Birmingham's tactic of breaking up our play with fouls throughout went unpunished by the ref. Many of the fouls he ignored. He never issued a yellow card throughout. The most lenient and in many ways inept performance for quite a while - and that is after watching Stroud on Tuesday.

Thanks Ricky, glad I wasn't there but what a shambles our league can be with dreadful refs and linos. I watched Watford beat Liverpool 3-0 today, a sublime game, for Watford, and Liverpools first loss on 420 days.

Our recent upturn in form has coincided with a consistent playing set up. At home, we now start with Pugh playing on the left in front of Manning and providing cover. Bright starts on the right in front of Rangel (or Kane when there are too many games for Rangel). Eze is in the number 10 spot behind Hugill. At the back, the full backs are pushed forward and Cameron drops back to form a 3 when we are in possession. Ball has been a revelation pushed forward in to the box to box midfielder. Then as the opposition tire, Chair comes on for Pugh and plays the 10 role. Eze switchws to the left and Bright to the right. The switching and interchanging is now minimized under the starting formation but once Chair comes on the inter-play and movement steps up considerably. Really good to see a genuine pre-planned training ground 'Plan B'. We also now have the option to take Hugill off and play Bright down the middle. Really pleased with how things have progressed but just think what this season could have been if: 1) We had a consistent keeper throughout 2) We could defend corners 3) Defend / Cut the supply of crosses from the opposition right wing 4) We could make more of our own set pieces 5) Had kept an in-form Nahki Wells One other observation: Eze, Chair and Bright take so much stick, it is amazing that they do not miss matches through injury. Hope I have not tempted fate there......

To be fair after equalising in the 81st minute most away teams would have settled for a point, but Brum went for the win as well as us and it all ended up frantically exciting. Wish the rest of the team were as positive as BOS, the sideways and back passing is frustrating to watch though we have to accept that is part of the modern game. Overall some solid performances but of course QPR and soft goals are as well known these days as Laurel & Hardy.

can anyone explain to me how on earth Brum finished with eleven players on the pitch the consistent fouling by two players in particular never even resulted in a yellow card the officials gave no protection at all to our players ,imo opinion you could see from the off that Brum were going to stop our players by any method whether it be by fair means or foul and most of the time it was foul ,anyway well done to everyone who despite the intimidation came through and earned a deserved point although we should have got all three well done lads 😀😀

If you've got players like Eze and particularly BOS who thrive on running at their men and either getting past or milking fouls, then them not being on a yellow makes the defence's job far, far easier. At least twice, Pedersen hauled down BOS for obvious yellow cards in dangerous positions. He couldn't live with him all afternoon - if he has a justified booking, he doesn't make the subsequent cynical fouls for fear of being sent off and we have more chances. A full back on a yellow against a pacey winger changes the tone. See also Pugh's challenge on Bela - not nasty, but clearly very late and broke up an attack. Dictionary definition yellow card, soon as he did it, his hands were up apologising...but no card. Chuck in the blatant foul throws almost every time Brum did a long throw and the Ellerslie Road lino not having a clue and it was a very weird game of officiating.
