Yes his success wasnt to good at Rangers but had a much better time in his short spell at the Baggies. Won 19 games out of 40(47.50%) at WBA before he joined QPR and only managed 5 of out 41 (12.20%) Past away to young , thats for sure !

Should have been a warning sign to us: He joined us because he didn't like all the commuting he had to do at WBA!
At QPR, his record was abysmal. As a coach at Blackburn did well. As manager there, less well. At Luton - Axed for not smiling. (And where are they now?!)

Who else was at the Bush for Boxing Day 68?
Lost 4-0 after watching Ron Springett give the worst display of goalkeeping I have ever seen.

First league meetings
Albion first played Queen's Park Rangers on November 6, 1948, in Old Division Two when they won 2-0 at Loftus Road. Dave Walsh and Frank Hodgetts scored. When The Hoops travelled to the Hawthorns later that season on April 2 the game finished in a 1-1 draw, with Billy Elliott scoring the only goal for the hosts. The Baggies got promoted back to Old Division One by finishing second, just one point behind Fulham. Albion would have won the league if it was not for a 1-0 defeat on the final day of the season at Grimsby Town.
Big wins and defeats
Albion's biggest win over QPR came when the two sides met at The Hawthorns and they chalked up a 5-1 victory on September 30, 2007. Kevin Phillips scored a brace and Ishmael Miller, Robert Koren and then-captain Jonathan Greening all notched. The five goals contributed to the 88 league goals scored as Albion were crowned Coca-Cola Championship champions.
The Baggies also beat The Hoops 4-0 on Boxing Day in 1968. Ronnie Rees, Dennis Martin and Ian Collard all scored. Collard bagged two of his three goals for the season in this game. Rees left The Hawthorns less than a month after this victory to join Nottingham Forest.
The biggest loss suffered by the Baggies at the hands of QPR was 3-1 at Loftus Road on August 25, 1984, in Old Division One. Steve MacKenzie scored Albion's goal. This was QPR's second season back in Division One after being relegated in 1977.

Every time Ron touched the ball in the second half he got stick from the crowd. I remember he had to keep on dodging the fruit and other objects that came his way from the crowd.

Your right harls easy to forget that Gillard was still at the club having played his first game for the juniors in August 1966 as a winger. Tony Currie had joined the Rangers juniors in November 1964.
