- Makes one wonder what QPR paid for their loans, domestic and foreign - and whether "renting rather than buying" is a good deal.
South Wales Echo - Cardiff City shock at inflated Premier League loan fees
CARDIFF City have been shocked by the level of loan fees being demanded by some Premier League clubs. Manager Dave Jones is keen to land at least one striker from the top flight, but the Bluebirds have been quoted fees of £200,000-plus for loans lasting until Christmas. The fees would cover a loan from now until Christmas – and City would have to pay top-rate wages, probably at more than £20,000 a week, on top of that. “It doesn’t apply to every club, but we have been shocked at the level of loan fees being asked by some,” said Ridsdale. “We have made a lot of telephone calls and we won’t stop talking to clubs.” Manager Jones said: “We asked about players earlier this season and were told by some clubs to ask again in January. “We are going back two months early in that respect and working to bring in the players we need.”
