i went to every one of those 1968 home games and they wee for me a celebration of skinheadism and fashion but the football was terrible the player i most remember from that season was barry bridges he had of course started out as a chelsea boy wonder where by he had scored a phenominal amount of goals at an incredible fantastic goal ratio so when he returned to stamford bridge that year we lost 1-2 but bridges scored our goal and he played the best game i ever saw him play

And as of tomorrow (April 13)...Fourteen Years since Premiership Relegation Assured
As I posted a year ago, and we could even add to this a year later:
"No one in their worst nightmare would have believed that thirteen years later, we wouldn't have returned to the Premiership - or that all the things that have happened to us another relegation, ABC Loan, Boardroom crap, the dismantlement of the "real/old" QPR would have occurred.
THIRTEEN YEARS AGO... April 13, 1996 QPR's 0-1 loss at Coventry assured Ray's Wilkins QPR were relegated from the Premiership. We have never looked back! Probably not in anyone's worst nightmare would they have believed how far we would sink. And the idea that we wouldn't be returning to the Premiership - at least not for a decade - was in few of our minds.
Eoin gets it Jess right!; Coventry 1 QPR 0.(Sport) Sunday Mirror (London, England); 4/14/1996; " EOIN JESS came off the bench and picked the perfect moment to score his first goal for Coventry - and it could well keep the Sky Blues in the Premiership.
City boss Ron Atkinson beamed: "Jessy is very much a passing player and that's what we needed. He proved a very big factor by changing the course of the game."
The priceless winner came on 69 minutes. Gordon Strachan crossed from the right, Dion Dublin headed the ball back across goal and Jess charged in to score with a bullet header. Big Ron continued: "The whole game was very tense but in the second half we had ..."
QPR: Sommer, Bardsley, McDonald, Yates, Brevett, Barker, Holloway, Impey, Sinclair, Gallen, Hateley - Sub Wilkins
Coventry: Ogrizovic, Pickering, Daish, Rennie Hall, Williams, Richardson, Ndlovu, Strachan, Dublin, Whelan - Jess

On This Day in 1968, QPR played Jimmy Scoular's Cardiff, with Wilks in for Rodney...And Cardiff, with John Toshack wearing #10...QPR were 3 points clear at the top (p35, 49 points).Ipwsich and Blackpool with 46 points... Cardiff 6 away from bottom! (although Cardiff were in the European Cup Winner Cup Semi Final) QPR won 1-0....
In the South East Counties League, QPR were top with 42 points. Chelsea 2nd with 39....
And in the programme: Announcement of the New Stand (later to be called South Africa Road Stand)
"We have decided after a lot of discussion and speculation, that our future is here and that we mean to stay."

And from the other thread: Two Years Ago - QPR Announce Appointment of Chief Scout - Who? QPR Manager Neil Warnock has appointed Kevin Randall as the Club's new Chief Scout as he and his managerial team look to revamp the current scouting network at Loftus Road. Randall is hugely experienced, having enjoyed a playing career with Bury, Chesterfield, Notts County, Mansfield and York, as well as spending time as Manager at both York and Chesterfield. Randall worked previously in a similar role under Warnock at Bramall Lane and Selhurst Park, and the R's gaffer is understandably delighted to bring him to the Club. Warnock told http://www.qpr.co.uk: "The scouting area is one that has been lacking, and we are keen to address it. "Kevin's appointment is the first step in doing that as we put a structure in place in order to build for the future." www.qpr.co.uk/page/NewsDetail/0,,10373~2017338,00.html qprreport.proboards.com/index.cgi?board=general&action=display&thread=12832
