Rio is a liability. Thought he'd be good for us but he's the defensive equivalent of Park all over again.

When you can't score OR defend you're quite poor!

Something wrong when the real goal scoring chances (luckily wasted) are all Stoke

Poor game from vargas and being subbed off probably won't help his confidence , was hoping he'd hit the ground running

I was one (like everyone else) who dreaded those rumours of us signing crouch....but he's been a class above us today we really could have done with him!

Oddly enough, i thought Ferdinand was our only line of defence. Isla was getting skinned and wtf trying party tricks in front of your own goal? We lost some ooomph when Barton went off and our midfield were not stringing the passes. Great free kick though. Stoke go dirtier as the game went on. Douf should have been red carded.

NEGATIVES - Defence was poor Vargas looked sh-t Barton and Mutch got injured Henry had to come on the pitch
Positives We salvaged a point after losing Barton and Mutch were injured and not playing too great. We didnt play Clint Hill, Traore better option for me if no Nedum . Nico looked fitter We have as many points niw as we had after 12 games with Hughes in charge. Hughes went home happy.
And I would take Crouch for 2-3 Milkion in Jan , still can do a great job .

We got out of jail today. Great free kick from Nico to earn the point. I'm just happy we got something out of the game. A point is still a point and hopefully keeps us out of the relegation zone this weekend.
Isla had a bad game. Hopefully he'll get better. Traore is a joke though. I just hope we have enough to stay up. The encouraging thing is that I think we can do better and at least we're picking up points early.

Yes absolute cracker from Nico, by far our best player today. A face saver cos we were second best all day, not through lack of effort but sheer inability to play the game at this level. Really worrying , Harry's old boys brigade simply aint working and he is deluded if he thinks it ever will.

A lot of mixed feelings from this match, but glad to at least recover a point. Obviously Nico was a major positive, best player on the pitch for us. For all of those crying about playing Henry, I actually thought he did a good job and is a solid sub at this level. I think we did well on set pieces considering the massive size disadvantage and the ref allowing Stoke to completely mug us in the box and really all over the field. Traore looked much better at LB than other options and I felt he defended well. His pace saved us several times on the counterattack. I actually don't think Vargas looks hopeless, he just needs to learn his teammates better, hopefully the language barrier doesn't kill it for him. Also Charlie seems to be improving and started to play more aggressively, I believe he will be okay at this level, but if Vargas doesn't work out he needs a better pairing. Maybe Crouch isn't a bad idea to bring in after all.
Obviously there was a good share of bad in the game. Losing Mutch, after his best game for us IMO and Barton in the same match isn't good, hopefully nothing major for either. Phillips still doesn't look up to this level. Isla is a complete liability in defence and was the initial cause for both goals, much rather have Onouha in the position and play Isla further forward. Losing Simpson is not looking good.

I have been very busy today and only been able to get updates to the score so would not presume to comment on individuals other than to say that an individual opinion is often just that. Interesting that some say Traore was good and others that he was rubbish.
Anyway, the upshot of all this is that a home draw against a team like Stoke simply is not good enough. This is the sort of game we must win. Unless something drastic happens soon it looks as though this season will be every bit as embarrassing as 12/13.

I don't have an issue with Henry because for my money he is a dependable steady midfield cover player, who we may well need in the coming weeks with injuries to Barton, Mutch and Sandro.

I wouldn't completely panic at this point, but there is definitely stuff to worry about. It was good they fought back to draw, something we didn't see in the 12/13 season and it wasn't through lack of effort they didn't win. Just need to get things in the back better, and for me that means playing Onouha at RB and using Isla further forward or putting him on the bench. But it's definitely not going to be easy and this team needs to do better. On the good side, we did score two goals.

Championship looms methinks , makes me wonder why we bother coming up . Sadly, I fear this is true. We are playing with a completely new back four who play like strangers. Rio looked shot and Isla was woeful-Moses did him like a kipper for their 1st goal. Sadly, though, Harry will stay with slow shot Rio rather than play Onuoha. I panic every time the opposition runs at our defence these days.
