From the Offie. He'll "aid us tremendously" according to the Chairman. How? New stadium I'd guess. www.qpr.co.uk/news/club-news/jamie-reuben-joins-qpr-board/Jamie Reuben joins QPR boardPaul Morrissey @pjmorrissey77 JAMIE Reuben has been appointed to the QPR board, joining chairman Amit Bhatia, vice-chairman Ruben Gnanalingam, Tony Fernandes and Kamarudin Bin Meranun. Reuben was formerly chairman of Reuben Brothers Resources, the natural resource and energy platform of Reuben Brothers Group. He has sat on the boards of numerous companies including Metro Bank, Detroit-based real estate and metals business Metro Warehousing, as well as Arena Racing Company which holds 40% of UK racing fixtures and includes courses such as Royal Windsor and Doncaster. As of 2015 he was appointed the vice chairman of the Metro Bank Advisory board. Reuben is also a real estate investor and developer, primarily in London where he has been instrumental in the redevelopment of entire districts within the West End. He founded Iconic Hospitality, owner of a portfolio of freehold hotels in London and strategic locations in Europe. Separately he founded a private equity vehicle Melbury Capital which specialises in emerging markets such as Mongolia, Indonesia and Myanmar. Bhatia said: “We are delighted to welcome Jamie to the board. He is someone I know very well whose involvement will aid us tremendously.

I just hope that come next summer we don't make the same mistakes as in the past 6 pay mad transfer fees & salaries.
To have some money available would be good, but not to forsake the current financial policy in it's entiriry.

Unless he's got more money than sense, I just wonder why he would want to come on board... surely, he has to be in it for the potential of financial gain rather than philanthropy?
Some possibilities...
He's a mate of Amit's and will support him in the boardroom. He's a property investor - knowledge/expertise in finding/completing purchase of site for new stadium He's a property investor - looking longingly at Loftus Road's potential for property development Any or all of the above.

Speculating but think it's likely a combo of what Ashdown and 75 say. Plus a bit of ego mixed with being involved on a club board too, maybe. He was involved in the failed Staveley bid for Newcastle and is apparently a football fan, so would make sense as combo of working with Amit, getting to be involved in football and the chance to invest in a development opportunity with a new ground etc. Word was that he got out fairly quick when it looked like Mike Ashley wasn't prepared to be sensible on Toon's valuation, so could read into it that some progress is being made on the new stadium side. I know Hoos lays it out as an absolute necessity either way, but why come on-board now unless the opportunity is 'real'?
Ironically, not a million miles away for why Phil Beard was brought into the club, difference being that he was involved directly on the transfer side, so presumably won't be making that kind of mistake again haha.

He is obviously looking to make a killing somewhere, hope it is not at our expense. Time will tell i doubt he is here for the football.

Not necessarily a problem if he's not here for the football, long as he's useful for the club moving forward. It certainly sounds like he's here because he knows Amit and brings development experience when it comes to moving forward with the training ground, new stadium (grits teeth) etc. Saying all that, there aren't many club boardrooms at our level that necessarily know much about football either, bar maybe Brentford and Preston? So who knows.

Hi all, been a long time since I posted. Hope all are well.
Thought I'd pop along and read the website and came across this. Supporting QPR hasn't been the same since my Dad died but that is another story.
I think the link between QPR and Jamie Reuben will be through him originally meeting Ruben Gnanalingam, who is the majority owner of Port Klang in Malaysia and Reuben's role at Metro warehousing (which has a significant warehouse in the Port). Pretty irrelevant I guess how they met though, much more important why he has joined. IMO it has to be a land development project.
Cheers, Froggy
