QPR Reserves beat a second-string Peterborough United side in difficult playing conditions at the Club's training ground this afternoon.
The R's named a robust side heading into the match, which included attacking duo Bruno Andrade and Troy Hewitt, who had both recently returned back to the Club, following brief loan spells with Aldershot Town and Dagenham and Redbridge, respectively.
Despite the testing conditions in the opening period, it was Rangers that broke the deadlock on 23 minutes. Lee Cook's in-swinging set-piece was met by defender Taylor Parmenter, who managed to get the all-important final touch, before the ball finally hit the back of the net through a crowd of Peterborough shirts.
With a goal to their name, Rangers were clearing playing like the team on top, and should have doubled their lead 10 minutes later. Cook's cross found the head of Rob Hulse, who teed up team-mate Mo Shariff for a goal scoring opportunity, but the Posh number one was more than equal to the chance and palmed the ball over the bar.
The match was soon level after the interval, as the R's were caught napping, gifting the visitors a life-line. An impressive run down the left-flank was finished with an equally impressive drive past the fully-stretched Radek Cerny.
However, this lead was short-lived as Mo Shariff hit the target late in the second-half with a superb strike that left the Posh keeper no chance, despite his best efforts.
QPR Starting XI: Cerny; Harriman, Parmenter, Perone, Shariff; Andrade, Puncheon, Ephraim, Cook; Hulse, Hewitt.
