He's changed his tune quite a bit… I thought we "controlled 100 acres" Golden Rule with TF. Listen to what he has to say and then don't believe any of it!

The Corollary to that: "Don't you dare quote back six months or a year or two years from now, what Tony Fernandes has previously said or tweeted"

Good pragmatic statement. About time the two talked instead of trying to out point each other.
In the Car Giant court now I suppose.

Unless Car Giant think their plan has totally gazumped the TF plan it wouldn't surprise me that they are pragmatic (sorry do a u-turn) too and come to an "arrangement" with TF!

Flashback 5 Years today Tony Fernandes talking on Sky - Video First time I recall hearing/Reading from Tony Fernandes that it's not QPR OR CarGiant - but could be both www1.skysports.com/watch/video/sports/football/9721012/fernandes-outlines-stadium-plans Dave Mcintyre/West London Sport 19/2/2015
QPRFernandes calls for new talks with Cargiant
Fernandes has long been hoping to see Defoe in a QPR shirt Tony Fernandes says he wants to resurrect talks with Cargiant owner Geoff Warren over the proposed Old Oak regeneration. QPR’s Malaysian owners, fronted by Fernandes, have long coveted a Canary Wharf-style redevelopment of the area that would include a stadium for the club. Cargiant currently own 47 acres of the site in question and talks with Rangers ended without the two parties reaching an agreement over the way forward. QPR chairman Tony Fernandes “Some guy wants all the cake. I’m saying ‘Let’s put our heads together and make a bigger cake’.” Tony Fernandes Warren has since launched his own plans for the area, insisting a stadium is not viable, while seeking a new site for the car supermarket. But Fernandes is keen for discussions to reopen – and has claimed that the Greater London Authority could snub both sets of proposals unless the rival camps come together. “It’s been portrayed that it’s them against us. That’s not the way business runs,” Fernandes said. “There’s X land. It could be ‘You do this bit, I do this bit.’ There are many ways of skinning a cat. Life’s too short – let’s find a situation where everyone wins.” Rangers chairman Fernandes also claims Warren has changed his position “360 degrees” and that Cargiant’s plans for the area in a sense represent a victory for the club. He said: “Cargiant has changed their position. One minute they didn’t want to develop it and weren’t interested in moving, wanted to stay there because it was crucial to their development, and now they’re property developers. Cargiant Cargiant currently own a large part of the land being eyed by QPR “The important thing is he wants to move out. He supports it [the regeneration]. Everyone there says it’s going to happen – big step forward. “People in the end will see commonsense. If I take a hard stand and he takes a hard stand, in the end no one will get it – the GLA will do something else. “It’s a matter of sharing out the cake. Some guy wants all the cake. I’m saying ‘Let’s put our heads together and make a bigger cake’. “But it should be coordinated. We want the whole area to look good and feel good. “If we go and do our own thing and they do their own thing we would end up with a bastardised development – which I don’t think the GLA will allow.” ----------------------------------------- London 24/Rob Brennan - QPR chairman Tony Fernandes is keen to re-enter talks with Cargiant about building a new stadium at Old Oak Common
QPR chairman Tony Fernandes is eager to hold talks with Cargiant regarding plans to build a new stadium at Old Oak Common. Rangers released a press statement two weeks before Christmas in 2013 outlining plans to leave Loftus Road with the hope of playing at a new ground in 2018. The statement sparked panic throughout the Harlesden based car supermarket with staff concerned they would be losing their jobs. Cargiant managing director Tony Mendes told the Brent & Kilburn Times last year that the offer put forward for their land by the club made it a non-starter. Cargiant have since started making their own redevelopment plans on their 47 acre plot of land and stated that they are not interesting in holding further discussions with QPR. Fernandes however remains confident the two can come to an agreement. He said: “I think it has been portrayed and maybe by them [Cargiant], that it is them against us. That is not the way business runs. “There is X amount of land and then there is one master plan, so it could be you do this bit, I do this bit, you do this bit and I do this bit. “I think life is too short and let’s find a situation where everyone wins.” QPR’s initial approach did little to enhance the relationship between the two parties but Fernandes is convinced an agreement can still be struck. He said: “There is never a right approach if you don’t want it to be the right approach. “People in the end will see common sense, in the end.Unless he [Geoff Warren] takes a hard stand, I take a hard stand, and then we are screwed. The important thing is, he says he wants to move out - he supports it. “Everyone there says, ‘this is going to happen’ - big step forward. It is matter of sharing out the cake. Some guy wants all the cake, I’m saying, let’s put our heads together and make a bigger cake. Fernandes added: “Of course it is difficult - it’s hard, but has anything been easy for QPR?” QPR could look to build a stadium elsewhere in west London or on another part of land at Old Oak Common but Fernandes still wants to build more than just a stadium. He said: “We’ve got to have a bigger plan. “Their view is a new stadium would devalue the price of the land, my view is that it would enhance it. “Our idea of the stadium is that it is the heartbeat of that development - it is a job creator. A football stadium isn’t just used for 18 matches in a season. Lots of things can be done around it. “I think both of us can win - it is viable. “The Mayoral Development Corporation has been set, everything is in motion and it is coming to a head.” [/quote] www.london24.com/sport/football/clubs/qpr/qpr_chairman_tony_fernandes_is_keen_to_re_enter_talks_with_cargiant_about_building_a_new_stadium_at_old_oak_common_1_3963409 +

He's still portraying this as if the problems are all coming from Car Giant - just look at the language used. The reality is they own the land we want to build on and they have their own development plans for it. If we want to do a deal with them then the onus is on us to actually do a deal instead of bitching about CG. The problem for QPR is that the owners have created such a financial mess that the only way out is to develop not just a stadium but a shed load of housing to sell and pay off our debts. That's why they need such an incredibly large, and difficult to assemble, piece of land.

Why tell the world you want to talk to someone about doing business? What will you gain from it?? I obviously doesn't strengthen your position in anyway, in my opinion it weakens it.

I'm not sure what planet he's on
