their 60th wedding anniversary today. A lovely couple, Betty and Brian, lifelong fans and season ticket holders who sat right in front of me and my brother in the upper Loft. Superkcat knows them well too. The club have sent me an item to give them on sunday when they are having a little celebration in the next village to mine.

That's really wonderful...60 Years...!
Can I publicize this or is this a secret (assuming they don't read this board!)
(And if can publicize it, is there a bigger copy of the article. Or at least big enough to see their full names)

A real achievement - congrats to them both. I hope they have a wonderful celebration. Maybe Rangers could do something as wonderful this year, in recognition?.........-)

Congratulations!!
I have a feeling my season ticket seat was next to this couple a few years back. Betty, made a knitted teddy for my new born daughter.

Many congratulations to them - beaten my wife and I by five years as we have our 55th anniversary in September. Celebrating in Springfield, MO, USA where our good friends will be looking after us. I hope they have many more years of happiness.

Brilliant effort by them. Congratulations for sure. The club should have them in the Directors Box for our first home game of the season.

Had a wonderful afternoon with Betty and Brian. I told them of everyones best wishes which left them kind of speechless which is rather unusual for Betty. She particularly asked to be remembered to Superckat!! Brian, who rarely gets a chance to get a word in edgeways was at last able to tell me a little about his other love, The Rs. He first came to the Bush in 1938 and barring national service in 47-49 he rarely missed more than a few home matches per season. Then for many years away games either. Unfortunately now due to deteriorating health they are now unable to attend but watch any time the Rs are on TV. I told them about Bushmans archive which I will show him on my laptop asap and Brian thinks there might well be somethings in his loft to add. I stayed for the speeches which, as you can imagine, were quite emotional. Especially when the club was mentioned and of course the love of their family and friends. The day finished off with their daughter Louise singing some lovely songs from Bettys favourite musicals. I was a bit shocked she didn't ask for Pigbag. Those are a few snaps with one more to come of myself with Betty and Brian receiving the pennant that the club kindly sent for them which I am waiting on.

Briiliant! Proper badge on the cake I note. It is fans like these people whom make me very proud to be associated with them. Real gems. Thanks for the pics Bill.
I hope the club do give them a directors box seat each at our first home game. Would be very nice to see them have a sojourn to a place they both love/d.

I'm so pleased that they had such a wonderful day Bill. It would be great if Brian can have a search in his loft for anything that we can add to the archive.

And some more snaps taken by someone who has a far steadier hand than me and much better at framing a picture The cake Yes, I know I have put on a few pounds The happy couple x Cards from wellwishers I forgot to mention what a fine job they have done of indoctrinating so many friends into being outright fans or at the very least 2nd favourite team and I now believe even their daughter Louise who has for years managed to avoid the bug has at last given in and now taking an interest in our team. We few, we happy few, we band of brothers!!

Why the hell have I only just seen this post. A bit late but congratulations to them both. Never really spoke to Brian but said the odd few words to Betty. Nice lady and I'm humbled that they remembered me. They were very poplular amongst fans where they sat and during the winter months I envied them when they sat with their flask of tea/coffee/soup.
That's great news. Thanks for sharing and updating bp.
