Well that's half my prediction right - now we just need to score 2. PS I have my stopwatch on for the first taxi comment. I'm with you on this 75, 2 quick Rs goals and I'm scoring 3 points too!

Don't confuse him with facts! We win away once in a blue moon, not having people taking the Reading win off us haha.

Just home - very, very cold today! Pretty tight game with some fine margins. Would have taken the draw before kick off so feels odd coming back thinking we could have won it, positive though.
We conceded a very strange, soft goal that I am still trying to figure out. The ball came through at height with both Leistner and Lynch close by. Leistner looked like he went to head it but inexplicably stopped, letting the ball bounce beyond Lynch for an easy finish for Marriot. I know Leistner has a tendency to let the ball bounce but it really looked like he was reacting to a call from another player. Some people said it could have been Lumley shouted for it, but he didn't seem close enough to claim it. Ditto Lynch - plus when he makes a mistake that costs a goal, he tends to shout at everyone else and he didn't do that. Maybe the Derby player made a false call that confused everyone...though seems unlikely and (I think?) it's against the rules to do that. Either way, very odd and preventable and put us on the back foot after a very equal start to the match.
Credit to us though, we didn't let our heads drop and kept well in the game despite not working Carson particularly hard.
Some bizarre refereeing - pretty inconsistent and bought a lot of soft fouls. Did exhibit one of my pet peeves which is having unnecessary chats with players. Lynch went in late on a Derby player in the first half - not a yellow but a bit messy/cynical. The kind of challenge Championship centre backs knowingly make every single week, an absolute nothing. Why does he need to have a prolonged chat with him about it? Also seemed absolutely fine with three or more Derby players surrounding him and offering their opinions at length - it's annoying but such an easy thing to clamp down on, but they never do. Can't complain too much though because the free kick in the lead up to our goal looked incredibly soft, if even a foul at all. Actually looked a good challenge from my seat in R block.
Once we brought Hemed on in the second half, I couldn't actually work out what shape we were playing. This was compounded by Freeman running around clutching a piece of paper he'd received from our bench - I wonder what it said?! Besides doing well to cling onto the note in inclement conditions, Freeman did an awful lot well and his effort levels were superb I thought. Always wanting the ball, always a dangerous outlet - guilty sometimes of wanting to do almost too much on his own but a good performance. A word for Luongo too, who after showing improvement against Reading, was better again today. Starting to see that engine like last season.
Bidwell's injury looked nasty - went off clutching his shoulder. Easy to forget how consistent Bidwell is and our lack of natural cover for him. Don't know the extent of the damage but at least we've got two weeks recovery time. Angel got shifted over to LB, Cousins was moved to the RB slot (did ok) and Wzsolek came on in RM. Now I don't know if it's because of his lack of chances at first team football or he loves the rain or hates Derby or what, but he was like a man possessed today. Rarely not sprinting, always wanting the ball, sliding into challenges - just everything you'd want from a 'fringe' player taking his chance on the pitch.
One last thing is how we play it out from the back. It doesn't always work but we are slowly getting far better at recycling the ball. When we were chasing the winning goal, Lumley was always keen to aid breakaways, taking risks to feed Luongo and Freeman with quick throws. Similarly, Leistner and Lynch in particular seem a lot calmer and playing positive, forward balls through the middle to Luongo, Freeman or Eze, leading to dangerous possessions or earning fouls in Derby's half. Yeah, the distribution is patchy and both centre backs do occasionally loft vague 50/50 balls forward, but it's better than it was.
Wells could have won it for us and missed a very presentable chance with time on the ball in the area. He looked absolutely gutted to have missed.
Edit: Also credit to Lumley who made a superb save in the second half - the ball swerved and he adjusted in mid-air to keep it out.
All in all then, pretty decent. It was actually reassuring, as I was saying to a mate at the game, to see us play 'alright'. So often this season, we've either been appalling, or very, very good and then sunk into our shells. While we didn't completely dominate Derby for any long period, we also didn't look particularly shaky either bar a 5-10 minute Derby assault in the second half. So hoping this more consistent shape is a bit of turning point for us.

Thanks for that Bow.
I missed the Millwall match & so I can confidently say that today was the best I've seen us this season. Apart from the brainfart for their goal that is! Other than that I thought Leistner & Lynch looked commanding. I was not particulary happy with the signing of Rangell, but he has certainly installed a calmness to us that was badly needed defensively & creates. Of note to me was that Freeman (his best match for nearly a year?) was willing to pass to Angel in positions that I doubt he would have given the ball to Bidwell.
Pawel was very influential after coming on & looked good when he moved to right back, both in defence & going forward. I do hope that he starts the match at Ipswich.
We came very close to winning the game in the last minute with an OG. However Derby "cheated" & had a man on the far post to head the ball clear!
A special mention for Joe Lumley, who appears to improve every time I see him. His handling of the ball in difficult wet condicions was near faultless. Even better was his save in the second half to a shot that was swerving all over the place. All around me in the Upper Loft said goal when the ball was on the way & we were amazed when Lumley saved it.
All in all, it was a decent match & a decent performance from us. For all that our defence is slated, we have only conceeded four goals in eight of our league matches this season. Such a pity about letting in fifteen in the other four games!

Oh No - with my sloppy writing and self correcting spell checker changing perfectly good words I will be in Macs bad books. Plus my sense of humour in half my posts goes straight over some peoples head so I could face the ultimate punishment - "You will go to watch the next three away cup games my son and no complaining on the way home or on the message board afterwards" ...and if you're REALLY bad, you'll have to watch the next 6 away cup games!

Well well Sir 75 mongol or whatever you deem yourself, 3000 posts good god you should be some sort of deity on here. I can handle anything you can give out and more. Right, enough is enough guys, cut it out. You're grown men for gods sake. People will always agree or disagree, that is human nature. but there is no need to poke a tiger with a stick and not expect a reaction. So take this as a polite warning from this administrator. Cut out the crap!!
I've just advised the other Mods about this crap too!

75 - Sometimes I agree with your views, sometimes I don't, but I always enjoy the debate. Realise you were only having a bit of a laugh, but it does only motivate further responses and it only ever goes one way - downwards. Hope you continue to post on the board though. You clearly enjoy it and fellow posters enjoy your views.

Wot Ricky said. No-one's asking you to leave, just mods asking you to wind it in a bit. I don't like drive-by posts and all that either, but there's no point jabbing, giving it back and questioning peoples' intelligence because that only leads to bickering and threads derailing, even if it is in good humour. Just ends up snowballing. Your contributions add a lot to the debate here so no point chucking all that away over a bit of internet argy bargy. A poster gave some, you gave some back, mods said for you both to pack it in and just move on .

Fine by me, i was just having light banter too. I do not post on here a lot as i am in and out of hospital for heart treatment and have been for a while now. I do however have a right to say if i think a certain game, decision, outcome, etc either thrills me or not. I personally ignore some posts giving a different opinion or excuse for a debacle of a performance by us IMO. Lifes too short to bottle everything up say what you gotta say and dont take everything so seriously !!. I apologise if i sounded rude 75 just mere friendly retaliation on my part i can assure you.

Sorry to hear about your health concerns rangersman, poor health really is the shitty end of the stick as I know all to well(wheelchair user).
End of the day, it's an internet forum where it's easy to get wound up, especially when you support QPR. Sometimes it's good to be reminded that there are way more important things to be worried about.
