Lincoln Official Site - Jacko Named Manager Of The Month
Peter Jackson has today been crowned October's Coca-Cola League 2 Manager of the Month.
With a record of five wins and a draw from the six matches played in October, Jacko beat off the challenge of Wycombe's Peter Taylor, Lee Richardson of Chesterfield and Darlington's Dave Penney to scoop his second Manager of the Month award this year.
"It's a big award for me, it's a big award for the Club and I really am delighted," said Jacko, whose previous award came before he took time off to commence treatment for throat Cancer.
"The last time I won it was back in February and I had mixed emotions when I picked that award up knowing that I might never come back. That was a really sad day for me but I think that this award proves that's all behind me now. My career's moving forward again and my team's moving forward.
"It's been a terrific effort. We started the season slowly but during October we were outstanding. It was a really difficult month for us and to win five out of six was incredible. It proves that this side is capable of winning promotion and an award such as this for a manager suggests that.
"Peter Jackson's back fit and well and I'm delighted to pick it up on behalf of my players, my chairman and my directors but particularly my supporters who stood by me through my illness and who stood by me through the slow start to the season. This is a tribute to them."
Dave Jones of Cardiff City won the award in the Championship and Bristol Rovers' Paul Trollope was given the League 1 accolade.
The decision to present the Coca-Cola League 2 Manager of the Month award was made by the Coca-Cola Awards panel headed by Sky Sports pundit Chris Kamara, former World Cup referee Jack Taylor, on behalf of The Football League, Richard Bevan and Olaf Dixon of the League Managers Association and James Williams, Head of Brand Experience, Coca-Cola Great Britain.
