Ji Sung Park says he is focussed on helping us get back to the EPL. Oh dear! I was hoping he would not be around because I am not convinced that he is going to be of much benefit to the team. Just hope HR doesn't give the Captain's armband back to him.

Maybe getting voted "the worst player of the year" has humbled him. I was also hoping we would move him, there is still a chance. Although with Redknapp in charge, I seriously doubt he becomes team captian this season.

A Sunday beer belly football team wouldn't take Park!!!........We have no chance of offloading him unless a club has a mind melt down & actually thinks he can play football!!!

Oh come on... I think Park is one of those rare people in football that has developed some sense of loyalty.
Of course, he's not getting younger and he has no plans to 'relaunch' his career, but at least he's one of those who knows what he wants and is prepared to work.
Don't be fooled by his underwhelming season, he can really help us. (Or not). There HAS to be something good still left in him, just one year - that's all we may need.

Best way to shut up an opinionated GIT like me is to do the business on the pitch!!! If he does I'll be the first to say I was wrong!!

what makes any one think that after two seasons of god awful football from him he will suddenly change and become a good player?
maybe ferguson is being lined up to grace loftus rd for one to one training, somehow QPR are liking a coach for every player.
sometimes, just sometimes, the obvious answer is correct.

I don't remember his last season with Man U being bad. I, like most QPR fans, thought wow what an amazing signing. The disappointment came later

With most of the mercenaries gone (OK, perhaps you can look at him as one of those), is there any obvious superior talent in this squad? We'll have to roll our sleeves up and do some hard work to get up again. Park is a worker. What makes me think he could be OK for us this season? a) Possibly - less competition, more playing time, b) It's the Championship, a league that is less competitive. That's my two trivial reasons.

Park was a good player for manure surely he could be an asset to us in the championship ...i have no idea where its all gone wrong for him since joining us but hes far from alone on that front none of our signings turned out that good really. I too will give him a clean slate and hope for the best this season!

I didn't feel particularly let down by Park last season. He was played all over the place with different players around him every week. Play him in a settled disciplined team and he will be an asset especially down a level. Always professional and always does what he is told. If he doesn't make a regular starter then he is useful as a bench option making him captain didn't help him at all last season

No one in England would take him, but there were severals rumours he could go to Toronto FC in MLS. I guess Nielsen liked the guy and Toronto has a pretty large Korean population. Also MLS is trying to become a more global brand and this wouldn't be the worst move for the Asian market. I actually have a bad feeling Fernandes actually wants to keep the guy. Personally, I have a unwarranted feeling he might be pretty good for us in the Championship. Also if Young continues playing with the main squad it wouldn't hurt to have a fellow Korean on the team.

QPR Official Site - EXCLUSIVE: R'S SWOOP FOR PARK
Queens Park Rangers Football Club is delighted to announce the signing of South Korean midfielder Ji-Sung Park.
Park - a global phenomenon with a vast medal haul to his name - has penned a two year-deal at Loftus Road, after Rangers agreed an undisclosed fee with Manchester United for the midfielder's services.
The 31 year-old's arrival in W12 represents a significant transfer for QPR boss Mark Hughes, who expressed his delight at the signing, commenting: "This is a real coup for QPR.
"We are delighted Ji is going to join us because his record speaks for itself. He has been a big player for Manchester United and played a big part in their success in recent years.
"He is hugely respected there because of what he has achieved, his application to his work and the impact he has on games.
"He was always picked for the big matches because they could rely on him, and we are going to reap all those qualities.
"I think it is fair to say Ji has been attracted not by where QPR are, but where QPR are going. We were able to show him where we feel the Club is heading and he embraced it.
"He felt this was a good option for him and after giving seven great years to United he wanted a new challenge. He sees QPR as very much a Club on the up and wants to be part of something that is going to be very special.
"Ji gets what we are trying to do. He has been part of a well-oiled machine at United and now he wants to have an impact somewhere else.
"This is a huge signing for this Football Club."
Park - who during his time at United has won the FIFA Club World Cup, the Champions League, four Premier League titles and three League Cup winners' medals - said: "I am delighted to be here and be a QPR player.
"QPR is a Club with huge history and tradition, and a great ambition to achieve at the very highest level.
"Tony Fernandes and the Board are striving to accomplish big things at QPR and I wanted to be part of that.
"This project was simply too good to resist, and I am excited about getting started in pre-season and going on our tour to Asia in the coming days."
The midfielder - who has scored in the three consecutive World Cup Final tournaments - added: "I am joining a Club that is very much on an upwards curve - a Club that has a very bright future.
"The infrastructure is in place, with a new training ground and plans for a new stadium, for us to achieve in the short and long term.
"The Manager has a proven track record at Premier League level and I am looking forward to working with him and the rest of the squad to help take this Club to the next level."
QPR Chairman Tony Fernandes hailed the arrival of the South Korean superstar, adding: "I'm overjoyed and can't wait to see him in a QPR shirt.
"I am the ultimate dreamer and myself and Mark have worked incredibly hard to make this happen. Ji has bought into the story and we couldn't be more delighted.
"What started as a little idea is now a reality and it shows that people are beginning to buy into our story.
"It shows out determination and our ambition to build this Club.
"Ji is a global star, with a Champions League winner's medal to his name, and he is as excited about this move as we all are." QPR
POSSIBLE CAPTAIN
Mirror - Korea opportunities: Ji Sung Park in the frame to replace Joey Barton as QPR skipper
Mark Hughes also identifies Djibril Cisse as a potential candidate
New QPR signing Park Ji Sung is in the frame to replace disgraced Joey Barton as captain.
The former Manchester United midfielder, 31, has signed a two-year deal at Loftus Road.
Barton has been banned for 12 games and fined £75,000 by the FA for his sending off in the Hoops’ last game of the season at Manchester City. The Scouser was also fined £420,000 by Rangers, stripped of the captaincy and axed from the club’s pre-season tour
Boss Mark Hughes said: “I’m sure people will want the role and will step forward for it.
“And Ji will get that opportunity if it is one he wants to take. We have other guys with experience, people who have won Champions League like Djibril Cisse.
“Characters in the dressing room who can take on that mantle.”
Park turned down a monster Asian payday to go to West London.
But he said: “I still want to play in Europe because Europe is the highest level in the world.” Mirror
