Flashback to August 23, 1975: Derby County 1 QPR 5.: One of QPR's greatest-ever away results: QPR travelled to then-League Champions Derby County and won 5-1 at the Baseball Ground. A Stan Bowles hatrick with additional goals from Dave Thomas and Dave Clement. Making the result even more impressive, QPR played without their regular center-backs David Webb and Frank McClintock; and instead had inexperienced reserve defenders: Ron Abbott (formerly a center-forward) and Tonny Tagg. QPR's team that day: Parkes - Clement Abbott Tagg Gillard - Masson Francis Leach - Thomas Bowles Givens - Sub: Beck. Lucky enough to have been there.......getting out alive was difficult!
That day Stan Bowles was truly unbelievable. His vision, his swagger his pure technical ability.
Some of players today haven't the ability to lace Stan's boots.
