Harry Redknapp, the Queens Park Rangers manager, could be fined for his part in the public row with midfielder Adel Taarabt.
Tony Fernandes, the QPR chairman, gave the pair a dressing down for the spat that erupted over Taarabtâs weight, ordering both men to end their war of words.
Taarabt is poised to be fined for his part in the falling out and it is understood that the QPR board are also considering whether or not to fine Redknapp.
The QPR managerâs position has been thrown into doubt by the teamâs dismal start to the season and a club fine would put another question mark against his future.
The Professional Footballersâ Association is watching the situation closely and may try to help to find a peaceful resolution.

Taarabt is deemed to have brought QPR into disrepute with his unauthorised response to Redknappâs claims that he is three stone overweight. The Moroccan earns ÂŁ65,000 a week at QPR and the maximum amount he could be fined is two weeksâ wages. His contract expires in June 2016 and he is expected to leave in January.
However, QPR could be accused of double standards if they fine the midfielder and not Redknapp after the manager, 67, took a second swipe at Taarabt on Tuesday afternoon.
Taarabt and Redknapp will meet on Wednesday morning, with both men expected on the training ground.
Fernandes issued a statement on the falling out between Redknapp and Taarabt that read: âAs a club, we are fully aware of stories in the press over the last few days regarding Harry Redknapp and Adel Taarabt.
"We regret these issues being played out in public and both Harry Redknapp and Adel Taarabt have been notified of our disappointment regarding their handling of the situation. I have spoken to them both personally.
âOn behalf of the club, I would like to apologise to the QPR supporters for the embarrassment this has caused and confirm that the issue has been dealt with internally. The clubâs entire focus is now on the Aston Villa fixture next Monday and hopefully after a tough few days we can turn a negative into a positive and build on Sundayâs improved display.â
After Redknapp accused Taarabt of being overweight, the 25-year-old hit back by saying: âHe spends most of the time in his office but when he gets off the phone he comes down to watch for five or 10 minutes â he never takes a session.
"The training sessions arenât what I would expect under another manager. They are not as intense, the players arenât as motivated.â
Redknapp responded again by telling The Sun: âThe only reason he has lost weight is because he has had tonsillitis. Thatâs the only way we could get any weight off of him.
âHe is not fit to play a game, thatâs the truth. He is the worst professional I have ever come across and I have been his only ally at QPR for the past three years. He doesnât try and I have protected him for too long.
âWhen we were last in the Premier League we played Manchester United at home on a Saturday lunchtime. I had a phone call telling me Adel had been in a casino until 5am that morning. I pulled him into my office and asked whether it was true. He told me that he hadnât been in a casino until 5am until Friday morning but that he might have been there on Thursday morning.
âAfter we had been relegated last year we went to Exeter to prepare for a season in the Championship. I had to leave to go and have an operation on my knee. Steve McClaren was working with me at the time. As soon as I left he sent Adel home because he wasnât up to it. The fitness coaches at QPR, everybody tells me he doesnât try.
âHe doesnât want to run around. I have tried to protect him until now, but the fans have to know whatâs going on. Even I could suck my stomach in for a picture and look OK.â
