Unchanged from the previous team that lost. Let's hope McClaren knows what he's doing!

Need a little of this - From 56 Years ago: Rodney celebrating after scoring Vs Preston (Via Bushman Archives) Bushman's description " The cover shows Rodney Marsh celebrating his second goal against Preston North End on the 20th January. Rangers won 2-0" The start of 1968 and Rangers are top at all levels.

When is Luongo coming back? Aus play Uzbekistan on Monday in its first knockout game so he could be back for next weekend's game if Aus lose!

Tired team. We need to rest our key players for the Cup, play the fringe players and come back refreshed for the League in a fortnight's time!

Disappointing, QPR always were generous to struggling opposition. We’re always happy to help them end a bad losing streak.

Why don’t we just give Preston the points before we even play them. Lame performance just like the opening game of the season. Giving them 6 points sums up our generosity to poor teams.

It was an odd game. Preston were not very good yet deserved the win. We conceded 4 goals from 6 shots on target. It was a game full of individual errors. Scowen started it off with a howler. At half time a poor Preston side were leading through an individual error. Then I think that our manager made a big error. Sending on Smith and taking off Cousins. Cousins had been one of our poorer players, but to switch to to 4-4-2 and play the high ball played straight into Preston's hands. He could have put Manning on or Oteh. But by switching Freeman to the middle we lost even more impetus. We needed to play them on the floor. Smith does not fit the game plan. The individual errors continued and we lost out to 2 set plays. Poor day at the office for several players and the manager. But the fans turned on the team - don't like that - the effort was there. Onwards to the next one

Shoddy defending. From the score one would think that Tom Finney had been resurrected. Remember Him?

He became Sir Thomas Finney, historically one of the best left wings of all-time. Played for Preston Stanley Matthews compared him to Maradonna.

The individual errors continued and we lost out to 2 set plays. Poor day at the office for several players and the manager. But the fans turned on the team - don't like that - the effort was there. Onwards to the next one Very much how I saw it too. We weren't creating much but when we were, it was by having it on the floor and using our pace and movement - the Smith sub and change in shape nullified that and made us predictable. Two or three outballs became one and Preston doubled up. Not to be too harsh on Smith but at this point, he's a bit of a blunt object that does a few things very well - he scores headers from crosses and clears balls out of his own area when we are protecting a lead. So why he's given 45 mins at home, a goal down, doesn't make sense to me when Oteh is on the bench and can slot into our system. Think McClaren still has a tendency to make the subs late, but feel like after the start of the season, his subs have got a lot better. Think this was a miss-step, though. I also would have liked to have seen Manning chucked into the middle of what was a very niggly midfield situation to add some interceptions and engine power in there, something we can be a bit light on with Luongo away. Or in other words, adding a bit of steel into our existing shape rather than jettisoning it. Felt like we jumped to Plan B when we needed to tweak Plan A. Preston are still the limited, well drilled masters of sh*thousery we know and love. So was a bit of a shame to see us get sucked in. We've got a bit cuter on this stuff ourselves in the last couple of months, to the extent it's caused plenty of debate about to what extent we engage with 'gamesmanship' etc. But Preston worth a mention for really taking it to a new level. Constantly surrounding the ref. Four warnings for time wasting despite having a big lead (first warning on 58 mins, no cards for it as per). Constant mysterious injuries whenever we built up momentum, including my absolute least favourite of hitting the deck, looking up to see how our attack was progressing and then feigning pain as soon as we looked dangerous (sorry everyone around me in R block). It's a never ending debate and I'm the first to cite mitigation. In a league of haves and have nots where you compare Villa's bench with what a very well ran Preston are achieving with no money and low attendances, you fight your corner, particularly while refs seem absolutely fine with letting it happen. But the amount of it, when you're losing, is so awful. Amazed Pearson got no sanction for haranguing the ref and capping it off with hoofing the ball at our bench. For our part, other side of the pitch to me but Lynch looked very lucky to have missed a frustrated shin high challenge that looked a straight red had it connected. He must have thought it was December still. Was a bit odd how quickly some people turned on our lot. Hearing some guy ironically cheer Lumley for a clearance after the mistake beggars belief considering his age and how good he's been for us since he stepped up. Lot of audible booing and frustration when players got crowded out, or played it backwards when there wasn't an out ball forwards. Maybe that points to a jump in expectation after a uncharactisrically good set of Xmas results or something. Which is ironically why it at least doesn't feel as bad as it could have done. I was still in a right old huff after the match, but this at least feels like a tired but decent team who turned in a bad day at the office and got deservedly punished for it, rather than a poor team that didn't try and got done over as part of a pattern, which we've all seen before. As like anything in football, you win away at Pompey in the cup (imagine) and do Wigan and all is forgotten. Dip before a very difficult looking February and the knives will be out. Such is football innit. Crap day out, crap result, still feel good about this group of players.

They always beat us. Nothing new there.
I was watching it but had to go and prepare tea in the 2nd half as everyone else is ill in my house.
Guess I didn't miss much.
On the plus side, it was a delicious beef curry we ended up having.

www.skysports.com/watch/video/sports/football/competitions/championship/11611908/qpr-1-4-prestonInteresting to see the goals again. It was naive of Lumley to keep passing the ball out from the back when the opposition had a game plan to block it. But that said, Scowen held his hand up for a pretty awful error - but the shot was as good as it appeared on the day. The other 3 were as it appeared - individual errors, players out of position and good fortune. The players out of position was caused by a combination of the substitutions and the pushing forward to get back in the game. I thought it was going to be 2-3 because of the pressure we were creating, but a break away, no BFG in the middle, a good punch from Lumley, straight to a an unmarked player. I think it was just one of those days, but obviously the concern is that we have lost to two of the four clubs that inflicted the early season despair, with the other two on the horizon. I so want to beat WBA though - and a cup run would be appreciated as well.
