Looks like Hall and Lynch at CB with Perch at LB. Caulker & Sylla on the bench (as well as Gladwin) Good to se Shodipo start as well.

As usual Luongo on the bench after the international break. I have a bad feeling about this game

Great to see at Fortress Loftus Road, we are taking Reading on by playing 1 up front. How the fakes must be quaking in their boots.

1-1 FT. Could have lost I suppose. Would have preferred win but at least we didn't lose!

Seem to be the same team we were 12 months ago. Dont really see any great improvement 1 year on.

And yet we're just 4 points out of a playoff spot (and 6 away from relegation spot)
I do expect Cardiff and especially Aston Villa to start surging upwards

ESPN
After a need for a home win, QPR had to settle for a 1-1 draw with Reading at Loftus Road. Polish winger Pawel Wszolek scored his first goal for Rangers but Danny Williams' equaliser earned the Royals a deserved point. Rangers, without a home victory in the league since the opening day of the season, went ahead on 14 minutes. After Reading gave the ball away in midfield, Olamide Shodipo charged towards the penalty box and scooped the ball through to Wszolek, who netted from close range. Reading responded strongly and QPR had a lucky escape when Garath McCleary was just unable to get to Karl Henry's weak back-header. McCleary set up the equaliser by sending in a fine cross from the left towards Williams, who sneaked behind Joel Lynch and steered the ball home at the far post. And Rangers were dealt another blow when Grant Hall limped off injured 10 minutes before the interval. Both teams threatened late in the first half, with Rangers' Ariel Borysiuk and Reading's Roy Beerens firing wide. After a stale start to the second period, R's boss Jimmy Floyd Hasselbaink made a change, bringing Conor Washington on for Shodipo. The hosts then enjoyed a spell of pressure during which Sebastian Polter headed narrowly wide from Tjaronn Chery's right-wing corner. But Reading remained a threat and keeper Alex Smithies did well to get down to his right quickly enough to keep out a shot from Beerens after the Dutchman was given time and space near the edge of the penalty area. Smithies was soon called into action again, this time to deny McCleary following a Reading counter-attack. And Yann Kermorgant headed wide from McCleary's cross as the visitors continued to cause problems for QPR's vulnerable defence. With that defence offering little protection, Smithies then took matters into his own hands by acting as sweeper to sprint from his line and clear the danger after McCleary yet again got in behind the Rangers back line. At the other end, Washington cleverly turned away from Jordan Obita to give himself a sight of goal, but keeper Ali Al-Habsi reacted quickly and was first to the ball. The result leaves Hasselbaink's side with just one win from their last eight matches. The home fans' frustration was palpable and many greeted the final whistle with jeers. But it would have been worse for Rangers had Smithies not rescued them during the second-half spell when Reading were well on top. ends

Does the third tier beckon at all Simon? No, we will pick up enough points away from home. Down the pub before kick off, Terry and I looked at the team shortly after it was announced. The back four was clearly Perch at left back, Onuoha at right back, Hall and Lynch in the middle. Except it wasn't. Quite what possessed Hasselbaink to play Lynch at left back, Perch at right back with Hall and Onuoha in the middle we will never know. It didn't work, it didn't ever look like working. Our MOM was ether Smithies, who did a very credible impression of Manuel Neuer, or the linesmen who kept flagging for offside when we looked stretched. I was impressed with Borysiuk again, although he had a quieter game than against Birmingham, and would say to all those who keep saying that we should play 4-4-2, Polter and Sylla do not play well together. They both end up in the same 5 yards of the pitch far too often and always get in each other's way.

After that Leeds win we battled well against Birmingham at home but Preston, Blackburn, Newcastle and this wasnt great. I think in our six home games, six points, only one club has taken less than 6 points at home, Rotherham in 24th and we know where they are heading without Neil. Surely our home form will improve at some stage this season, lets hope it starts soon.

Our defending looks poor from any of those angles. Not sure about Perch diving into a tackle high up the field. He won the ball, but Reading retained possession and exploited his absence. Onuoha was as effective at closing down a winger as ever(!), and the remainder of our defence were ball watching. I come back to my point from yesterday that we didn't have our defenders playing in the right position. For a coach who focuses on defence first, we were appalling. Terry repeated pointed out how far Onuoha and Hall were apart, this got marginally better when Caulker came on, but we agreed that Onuoha has played narrower as a right back than he was as a centre back at times yesterday.

Lynch looked poor at left back - lost man for the goal and was beaten regularly during the game I agree Perch should be left back

Think the game highlighted how much we miss Bidwell (or indeed, just having fit players in the back four playing where they're supposed to). Not just because he's more solid at LB than Perch or Lynch but also because he marshals Shodipo so effectively. I think Shodipo's an absolute revelation and love how we're managing him at the moment (subbing him at the right times, not burning him out, not lumping on the pressure etc.) but he's still a bit naive when it comes to tackling back and holding defensive positions when teams counter attack or take throw-ins up the pitch. With Bidwell around, he barks at Shodipo to mark his man and tells him exactly where he needs to be - that didn't happen with Lynch there.
Thought the first goal was beautiful - best I've seen us score all season. Beyond that, Roller as has it spot on really - we looked a bit toothless going forwards despite creating a fair few chances. Think both Polter and Sylla are really valuable players for us but they do not work at the same time up front. I get the logic in piling them both up top for balls into the box when you're chasing a game (particularly away from home), but it just did not work today.
Personally I think it boils down to a lack of momentum in midfield. I think Borysiuk and Henry are good at what they do (Borysiuk can do a lot more than Henry who, whilst limited, tends to do the basics safely) but it's too laboured when they are both in the middle. You really need one of them paired with Luongo or Cousins, I think. Got another hint today that Borysiuk is probably worth one or two 25 yard screamers per season.
Not a bad performance by any means but we really lack that cutting edge at home at the moment.

Also, massively biased etc. but did anyone think there was a decent chance of a Reading player getting sent off in the second half? Whether you agree with the rule on this or not, I'm pretty sure one of their players went in on Perch very late and out of control (accidentally) - felt like it would have been a nailed on red card in the Prem.
