Although I thought I read that we wouldn't be doing loans this year... Guardian - HAMMERS TALK: Sears sworn in to Palace12:37pm Friday 19th June 2009 CRYSTAL PALACE have beaten off competition from QPR, Sheffield Wednesday and Peterborough to land West Ham striker Freddie Sears on a season-long loan deal, according to the Sun. Hammers boss Gianfranco Zola is keen to let the 19-year-old striker leave Upton Park to gain some valuable first-team experience, and it is understood that he has chosen Palace, despite a last-ditch effort by QPR to hijack the deal. A source close to Sears told the Sun: “Freddie turned them down as he'd already shaken hands with Palace boss Neil Warnock.” www.guardian-series.co.uk/sport/4448062.HAMMERS_TALK__Sears_sworn_in_to_Palace/

I think any striker signing we are looking to make will be on a permanent deal rather than a loan so like cpr I don't think we were ever interested.
He might be a good signing for them but only time will tell. If he had signed for us I wouldn't have got excited but would have been pleased that we had signed somebody.

A year in The Championship will make or break Freddie IMO.
I shudder to think of young Freddie playing against that disgraceful Northern Thug Chris Morgan, Freddie reminds me of one of the little kids from my five a side team!

I'm not playing this card because we didn't sign him BUT I didn't actually want him. He is very lightweight and like you highlighted KLR that there are plenty of big agressive meat heads that play centre back in the championship and I think it will all be to Physical for young Freddie.

Warnock says we tried for him Croydon Guardian - Warnock pleased with Sears signing Monday 22nd June 2009 By Graham Moody » Neil Warnock has praised new signing Freddie Sears for honouring his word and joining Crystal Palace despite late interest from Queens Park Rangers.
The R's tried to hijack the deal after Sears and Warnock shook hands on him coming to Selhurst Park, but the 19-year-old West Ham United striker stuck to his word and will now join the club on a season-long loan. "A lot of people are mentioned and I wouldn't write anybody off." Neil WarnockThe Eagles also beat off competition from Peterborough United and Sheffield Wednesday for his signature and Warnock was ecstatic to get the England U20 international on board. "I'm absolutely delighted to have him," said Warnock. "We were in for him as soon as Zola said he was available and there were a lot of good clubs after him. "Even after he shook my hand QPR came in for him but he gave me his word and he stuck to it, which can be rare these days. "It's great to get him for a year as well as he is a nice young lad who wants to play football, he is like how I remember footballers." Sears follows Charlton's Darren Ambrose is committing himself to Crystal Palace as Warnock continues to bolster his frontline. In the last week he has also been linked with Leroy Lita, Andy Gray and Danny Webber, with the latter telling Skysports Palace was one of his preferred destinations following his release by Sheffield United. "I think they are just trying to get some business," said Warnock of Webber's comments. "I have not spoken to his guys for months. "I do want another striker though, a big lad. "A lot of people are mentioned and I wouldn't write anybody off." www.croydonguardian.co.uk/eagleeye/eaglesnews/4452265.Warnock_pleased_with_Sears_signing/
