Vauxhall Motors' Phil Brazier celebrates the win Vauxhall Motors boss Alvin McDonald described his team's FA Cup first-round win over Queen's Park Rangers as "unreal". The Unibond League minnows knocked Second Division QPR out of the FA Cup on Tuesday to set up a second round tie with Macclesfield.
Match report: QPR 1-1 Vauxhall Motors (3-4 on pens) "For endeavour, effort, putting our heart and soul behind it... I thought we were absolutely excellent," McDonald told BBC Five Live.
"The equaliser was well deserved when it came. When you think we've taken a professional side to extra-time and then put them out on penalties - it's unreal."
The Cheshire outfit thoroughly deserved their victory and should have won in normal time.
They were denied five times in the first half after superb efforts by Terry Fearns, Robbie Lawton, Peter Cumiskey and Nicky Young as they dominated their opponents
Holloway laments 'worst day ever' "It hasn't sunk in yet. Over the two games you expect a Second Division side to show something better than you - at the end of the day they are full time professionals.
"But I think over the two matches we've matched them in a lot of aspects of the game.
"We haven't pinched it tonight - in the first half we had five clear-cut chances. If we'd just taken half of them I don't think anyone could have complained.
McDonald also reserved special praise for QPR's fans, who applauded the travelling team off the pitch.
"I thought the QPR fans were brilliant - we came out for the second-half to a standing ovation because of our first-half performance and they gave us a standing ovation at the end."
