Warnock: I’ll quit if Leeds fans turn on me By MICHAEL MORGAN NEIL WARNOCK has warned he will walk out on Leeds at the end of the season if the club's fans turn on him. The new Elland Road boss has signed a deal until May next year, when he plans to retire. But last night he vowed to quit early if he does not get the backing of the Yorkshire outfit's followers. Warnock takes charge of Leeds for the first time at crisis-hit Portsmouth today and said: "Whether I stay on will depend on what happens between now and the end of the season. "The fans have got to get behind me and show they want me for next season. And they have got to get behind the team.
"If they don't, I won't be here. It's up to them."So far there has been a positive response to Warnock's appointment. He added: "The fans have welcomed me and I thank them for that. "Leeds fans have given me some right stick before and I've given it back too. "But it was all banter and you have to have a bit of humour around the place." Pompey have entered administration for a second time and Warnock, 63, said: "The last time they went into administration they signed two players on £20,000 a week. No wonder they are in trouble! "I feel sorry for Michael Appleton — who I believe will be a top-class manager — and I am sure some good will come out of the experience." www.thesun.co.uk/sol/homepage/sport/football/4152149/Warnock-Ill-quit-if-Leeds-fans-turn-on-me.html
