The article starts with "In a summer bereft of football", I lost interest at that point as whoever wrote it has no idea what they are talking about.

I don't think the Americans are quite as accepting as some are led to believe. When the Oilers moved from Houston to Nashville (855 miles away) in the late 90s the "Houston fans express(ed) their displeasure with Oilers move by staying away in droves. Playing most of the season in front of crowds of less then 20,000 at the Astrodome the Oilers only win 2 out of their 8 games at home." {Modern NFL attendances are in excess of 65,000, no reason to presume they were any less then}
When it came to moving all the equipment they had to sneak it out in lorries overnight.

True...But it is more the norm. There's also the famous moving of the Baltimore Football team to Indianopilis (at night)...But then the new Baltimore Ravens came from somewhere else...And the DC Baseball team came from Toronto...And the Brooklyn Dodgers famously moved to LA, etc.

As far as QPR is concerned I think people should consider a move by the club. Fifteen miles away is thorpe park with access to the M3 M25 Train Stations and close enough to Heathrow for Briatore to fly his mates in for games

Well at the time that we were going into Administration and there were a slew of possible takeover groups, several of them were proposing moves: Winkelman of course to Milton Keynes; Someone else to near Heathrow. And I think others too.

Makes me laugh all the people that said that MK Dons would never work.
Look at the clubs attendances, they are growing year after year clearly it has worked or there would be no side.
Have to say you have to take your hat off to Mr Winkelman his vision looks like it's coming off with some style.
AFC fans always try and take the moral high ground, but to be honest what they did to Kingstonian was hardly fair.
Good debate this one which will run and run.

Well it was two part: Would it work/attract crowds/make money. And then the morality/and implications of moving clubs around the country.
Yes it "worked" But once the precedent was made...Not good.

The Broklyn Dodgers left NY in 52 and moved to LA. Ebbets Field was torn down and converted into housing projects.
The Owners to this day have never been forgiven. Walter O'Malley was burnt in effigy. Most Brooklyn Fans have never been to a baseball game since, that is the old timers. They live for the LA team to lose.
Would be like QPR being moved to Newcastle. Then would you see fulham or chelscum matches. Probably not and sort of lose interest .
The St. Louis Browns baseball team was moved to Baltimore and even the name was changed
Even though there is another baseball team in St. Louis, there still exists to this day a ST. Louis Browns fan club, no team, just memories meetings, sharing stories
In sympathy bought one of their caps which are still made.

I have held a similar view regarding K's Funky, as some on here will vouch. I have subsequently found out more about the buyout, the "Indian", AFC's treatment of K's and indeed the current view on a return to Merton. K's manager is a mate of mine and he's happy and thus my views on AFC have mellowed somewhat. Also, they can't go any higher with Kingsmeadow as their ground so there is also the selfish component.
