QPR accept offer from Everton for BowlerQPR have accepted an offer from Everton for Josh Bowler. Everton will pay an initial £1.5m for the 18-year-old winger, with the deal potentially worth £4.25m with add-ons. Bowler is now set to hold talks with the Merseyside club. Rangers turned down previous offers from Everton for Bowler, but he rejected the offer of a new contract and talks between the two clubs therefore continued as it became increasingly likely the player would leave. He is under contract at Loftus Road until the summer of 2018, having signed an 18-month professional deal in February, and his reluctance to commit his long-term future to the club made his departure this summer almost inevitable. Bowler, who was on Fulham’s books before joining QPR four years ago, made his senior debut when he came on as a substitute against Norwich on the final day of last season. www.westlondonsport.com/qpr/qpr-accept-offer-everton-bowler------- Excellent piece of business for a player who only played a brief cameo, was unlikely to feature much this season and had refused to sign a new contract. It is interesting to see that we are able to pick up players later in their development and either turn them into first team players (like Manning) or sell them on for decent money.

As the football bubble that they live in becomes even more distanced from the average man in the street the selling to Lukaku to Man U raises the benchmark comparative transfer fees and salaries.
Who knows what the Agent will get and who knows what salary the lad will be on....good luck to him if the morons that run football clubs will pay.....take it.
Whether he will get first team football at Goodison for 2-3 years remains to be seen. Could he have cut his teeth at Loftus Road for a couple of years and learned a bit about being a professional footballer and been a better player at 21?
Or is it the fast track to a penthouse in Liverpool Docks and playing for the reserves that will be his pinnacle?
Good luck to him but just like the Raheem Sterling transfer I suspect all is not what it seems.

Mixed views about him going... If he's the 'real deal', then the fee seems pretty low.
But he may not develop as people think (often the case), and the encouraging thing is that we saw something in him that Fulham didn't - so we get one over on them (which is always nice). So maybe that shows our youth development setup is improving at long last.
Perhaps that's the way to go - take in promising youth players, bring them on and sell them for a reasonable profit to help fund the first team. Hasn't done Southampton any harm.

If we had been a poor little club...absolutely. But given how the clubs has just poured scores of millions of pounds down the drain; just pisses me off totally

I believe that Bowler would be absolutely right to join Everton & that Queens Park Rangers would be right to sell at that price.
The chances that he would have played many games for us this seasson I think would be on the low side. He may not make many in the first team for Everton either, but Koeman has a ggod reputation of giving youth a chance.
Good luck to Josh.

From London football news. Looks like we did try hard to keep Bowler londonfootballnews.co.uk/qpr/qpr-chief-says-club-stop-bowler-joining-everton/QPR tried to keep Bowler, says FerdinandBY LONDON FOOTBALL NEWS 07/07/2017 Les Ferdinand has insisted that QPR did everything they could to persuade Josh Bowler to stay at the club. West London Sport reported this week that Rangers have accepted an offer from Everton for winger Bowler, 18, and that he is set to move to Goodison Park. Everton are set to pay an initial £1.5m, with the deal potentially rising to £4.25m with add-ons. West London Sport previously reported that offers from Everton for Bowler had been rejected but that talks between the two clubs were ongoing and that the player had turned down the offer of a new contract. And Rangers director of football Ferdinand told the Evening Standard: “I had a chat with Josh and his dad in May and told him that he would play for our first team quicker than Everton’s. “I made all the points about the advantages of being here at QPR and hoped it resonated with him. “We hoped to keep hold of him, but when a Premier League club comes knocking on the door, they have the finances to make a move.” Bowler is under contract at Loftus Road until the summer of 2018, having signed an 18-month professional deal in February this year. His refusal to commit his long-term future to the club left QPR with little choice but to sell him. He made his senior debut for the R’s when he came on as a second-half substitute during their defeat at Norwich City on the final day of last season. Bowler has been with QPR for four years. He was previously on Fulham’s books.

Can I have some of the stuff you are smoking I assume you were joking but just in case no way did Everton buy a player based on 21 minutes of football in a thrashing at Norwich. The PL clubs have scouts out all over the development squads of other teams looking for young talent in and outside of the leagues, season long. Unless it is in a meaningless Cup match or due to a massive injury list I would bet Bowler will not be on the pitch for Everton this season. He may never play for Everton and he goes for with add-ons about £4.5 mil if the rumors are correct. We live in a crazy world IMO

We live in a crazy world IMO If he doesn't play for them I doubt we will be entitled to the add-ons. Regardless of that the £1.5m is a great piece of business for a player we picked up 4 years ago after he was released by Fulham. It also shows the best way to run our academy in the EPPP era.

There is a fair bit of interest from Championship clubs looking to take Bowler on loan next season. www.teamtalk.com/news/exclusive-middlesbrough-lead-chase-for-highly-rated-everton-wingerEXCLUSIVE: Middlesbrough lead chase for highly-rated Everton winger Everton are set to hand highly-rated winger Josh Bowler a new long-term contract before sending him out on a season-long loan to the Championship. And TEAMtalk understands that Jonathan Woodgate’s Middlesbrough are leading the chase for the 20-year-old, although Derby County, Hull City and Sheffield Wednesday are also very keen on the youngster. Everton snapped up Bowler from Queens Park Rangers in 2017 and he has progressed through their youth system, and the club now want him to spend next season in the Championship before returning to Goodison Park. New Boro boss Jonathan Woodgate is understood to be looking for at least a couple of wingers during this transfer window and Bowler, who can play on either flank, is a player they are very keen on. Bowler, whose contract expires next summer, made three appearances for the U23 side in the EFL Trophy last season, scoring once and he helped David Unsworth’s side to Premier League 2 league and cup double. He is yet to make a senior appearance for Everton, following his £4.25million, including add-ons, transfer from Queens Park Rangers, two years ago, but he has impressed for the U23s.

And he's gone to Hull for the season .. www.hulldailymail.co.uk/sport/football/everton-josh-bowler-hull-city-3107078Hull City snap up Everton rookie Josh Bowler on a season-long loan dealHull City have completed a season-long loan deal to sign rookie winger Josh Bowler from Everton. The 20-year-old becomes the latest addition to Grant McCann’s squad after he was granted permission to spend the next 10 months at the KCOM Stadium. Bowler has trained with his new team-mates today and is expected to feature when City travel to face Mansfield Town in their latest friendly on Saturday. "I’m very excited to be here because it’s a massive club," Bowler told the club's website. “As soon as I heard of Hull’s interest, I wanted to get the move through. "It’s taken a bit of time but I’m just thankful to be here now and raring to go ahead of the forthcoming season.” The Toffees are keen to see Bowler develop in the Championship and a move to City, sanctioned by former boss Marco Siva, will give the youngster chance to progress. Bowler has only ever played 21 minutes in the Championship when making his senior debut for QPR on the final day of the 2016-17 season. A move to Everton followed that summer for an initial fee of £1.5m that could eventually rise to £4.25m. Bowler has yet to feature in the Premier League but played three games for Everton’s under-23s in the Checkatrade Trophy last season. Everton's faith in Bowler has been reflected by a one-year contract extension signed ahead of joining City. “It was a big move for me to come to Everton and I have always thought it was the right one,” Bowler told evertonfc.com. “This contract validates that belief and is an important step for me. My game has evolved in the past two years. I have grown wiser in my playing style and started to contribute more goals and assists, which is vital in my position. "Wherever I am, I will play my heart out and try to impress as many people as possible.”
